Nothing is ruder than showing up late when someone is expecting you. If I told someone I was going to do something, then I do it. Also, I utilize manners I have learned such as saying- thank you, please, etc. Little words like these show my politeness. I try to not come off as rude or mean, I want to seem courteous as possible. Motivated Do I consider motivation a positive character trait? I chose motivation because this is a trait I must work on. If there is nothing to push me, then I lose interest in my work. For example, when it came to SAT’s, I was so lazy and unmotivated to study that’s why I didn’t study as much. I want to work on motivating myself, so I could become more involved in my work and do more that what is expected. Motivation is definitely a positive character trait. If someone does not have the motivation to do something, then they end up not doing it or just don’t put as much effort. Having motivation pushes you to do something, and in the end, it pushes you toward success. Without motivation, one can not get something done in the most effective. Having motivation, will push any individual far in life. What are at least one of the strategies you can try to improve upon for each trait.
In Barbara Lazear Ascher’s essay titled “On Compassion, Lazear describes her various encounters with the homeless in order to create her argument concerning the origins of compassion. In her argument directed at an open-ended audience, she interprets compassion abstractly and portrays empathy as the building block to compassion; meaning, to be a more tolerant society, one must first learn empathy to understand and demonstrate true compassion. When analyzing Ascher’s rhetoric, her meticulous use of diction and rhetorical devices reveal a developing skeptical. Namely, Ascher’s use of rhetorical questions, a first-person narrative, and a careful selection of detail convey her initial skeptical attitude toward her subject of compassion.
Statistically, over 670,000 Americans are homeless with a growing number. 48 million people go to bed hungry every night. Although we do provide shelters and opportunities in America, millions of people are homeless worldwide. Even on a more minor level there are still hundreds homeless within hometowns. Everyday we encounter the homeless whether by seeing them holding their personal signs at stoplights, confronts with beggars, or viewing them from afar under bridges. In her essay titled “On Compassion”, writer Barbara Ascher uses rhetorical techniques detailing some of her personal homeless experiences within the city life, Asher does effectively use logos, pathos,
Within the two essays On Compassion by Barbara Lazear Ascher and On Dumpster Diving by Lars Eighner, the idea of living poor is presented as a central theme. Do earthly possessions and abundance of money really make you rich? Or in reality, are you really poor because you're focusing more on self-involvement rather than compassion and thoughtfulness towards other individuals? According to dictionary.com, the definition of poverty is the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor. Of these two essays, On Compassion is more effective to its purpose.
What is motivation? According to text, motivation is defined as a set of factors that activate, direct, and maintain behavior, usually toward a certain goal. Motivation is the energy that makes us do things: this is a result of our individual needs being satisfied so that we have inspiration to complete the mission. These needs vary from person to person as everybody has their individual needs to motivate themselves. Depending on how motivated we are, it may further determine the effort we put into our work and therefore increase the standard of the productivity. There have been a wide variety of theories about motivation developed over the years. Several are drive-reduction theory, arousal theory, psychosocial (both incentive and cognitive) theory, and Maslow’s H...
Motivation comes in all different forms, and it depends on how a person perceives it. Motivation can be anything, and affects each person differently. A person can have multiple ways of inspiration that encourage them to succeed. A person has to be at the right place in the right time, and it’s just a matter of finding it.
I learned that I am motivated in college by extrinsic goals, such as my family and friends. My second highest motivator would be task value. This is actually true for me. If I find a topic more interesting and understand it better and want to annex whatever it is I have assigned. I am extremely motivated by my performance.
What is compassion? Webster’s Dictionary defines it as a “sympathetic consciousness of others’ distress together with a desire to alleviate it.” I think that compassion has a much more powerful meaning than this. I believe that compassion is true embodiment of the human heart and spirit and its urge to help people. I also believe that this embodiment drives us to unite as one, setting aside our differences, be it in religion, politics, or other worldly conflicts, to master our divine purpose, the betterment of humanity and nature. The three Abrahamic faiths, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, among other religions, exemplify the qualities of compassion and love clearly reflecting these ideas in their scriptures and teachings. In fact, if one delves deep into any religious philosophy or teaching, he/she will find that all strive to promote peace, tolerance, and compassion between one another. However, in our modern world, these teachings have been twisted and manipulated for man’s personal gains. I believe that it is our purpose to impart upon the present world, and the future generations, a feeling of compassion, love, and unity that will ultimately lead to worldwide peace.
I believe that we should always think of others needs and do no harm to others even if they have harmed you in some way. I treat others the way that I would want them to treat me and I expect that others will treat me the same way. I understand that not everyone feels the same as I do and that I cannot control the way that others decide to treat me. I show compassion for everyone I come in contact with and I treat every patient the same way despite the fact that they may be unruly or even try to hurt me. I have accepted the fact that there are some people out there who will try to hurt me despite the fact that all I want to do is help them. I feel that everyone in the health care profession should feel the same way as I do and try to keep themselves from losing their mercy that they show towards others. After being in the health care field for so long, many people stop caring for others and become detached from the patients. I agree that we cannot take every case personally but we still need to retain our humanity and continue to show compassion to fellow
Motivation is defined as the process that guides, initiates, and maintains goal orientated behavior and thought (Cherry, 2013). Motivation is what drives individuals to do what they do, whether it is something as simple as getting a drink because he or she are thirsty or something as big as getting up every day and gong to work for a paycheck.
According to Greenberg (1999) motivation is defined "as a process of arousing, directing and maintaining behaviour towards a goal." Where directing' refers to the selection of a particular behaviour; and maintenance' refers to the inclination to behave with consistency in that manner until the desired outcome is met.
What is being rude? Being rude according to its definition is being offensively impolite or ill-mannered. In todays society, whether its at home, in school, at the store, at work, or even on social media, the act of being rude is on the rise significantly.

With compassion, people come closer together. Compassion provides love and without this emotion, humans would be isolated from one another. Love would not be considered love without compassion. It distinguishes a human from being heartless to one who cares for people other than themselves. Being compassionate leads a person away from a path of selfishness and builds strong relationships with others. The following authors did a great job of demonstrating this.
Compassion is my second trait because I hate to see people in pain mainly emotional. Any time I see someone in pain it causes me to consume their energy making me want to consult them so I can find a way for them to feel better. Nobody taught me about compassion it just a trait that I’ve learned on my own. I call myself the illegal therapist because I don’t legally have a license, but most of my friends come to me for advice about anything if it’s about issues within their relationship or if it family issues they came to me for help. I like helping people who are having issues within their relationship or are having family issues because I can learn from their personal experiences and use it for my own as well as give me a better understanding on how to read people better based on their
Some of my personality traits include; empathy, strong willed, and ambitious. Beginning with empathy, it is the ability to recognize and to share the thoughts to some extent. In many cases empathy leads to multiple good relationships. As a Support worker, I am expected to get along with others very well. These include my workmates and my patients. Being empathetic also enables me to be considerate. I am able to identify with my patients problems very well. They will therefore easily entrust me with their problems with the assurance that they won’t be criticized. In such a situation, as a Support worker I will be able to assist them without any barriers (Allen, 2006).
