As a child, I liked to watch the “behind the scenes” of a movie. My sisters and I always tried to recreate the movies I watched behind the scenes footage for – I was always the director and editor, and they were the actresses. It was around my freshmen year in school when one day I was editing a video me and my sisters had made I realized that I decided that I wanted to become a movie director. So, if I could have a ticket to go anywhere, it would be to a studio in Hollywood to direct a Hollywood movie. I know would make an astonishing movie director because I have great leadership skills. [Then talk about how you developed these skills]. being the captain of the dance ministry at my church and being vice president of the national honors society as taught great leadership skills. Additionally, being in marching band taught me how to work well with others and how to handle multiple task at once. These qualities are all good skills to have when you’re a movie director because you must know how to lead and focus on more than thing at a time. Running long distance in track for the past 8 years has taught me how to have patients and a strong drive which is also an amazing characteristic to have as a movie director in Hollywood. I would also talk to some of the actors in the movies and ask them what characteristics make up a good movie director to them. After I get all the feedback, I will compare what characteristics they think a good movie director should have and to my characteristics that I already have. After I’ve done that I will sit back a watch the work place environment of being a movie director so I can adjust myself to that type of atmosphere. Lisa Cholodenko grew up in Los Angeles and she began her film careers working as an assistant editor; however, she then moved to New York and earned an MFA in screenwriting and direction at the Columbia University School of arts. At Columbia University School of Arts, Cholodenko filmed her first short movie Dinner Party. Besides being a director, Lisa Cholodenko also was a film professor at Columbia University, an advisor and is currently on the Board of Governs of Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science. It was surprising to be able to find out how active Cholodenko is in the film industry and in the university she attended. When people think of movie directors Steven Spielberg is often the first name that pops into their head. Steven Spielberg has become an iconic film director and is well-known for his several movies including Jaws and Jurassic Park. Spielberg has an imagination and eye for directing but those are not the only skills that make him so successful, he is an incredible leader. Being a movie director requires organizing and leading the several people who work on the set and that task can be extremely overwhelming. Control freak and collaborator are two words used when describing Spielberg’s leadership style. (Joseph McBride). Spielberg has found a balance of different leadership styles and tactics that have led him to being so successful.
With this short but very interesting and informative class I have just scratched the surface of the what it takes to make a full fleged film. It takes much more than I had presumed to make a movie in Hollywood. The number of people that it takes to make a minute of a movie let alone the entire movie was astonishing to me. There are many things that it takes to start making a movie but without an idea of some sort there is no movie to be made.
From a young age, I was very curious. Curiosity caused my mind to see everything from a different perspective than most. I saw what could be improved and how I could improve. For example, when it came to editing movies, I was always able to see what could how it could have been better or I questioned how they had created it. My curiosity led me to try many different activities throughout high school, such as film camps, stage managing for plays, yearbook, and even creating videos for Rochester High School’s awards day. Finally, my junior year, I decided it was time I made films of my own for competitions. I wanted to have something that I could call my own. When it came to the two films I did for contests, I was there throughout the whole process.

You need to direct the film and make sure that the script lines are properly performed by the actors. Try to get a help of other videographers, ask for tips regarding about the suitable angles in your script lines. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
