I need to file criminal charges against Alina and Javier Lorenzo. These individuals own Excelling Minds Tutoring services and Educational Solutions. They are contracted by agencies such as CHS Children's Home Society and FRC Family Resource Center. These agencies are connected with family court and provide different services to children that are in custody, neglect and abuse cases. In return Excelling Minds Tutoring hires tutors, teachers and therapists to provide these services to these children. These services are court mandated and if for any reason tutors do not complete the court mandated monthly tutoring hours, they are fined. It so happens that Excelling Minds Tutoring Services hires all tutors and therapists online. personally meet anyone from the agency. You occasionally do meet the Case managers when coinciding with them at the time of the tutoring services. This being reason why I personally did not doubted the legitimacy of this agency. The way they do it is they interview you over the phone, you provide all the required documentation also online and when you are hired they email the "Court Mandated Work Orders" and you are responsible for meeting the Caregivers, solidify the schedule, and have Work Order signed by the Caregiver within 24 hours from the time you received it. Then you are to keep up with the sessions on timely fashion, plan the sessions, provide all the required lesson materials, have the Candidates sign the Time Sheets at the conclusion of each session, keep record of the students' academic and behavior progress, and before the 28th of each month you have to email the Session Notes and Time Sheets to the agency. If you miss the deadline they would deduct from you paycheck $10.00 for each day you are late. They pay the tutors on a monthly basis, which means that you first provide the services for one and as stated in the contract the payment must be in your bank account with the first two weeks of the following month. Nevertheless you are to continue the sessions without interruption or you would be fined. The first four/five months the contract stipulations were met. Then one month the payment is not posted to your bank account so you start calling the agency. After many unsuccessful attempts they would email you giving unreasonable explanations to the delay in compensation. Because this contradicts the conditions stipulated in the contract and it is not an acceptable explanation you would keep insisting in finding when you are going to get paid or a explanation of when you will get paid. In the meantime you are to keep up with the sessions. Then all of the sudden you receive an email advising to stop the services for if not all most of the students in your roaster because the case has been closed or the parents moved or whatever other reason. I have provided examples at the end of this paper. Every now and then you would be assigned another tutor's students that for any reason as the tutor resigned or moved or whatever.
This happened quite often. On an occasion when I took over another tutor's students the caregiver made a comment expressing how sad she was that "Mayra" was removed from her her case. She went on to say that she had even contacted the tutoring agency to urge them to keep her, but that they had not abide. This commentary confirmed the suspicions I already had. So I asked the caregiver to please ask Mayra to call me. After confirming that she had been removed because she had pressured them to pay her I started contacting other tutors. This was not an easy task because tutor do not know each other. So I had to ask the caregiver to please if they still had the last tutor's phone number to ask them to call me. As you can imagine some did some didn't. Regardless I was able to contact three other tutors, Maria Vega, Mayra Espinola and Audrey Ashford all in the same situation. Then I searched for previous cases filed at Miamidade.gov website. As expected since 2010 there are open and closed cases against Alina Lorenzo for the same reasons. This person is National Board Certified or so she says and is in direct contact with the courts. I can not understand how she was able to operate a business that is directly connected to minors and
education. These people have acted dubiously and in bad faith. It is their customary and habitual manner to conduct their business. It is my speculation that they have gone as far as listing the wrong street address for the business on the web page just n case one the tutors wanted to personally speak to them. Then you get so entangled in everyday routines, and obligations that you just let it go. But it is not right. I, as well as the other tutors am owed almost $4,000. I feel as they deserve to bring up to justice. I am not sure but I want to know if we can charge them with embezzlement or theft, because the agencies gave them the money to pay the tutors and they did not. We tried contacting the agencies but they said there was nothing they could do for us, because they had kept their part of the bargain.
Practice is an essential component of the development of expertise. Despite the necessity for practice, ethical and practical tensions may arise as a result of it. These tensions are shown throughout the articles, “The Learning Curve” by Atul Gawande and “The Great Forgetting” by Nicholas Carr. Gawande focuses how surgeons have to practice on patients which can sometimes be considered unethical. On the other hand, Carr focuses on how dependence on technology can be detrimental, especially in the aviation industry. In both of these passages, the authors present arguments explaining how practice can lead to several mistakes as well as the loss of numerous lives. However, practice is needed in order to achieve expertise which leads to an ethical
On September 18, 2015, I called Ms. Ashaunta Lanier and identified myself and the purpose of my call. Ms. Lanier informed me that she was about to call the police to report Tavon’s return. Ms. Lanier reported that her son had been in The District of Columbia where he was caught committing a robbery. Ms. Lanier reported that a search warrant had been executed and evidence which implicates her son had been recovered. Ms. Lanier authorized me to meet with Tavon at school.
Susan Brady Konig wrote "They've Got to Be Carefully Taught", because she wanted to inform us about how to properly educate young kids, as young as preschoolers about where they originated from. She taught them about their cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Teachers are educating their children on what country their ancestors came from and how that makes them all different, but yet somewhat the same by, their skin color, their hair color, the different foods they may eat, and how they celebrate special occasions.
Last week, Katera was taken into temporary custody and later released to Centerstone of Illinois. Kaella reported an argument ensued after Katera was denied permission to go to a friend’s residence located in Harrisburg over the weekend. Kaella moved from Harrisburg to her current address a few months ago. The argument started inside the residence. Kaella was in her bedroom and Katera was in her bedroom. Katera entered her mother’s bedroom screaming and yelling. Kaella could not control her daughter’s behavior. Katera hit her mother on the backside of the torso with a pot taken from the kitchen and threatened to kill her. Kaella remanded her young son to run into the kitchen and gather all the knives and kitchen utensils so that Katera could not get to them. At this point, Kaella called 911 for help. Kaella ordered Katera to go outside until the police arrived. Katera went outside and took out her anger on the vehicle. I did not observe any obvious damage to the vehicle that appeared
In the magic of the mind author Dr. Elizabeth loftus explains how a witness’s perception of an accident or crime is not always correct because people's memories are often imperfect. “Are we aware of our minds distortions of our past experiences? In most cases, the answer is no.” our minds can change the way we remember what we have seen or heard without realizing it uncertain witnesses “often identify the person who best matches recollection

Chapter 3 in the book Mindset taught me that students with a fixed mindset give low effort because they think they were either born smart or stupid and there’s no way to change that. The fixed mindset people try to avoid challenges and think mistakes as they are a failure and aren’t smart enough to accomplish it. If they happen to get a challenge they give up after the first setback. They think that it’s too challenging and that they can’t do it. People with a fixed mindset think that there’s no point in effort, you are either born smart or stupid and no matter how hard you try you can’t change that. They also believe that there is no need to study. They are smart enough to pass or to dumb to even do anything. They think that there

Schools, nor any other institution that will be providing education cannot refuse to give your/any child the service needed because it costs too much. The Federal Law, IDEA requires school to provide the services a child needs to gain a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) means at no cost to the parents. According to Altshuler and Kopels (2003), Advocating in Schools for Children with Disabilities: What’s New with IDEA?” States that it is mandated a variety of legal rights to have a free and appropriate public education provided in the least restrictive area/environment. For this reason parents are their children’s best advocates. Parents know their children better than anyone else. No matter the circumstances a parent sees all the flaw and potential at home that a teacher or administrator will never see.
Mr. Curry is an eighteen year old, African American male, born August 12, 1997. He currently resides with his mother and girlfriend. His current job is providing transportation for the disabled. He lives at 4584 N.W. 187 Street, Miami Gardens, Florida. The client was referred to the school’s family support specialist from an outside referral from an ex-coach from his middle school in which the client usually speaks to about his problems. This person contacted the school providing information about the client and his girlfriend having issues and there was police involvement. He was very vague and suggested that Mr. Curry speaks to a counselor before he gets himself into trouble. The client has a criminal background as a juvenile; he was arrested and placed on probation for lewd and lascivious act with a child under 12.
Time-out from positive reinforcement is one of the most widely used interventions employed to discipline problem behaviours in children; however it can be beneficial in a variety of areas (Everett, 2010). The purpose of this paper is to review a variety of literature on time-out from positive reinforcement; including what it is, when it is appropriate to use it, effectiveness factors and ethical issues.
I will begin with a solidified schedule. I have requested RCAS tutoring for every class this quarter to review, prepare, and improve my understanding of my courses. Having RCAS tutoring will not only be to go in and ask quick questions, but rather to also set an hour for dedicated studying for each class. Having someone who is also capable in assisting me with any questions I have will make the learning process much smoother and better. In addition, I will be meeting Ms. Vosters every week as well to find ways to improve my studying habits, and to be held accountable. This meeting will not be the only thing keeping me accountable. I will have 2 documents printed out every week. One document requires signatures from myself and my professors.
A teacher’s responsibilities are to ensure that every student gets the education that they deserve from a well-structured curriculum and materials. Within the teacher’s responsibilities a strong foundation of instruction has to be implemented, this is why instructional strategies are significant in a teacher’s career. The strategies for instruction vary from teacher to teacher; as a result there are no specific ways to employ strategies within instruction. The main purpose of this essay is to display knowledge of methods that are involved in teaching second language instruction for various ages and levels of students. This essay will also develop from the following components that methods and techniques are important to encourage tactical instructional strategies. These components are comprehensible input, feedback that is on-going, specific and immediate, grouping structures and techniques, building background and vocabulary development along with student engagement.
Schizophrenia is a mental illness of the highest order that effects the brain in mysterious ways. It is a disease that’s root has riddled both scientist and doctors for centuries. Although being diagnosed with it is very rare, the results it has produced on humans are very disturbing. It has even affected a few of the great minds in our world’s history, driving them insane, beyond human reason. It throws out all logic and reason that we might have and replaces it with fantasy. It truly is like living in another reality. So what exactly is schizophrenia, what does it do to the human mind, and can its riddle be solved in the future? I will take a close look at these questions and the staggering effect that schizophrenia has had on its victims.
