Otherwise, why now the parents spend a lot of money to send their children to a good school to study, because the school education environment to the children’s influence is very important. When Wes A moved to Bronx, his mother had made a decision to send her children to private school after her seeing how poor the public school system had become, so she worked multiple jobs to manage the cost and relied on her parents to take care the children before and after school while at work. “My mother decided soon after our move to the Bronx that I was not going to public school. She wasn’t a snob, she was scared.”(47) Because she knew, if the children are growth of a bad education environment, the children of the world to know nature will be distorted. Without a good education, there is also no habits; No good sense, and also there will be some bad behavior. Today, the rate of crime is high; almost all can find the root cause of their growth environment. Maybe the lack of discipline, discouraged by mistake friends or too much stress, but all shows the importance of good education environment for children to grow
I chose to compare the essays of Paulo Freire and Richard Rodriguez. Paulo Freire’s essay “The Banking concept of Education” talks of how education is mostly one sided and oppressive. He sees this as something that is detrimental to society’s future as a whole, and in his essay describes in detail how the “banking” concept is faltered. However, in Rodriguez’s essay “The Achievement of Desire” he is the model student that thrives in the kind of system that Freire was describing in “The Banking concept of Education”. Richard Rodriguez describes in “The Achievement of Desire” how his educational experience is a point of separation from the rest of the people and relationships around him. Though, this makes Rodriguez more connected and dependent upon his teachers for support and approval than his parents or peers. Both men write essays on their views on the benefits of education, and on the disadvantages of the current educational systems. I will be discussing the different points that both authors address by comparing one essay at a time. I will also be using outside sources to further examine what both authors were saying in each of their essays.
He further stated that with all sincerity in themselves and colleagues, public school is now regarded as outmoded and barbarous. This thought, according to him is both observable to students and the teachers alike, but the students inhabit in it for a short period, while the teachers are condemned to it. Pursuant to teachers being condemned, they live and work as intellectual guerrillas strong-minded to stimulate students, ignite their inquisitiveness, and to open their minds, yet reluctant to stay behind in their profession. Together with this, teachers...
The amount of funding for education was the most difficult to determine. This education system seems to be very inefficient and the huge backlog of teacher pensions restricted the more favorable budget. Well educated students leads to a more productive economy but there are many who do not take ad...
Juveniles are being taught that in order to have a nice car, branded cloths and the house of their dreams, by getting into an expensive mortgage, they have to be an employee of a huge corporation. In addition, they have to undergo to a prestigious school, study hard, have excellent grades in order to become popular and respectable in the world. However, many people would not become those super leaders, but these majority of people have a great role in the capitalism society of the US. As Gatto says, “We buy televisions, and then we buy the things we see on the television. We buy computers, and then we buy the things we see on the computer. We buy $150 sneakers whether we need them or not, and when they fall apart too soon we buy another pair” (38). Such results are in part of a wrong education that teenagers have received trough many decades. In addition, Gatto highlights that modern educational system has been working in a six basic functions methods that makes the system strong and unbreakable: The adjustable function, indulge students to respect authorities. The integrating function, which builds the personality of the students as similar to each other as possible. The diagnostic and directive function, which allows a school to set permanent scholar grades in order to determinate his or her future role in society. The differentiating function, which gives to the student a good education and after his or her role is diagnosed, they prevent any educational progress. The selective function, function that the system has used to prevent academic growth for the non-selected students. The propaedeutic function, which works in the selection of specific groups of intellectual adults to keep perpetuating the system all over again making it a continuous sequence. (Gatto 34). Gatto’s facts revealed the survival of the educational system for decades,

Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both Richard Rodriguez in his essay, “The Achievement of Desire”, and by Paulo Freire in his essay, “The ‘Banking’ Concept of Education.” After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of education.
I chose to write my paper on the comparison and contrast of two immigration groups. I chose them because they are extremely similar once they have arrived in America, and very different culturally. The two groups that I chose are the Mexicans and the Tongans. It is never easy for someone when they arrive in a new country, but it is how you handle yourself while you are there is what counts, so my goal is to show a brief comparison of these two migrant groups. Living in Arizona you come to interact with quite a few Mexicans in your life. Many people are afraid of what they don’t understand, Mexicans and Americans. It is strange to me that Mexicans are the way that they are with their education. They seem to have very little concern for education, while the Tongans put huge bearing on their children’s education. I have personally spoken to a few Mexicans that I work with about their education, and they all say the same thing, “es no neccesarrio!” Meaning that it is not important to them. They feel that their is no future with an education, meaning if they don’t work they don’t live. I think that is one of the hardships that they have to face coming to somewhere like America, with little education it gives them little opportunity to learn English. I know a few people who are living in America and have been since their children were born. They still don’t know English and have very little concern to learn it. Yet their children know English, fluantly. So in away they are accomplishing their goal, and that is to provide a better life for their next generation. To me what the Mexican parents do for their children is a very noble concept, the problem is if th...
Meanwhile, Rodriguez states that the book which his teacher told him to read, he always read and waited for the teacher to tell him which books he should enjoy. I stayed after school "to help" -to get my teacher 's undivided attention (Rodriguez, Pg.342). Memory gently caressed each word of praise be-stowed in the classroom so that compliments teachers paid me years ago come quickly to mind even today (Rodriguez, Pg.342). This kind of action shows the Rodriguez complies the teacher’s choice, without personal idea. Hence, this is the approach and method of “banking” education in which students are educated in class. “Narrative in banking education will lead people who are filed way through the lack of creativity, transformation, and knowledge in this misguided system (Freire, 216).” In a result, Rodriguez felt that even he always success-ful, he always lacked self-assurance because he is a thinking collector by copying others idea. Therefore, Rodriguez became the worst student Freire said, because he active and unavoidable to accept “banking” education by
Rojas is the symbol of wisdom and support. This wonderful teacher has also motivated many of my peers to learn the English language to success in this country. She completely supports students to do well in all aspects of life, not only in school. Mrs. Rojas founded CLUB ELLOS (English Language Learner Opting For Success) at our school. The role of ELLOS is to fundraise and collect money for scholarships. No other teachers in high school had thought of creating a club of this type, which invokes students to work for their own best interests. Mr. Rojas has been a friendly supporter for many students. One of her students stated that Mrs. Rojas is a great support for her, because she has helped her with serious circumstances. According to this student, “I was about to leave school, because it seemed to be hard for me to learn a different language, but Mrs. Rojas told me about her experience learning the English language.” This suggests the power that Mrs. Rojas has to encourage students to continue with their education. She knows the key to succeed, and she is a role model to follow for many students. Mrs. Rojas shows students her leadership qualities in helping students to improve their academic standards. She truly cares for her students. This lady has provided her
This study is significant considering the educational qualifications of Buenavista District II elementary teachers because it is the bases on how they handle the different attitudes of elementary pupils and their dedication towards their work. The number of years in teaching is also needed because those are the bases of the methods they use in their teaching. Seminars and trainings are a must for them to know more knowledge on how to teach, what to teach and what kind of ways and technique they will use for them to have the interest of their pupils for their subject.
