How was your first semester? Give examples of what did and did not go as you had expected.
Overall, I think my first semester went pretty well. I honestly didn’t know what to expect; I had some ideas about how things might be, but they were pretty vague ideas, and I never really expected them to be very close to the truth. I did expect my chemistry class to be pretty easy, and that ended up being true for me. I expected to make friends early on, but that didn’t necessarily pan out like I thought. Also, I was alone in my room more than I had anticipated, because my roommate goes home every weekend. However, I was able to adapt to living in a dorm and going to class every day much more quickly than I thought I would.

I had to employ this skill in my history class the most, because we would examine historical events, and then have to tie these back to overarching patterns. These connections were rarely explicit, so it required a lot of critical thinking.
What are your academic strengths?
My academic strengths are my ability to accept new information relatively easily, and in line with this, my memory. I’ve always been able to learn most things that have come my way, and I’ve been able to retain and recall new information fairly well too, so I can spend less time getting the basics down, and more time working with applications.
What classes have you found most interesting and why?
I found my moral and social problems class fairly interesting, because I actually follow social politics pretty closely. Suffice it to say, this ended up being the class I participated the most in. It was also interesting hearing the different ways to approach certain issues, and learning about moral theory. I also liked my comparative government and politics class, because I was able to get a better grasp on political ideology both inside and outside of our
