The Everfi Course that I completed a couple months ago taught me many things about technology and many ways to stay safe, but overall what caught my attention the most was how every section of Everfi related to the topics we were learning in class. It gave me a more clear understanding of what the lessons we were learning in class. For example, I remember how in the middle of second quarter my class and I were learning about how to stay safe when navigating through the internet and social media. At first, I thought that I knew everything on how to be safe on social media, but turns out I didn't. This was when Everfi made me realize that there are many ways to stay safe that we as teenagers and adults. In the Everfi section where it all about privacy and safety I learned that just because your settings and pictures are set to private and my eyes only it doesn't mane no one can see it.This turned out to be more interesting then I taught because at some point in my life of my years of using social media there were times when I would put a post or picture so that I could only see it, and I thought that I was the only one that saw it.Based on what I learned on ever no matter how private something is people will always have access to your stuff unless the type of social media really has settings where privacy is really real. …show more content…
Another thing that I learned that was related to what we were learning in the classroom was how I always my entire life of using social media whether it was Instagram, snapchat, or facebook I always use to think that once I took something down from social media it would elte forever, but I stopped believing this once I found out on Everfi that nothing you take down ever is going away forever. I learned that yes you may take it down and think that it is gone, but the reality is nothing you delete will ever just got away like that what you post or even send stays there forever it is permanent. There was a video that talked about how you should always think what you post such as pictures or status because you may have it there for a while and decide to delete it later on,but what you don't know is how many people have seen it screenshot it, share it, or saved it for later. These were my favorite topics on everfi that I learned about and also made me understand why my classroom and I were going to learn about this because, to be honest, once my teacher told me we were going to learn about his I was like oh my god boring topic I know everything about it but turns out I didn't know enough. T be honest it was an amazing topic to learn about because it teaches us, teens, that being safe is not easy and privacy is more important than we thought and why it always important to think twice before posting something online that can ruin our lives.
Digital technology offers students a false sense of security by providing cyber-walls to hide behind. Social media provides student the sense of being alone. However the reality is they are visible t...
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile, the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
Before using Everfi I tended to spend my money on wants instead of needs or things I will eventually need in the future. It showed me really how important it was to spend my money wisely. If you spend your money on things you want or blow your money something will come up like a bill that you have to pay and you won’t have enough money to pay it. This wasn’t saying that you can’t spend your money on anything but needs, it was simply saying that it is important to have a budget or keep track of how much money you have at all times.
In the Critical Care setting where I have most of my experience, I have developed strong Critical thinking and good clinical judgment. These two are essential in this setting, as patients’ lives are in our hands. A nurse with both these skills can recognize symptoms and conditions act accordingly to prevent deterioration. In critical care one develops other great skills as well, to include intuition, strong assessment skills and anticipation. I believe these skills will make the transition to the APRN role easier. The reason is because APRNs rely heavily on strong assessment skills and clinical judgment to make an appropriate and accurate diagnosis. They must possess strong critical thinking and clinical knowledge. In the Critical care setting
What would you do in order to survive? I quickly learned what EOD members needed to survive as the worked under dangerous conditions. Yes, I worked alongside the Army’s elite bomb squad, EOD.His shirt was silly but I quickly after learning about the EOD I learned what the t-shirt was truly about. EOD’s language community is about the need to survive
Do you ever think about how much technology has changed the way we work, learn, play, and even think? Technology is a major beneficiary to society; especially in the classroom where we get the opportunity to learn and grow. In recent years, schools have begun implementing tablets and other devices in the classroom to better student’s education. The use of technology in the classroom provides more of a personalized learning experience and gives students a widespread availability to engage in learning. Technology is necessary in today’s modern globe, it is basically “the pen and paper of our time and the lens through which we experience much of our world” (Warlick, 2013). Technology is not just considered the “internet”, it is so much greater than that. Overall, it enhances the quality of education and engages students deeper than ever before. With all the significant gains, why would people argue that technology hinders students more than it helps? Critics may try to repute the use of technology in the classroom but I believe what really matters “is the way we use it, the context that we use it in, and the learners who we use it for” (Chong, 2012).
Older generations would tell stories about how the technology one now has, did not exist in their days. Currently, it is something one cannot live without; especially for students who use their laptops for registering online for classes, written assignments, taking notes in Word documents, doing researches now that databases and libraries are available online, and viewing the PowerPoint slides along with the professor when he is lecturing. Because personal laptops are not being monitored, professors have little control of what a student is doing on their laptops while sitting in his or her classroom. An article by Carrie B. Fried entitled, In-Class Laptop Use and Its Effects on Student Learning, she stated that out of the participating surveyors that she surveyed, “64.3% reported using their laptops...
We live in a society where technology has made life so much easier for the majority of the population. However, many international students struggle in traditional classroom. While technology is pervasive in other fields, it is not as widespread in the field of education. Can you imagine how social media like Skype, Facebook, What’s up, or others are affecting our lives? Many studies show that during our age in time, people spend most of their day viewing screens of a phone, computer, ipod, laptop, or Television (TV); this is because people love the connectivity and convenience.
There are places and content offline that is inappropriate to students and so it is online. This has been a major concern for educators and the society as a whole. However this does not deter the increased use of technology including social media in the classroom. Social media tools have become a part of people’s lives so it is easy to integrate it in the classroom, (Brooks, 2014). However, there are many risks associated with integrating social media tools in the classroom just as there are risks associated with the traditional use of online tools. E-safety issue is one of the major risks involved in the use of social media tools in the classroom as there is a risk of putting students’ safety and privacy at risk. According to (Mackenzie, 2012), several risks involved: computer security, issues relating to antivirus, password and firewall as well as email scams. Faculty and administration along with the students need to be aware of the risks entailed in the use of social media in the classrooms.
Spring Arbor University makes a big deal about their Core classes, but at times it feels like they are a joke. Then students begin to realize the purpose behind all of it. Core 100 is a class designed to get the college career started off with the correct footing. The activities and events that affected my life the most were the Monday lectures, the Real Relationships readings, and the in class discussions. None of these alone would have been sufficient, but in tandem they provide an illuminating education into how our interactions with others shape who we are and what we become.
To achieve high quality digital learning students continually have access to the digital content and online resources. It is a fact that digital learning has no physical boundaries; therefore student can connect from any place and have 24 hours access to the enormous scholastic and learning resources available on Internet [2f]. Technology has its impact on teaching methods and the ways knowledge is acquired. Thus, the teachers and school administrators of the 21st century must understand that in present environment, it is essential to shift our focus from educating students to lifelong learning for
Whilst we all share one or more common languages it is our background, culture and life experiences that mold us and the way we speak into the person we are today, making each individual unique and differentiating our idiolects which is a persons distinctive use of language.
In recent years computers have opened many new opportunities for students and teachers. Technology has advanced past books and black boards. There are more and more computers going into schools everyday. With the world changing into a computer world teaching how do to use technology is necessary. With the new tools that teachers use learning for students is not only more interesting but, more fun. The Internet has helped education leaps and bounds. With the Internet we are able to take classes online from hundreds of miles away while still feeling like you are in the classroom. Distance learning is very accessible in this day and age. With the distance learning older people who have to work can now get educated in there own home on there own time. Also with the Internet students can research many verities of subjects in a short amount of time. New software makes learning easy for even the youngest of grades. Computers in the classroom are a vital and necessary component to making a students education enjoyable and educational.
As time goes by, advances in technology will provide more and more avenues for learning by way of the computer. The Internet has opened the doors of the world and unleashed limitless possibilities in research and education. It may be only a matter of time when the classroom is brought online to all children and attending a school classroom outside the home is a thing of the past. Looking back over the last 20 years, I never would have imagined that computers would come this far and impact our lives so much. Just imagine where they will be 20 years from now.
Technology have changed the way teachers are now accountable to teach, and the way students are learning. During this course I have learned key implications of new
