This case deals with how the customer-centric process helps support project management. Customer-centric process is used to ensure that the collaboration between the project managers and team members is clear and concise. The primary focus is the process of answering questions and addressing issues sooner rather than later which could impact the communication between the project manager and the (customers) which are stakeholders by providing quality customer service. As Dr. Matulovic background was from process development, he felt that the problem was more towards governance and process. He did a great job of getting the team under one umbrella, and also installing a system with process driven approach, responsibility for the weekly report and monthly budget checks. PMO did what was deemed necessary from and IT team, they started working towards on-schedule and on-budget projects and there were qualified project Managers who were responsible for the Management of IT projects.
It is possible to have a singular methodology for project management to specify morality and ethics when dealing with customers. Application of agile project management approaches like Atern offer a more inclusive approach for stakeholders including consistent update and revision of strategies. When the project manager violates protocol, all stakeholders should come together, clarify issues of violation, and set standards for all to follow.
Based on this case study, acceptance of the formal project management has brought many questions which need clear answers, to understand the situation and have less managerial problems.
Action #1: Training in project management. As stated in the case, these organizations were at different levels of project management maturity, including two of them that were “clueless” about project management. As their goal was to implement an enterprise project management methodology, training in project management represent the first step in this endeavor. It will also help them to create a general and common understanding of what project management is and how it should be implemented, as the other tow companies that knew and implemented project management, exert their implementation in a different way.

They are goal oriented, have a definite start and finish time, must be done within cost, schedule and quality parameters. Based on this, it is clear that projects are of utmost importance to businesses in both the service and the manufacturing industries.

The Project Management Office (PMO) is an essential support structure in an organisation that generally acts as a source for guidance, documentation, and metrics related to the practices involved in managing and implementing projects within an organisation. Their form can range from that of a department, body, entity, or group, however their underlying responsibility is defining and maintaining project management standards and guidance in a repeatable process within an organisation – i.e. their responsibility is to oversee and manage a project, which is a process that connects all other project activities and processes together.
Project management is a discipline based on careful planning, organization, motivation and control of resources to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria. Since every project is unique in nature, a project manager must learn to adapt and identify key areas to drive success. Thus, as a learning initiative, we were given a project to manage through a simulation program named Sim4Project. The emphasis of this simulation was on learning-by-doing, just like in a real-life project. Sim4Project provided a good mix of theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience. Professor Leonie gave feedbacks at the end of each period to ensure we were incorporating the project management principles learned in the classroom.
Often, the goals and visions of the projects are not clearly discussed. The project management team doesn’t understand the needs of the organization.

AtekPC has an informal way of communication where requests for new projects are done between the lead analysts and the manager of the division. Changing this informal approach to a formal one might be difficult but can be done by explaining to employees the strengths and advantages of this process. The lack of skilled personnel in the PMO is an obstacle that can be overcome by training the current mangers and hiring new staff members. The success of PMO depends on the buy-in of the executive leadership, which if delayed can erode the value of PMO and have a negative impact on the project. There is a high risk that PMO might been seen as an authoritative figure and might face resistance, it is extremely important to clearly set the expectations to avoid misunderstandings.
