What makes a person who they are? Is it their name? Their personality? Their upbringing? I believe that it is all three. While I would have to say personality and upbringing are the most important, I do think that name has some effect. These three things are some of the most important parts about what makes you, you. That’s why these things come to find when someone asks you to tell them about yourself. “Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling …show more content…
They’re just not something you would frame on your wall, you probably wouldn’t use them in a resume, you likely wouldn’t boast about your results to anyone, and they’re not science based. I could think of few places where these results would be of any real-world use. These quizzes are helpful in that they point out personality traits you may not have been aware you possess. One example of this: being considered introverted when I thought I was extroverted. In my mind, I associated being shy with being an introvert. I am not shy, so in my mind that made me an extrovert. Personality is definitely a big part of who you are, however it’s not …show more content…
I have got two of the whitest names ever. The only reason Danielle isn’t is because it is derived from French origins and not just English origins. Ashley is derived from the Old English words “aesc” and “leah”. Ashley means “Ash tree clearing,” or “Dweller near Ash tree forest.” So, I’m basically named after a tree. Ashley was also originally a surname, but it became a popular men’s name, and now it’s a women’s name. I wasn’t named after any characters or celebrities however; the spelling was inspired by the actress Vivian Leigh. Vivian Leigh played Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind, while there is a character named Ashley Wilkes in this movie, I am not named after him. I have one of the most common girl’s names, but it’s spelled different. All this really means, is that I cannot find my name on souvenirs and I’m likely to respond to my name, when 9 times out of 10 they’re not calling for me. My parents also considered the name Katherine, but I have a great grandmother named Katherine and many of my cousins are named after her. That’s a lot of Katherines. I also could have been Ashleigh Nicole but I guess Nicole was too common of a middle name for me. I do have several friends with the middle name Nicole, but I’m the only Danielle. Danielle is the French and English version of Daniel. Daniel is from the Hebrew word, Daniyyel meaning, “God is my judge.” Parker is a common surname as well. I know several people with the last
The Aztecs were a large group of Indian tribes. They were originally migratory and as they migrated they assimilatated other tribes. Through this process they joined together and became rich in civilization. The tribes the comprised the Aztecs were the Toltect whom the Chichimec [Aztecs] conquered in the early 1300's A.D. The Toltect embarked on conquests, which resulted in the Aztecs becoming a dominate civilization of their time.(1) Their migratory pattern stopped on the southwestern border of Lake Texcoco as they discovered an eagle sitting on the stem of a cactus, holding a serpent in his talons with his wings open to the sun. This as an omen from the gods.(4) The Aztecs finally settled in central Mexico, where Mexico City is now located, and began building Tenochtitlan in 1325. Over time the civilization's control spanned from Tenochtitlan east to the Gulf of Mexico and south to Guatemala.(1)
What does it take to make a human who they are? What influences affect each person in this spinning world of ours? Is it the parents and how much love each applies to raising an individual? Is it the environment to which they are born into? Humans are unpredictable at best, and when someone says they have humans figured out, they are proven wrong. We are creatures of habit who are never the same because of the very influences around us.
The Aztec Empire was the most powerful Mesoamerican kingdom of all time. They dominated the valley of Mexico in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The Aztecs were an advanced and successful civilization that built beautiful, sophisticated cities, temples, and pyramids. They also created a culture full of creativity with mythological and religious traditions. Aztecs lead a structured and evocative life that let their society to become a very superior civilization. The Aztec’s communication skills were very well developed for their time; through religious beliefs, government involvement, and family life they lived a full and productive life. Until in 1519 when the Spanish conquistadors arrived in Mexico, and defeated the Aztecs.
Tenochtitlán had an amazingly intricate system of canals and causeways that supplied the hundreds of thousands of people who lived there. It’s buildings and agricultural system amazed any outsider who saw it.
In psychological research it is important to understand the effects of moderators and mediators to the research being conducted. A moderator is a variable that exists prior to the experiment which affects the reaction of the independent variable on the dependent variable. A mediator is a variable that reduces the significance of the relationship of an independent variable on the dependent variable. A way to understand this concept is to explore specific examples.
Before the Europeans reached meso-america, there were three great empires. They are the Mayans, the Aztecs, and the Incas. These early civilizations took up most of Central America and part of South America. Although, through the perspective of the Europeans the meso-americans were described as weak and uncivilized because of their appearance compared to them. However, the meso-americans were advanced in their own ways such as adapting to their geography, astronomy, and agriculture.
In 1519, the Spaniards conquered the great Aztec city Tenochtitlan, which resulted in changes and alterations that affected the Aztecs drastically. These changes, such as a new hierarchy, terror and plunder, and a new culture and religion left a mark on Mesoamerican history. If the Spanish conquistadors did not decide to conquer
Europe in the early 20th century was a cesspool of jingoistic nationalism, industrial development, and imperialistic conquests, but this fusion of new concepts in the era arose seemingly distinct from previous thoughts; however, this amalgamation of ideals acted as a natural development of the beliefs of previous generations, if seemingly split from prior thinking. Beginning starkly with industrialization of Europe, past philosophies were overlooked for more realistic ideologies stemming from the competition arising from military and economic intimidation. The novel thinking emerging on the self, the state, and the world climaxed with the outbreak of the Great War. From industrialization, the velocity and volume of violence increased dramatically with numerous military advancements that spawned a war the likes of which was never seen on Earth prior, and from nationalism, the production and logistics to create violence allowed for the upkeep of colossal conflicts. Total war, a new form of complete mobilization, was only made possible through the principles and relationships developed in the century prior.
The “Big Five” personality traits and the tests that show you what where on the scale of each of the five traits you fit are concepts that were introduce to me actually in high school. And it was interesting to see how I have changed in terms of the five traits from the first time I took the test to most recently when I did the test again.
Everybody's personality is different. Some may be extraversion's or narcissists, low self-monitoring or high self-monitoring and the list goes on. During this semester, taking Personality Theories has thought me more about myself than I have learned in my whole life. I believe that my personality stems from my family environment, my friends and society and then I get to choose what I think to be morally correct and what fits with my personality the best.
The four civilizations, the Olmec, the Maya, the Aztecs, and the Inca were around many years ago. Life in Latin America prior to the European contact indicated a contradiction because each of these four civilizations were civilized and educated, yet they were violent at the same time.
Kaviani & Hatami (2016), analyzed primary research information for a correlation between personality traits and mindfulness. In this report, mindfulness is defined as paying attention to every action, and showing the ability to change (Kaviani and Hatami 2016). Personality traits reviewed in this study are: empathy, Theory of mind, openness, pro-social behavior, and suggestibility. A questionnaire focusing on all five of the listed personality traits and mindfulness, were given to a group of 275 participants. It was found that those with a high mindful rating, correlated with the listed traits to a higher degree than those in with low mindful ratings (see Appendix A for chart). There were two classifications of mindfulness (low and high mindfulness).
A person’s identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person’s identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person’s sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a person’s taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet on the string of their puppet-master, nor a chess piece on their master’s game board, individuals choose their own paths in life. They accomplish, or strive to accomplish, goals that they have set for themselves throughout their lifetime. Individuals are different from any other individual in the world because they live their own life rather than following a crowd of puppets. A person’s identity is defined by what shaped it in the first place, why they chose to be who they are, and what makes them different from everybody else in the world. I feel that I have developed most of my identity from my own dreams, fantasies, friends, and idols.
There are 16 personality types. I happen to be ISFJ; introverted, sensing, feeling, and judging. I am very aware of my surroundings and tend to seek security in relationships and occupations. I will learn that my values and beliefs influence day-to-day activities as well as my decisions and how they affect other people. We have to pay careful attention to how we react and what we let influence us because as an ISFJ, we let feelings trump over reason. I must figure out how to make the right choice even if other people don’t like it. I cannot let emotion overcome logic.
During my first weeks of college I was given the task of taking a quiz that helps me determines my strengths that will help succeed in my college career and beyond. The online quiz assesses you talents and strengths with which you can develop by reading the book ,Strengths Quest, which explains your abilities. The quiz takes thirty minutes to ask about various topics that determine your top five strengths or “themes of talent”. When I first read the synapsis on the back of the book I was skeptical about the accuracy of the quiz’s ability to determine what I’m like based on one hundred and thirty questions. Once I finished the test I still questioned the truth behind the results, until I read the book. I believe that Strengths Quest is a helpful tool that will help me through my college career. The test determined that my personal talents were: adaptability, learner, input, relator, and intellection. Each attribute is presented in the order of the strongest to the weakest. I feel as though the strengths are accurate because I see the similarities between them and my personality.
