HUNGRY FOR CHANGE
In this hunger crisis we are living in, there is still a way for us to make a difference on a worldwide scale.


1 on 9 people go to bed starving. That’s approximatively 3 students in an average class. That’s 815 million people throughout the world. Scary, right? Especially knowing some countries can waste up to $160 billion worth of food in a year, like the United States or Canada, for example.
Severe hunger is merciless, specifically with young children. According to studies, “Children who are malnourished in their first 1,000 days of life may suffer cognitive and physical impairment.” It’s not about being hungry, it’s about the degradation of their capacity of speaking, thinking, or even walking like any healthy child. …show more content…

The non-governmental organisation World Food Program has a mission to eradicate world hunger by providing aid and supplies in emergencies all over the world, a mission commonly called “Zero Hunger”. Working in over 80 countries like Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan and many more, they collect funds to send food assistance, but also humanitarian help. And the beauty of it is that those are only a fraction of their goals as a NGO.
Indeed, why would we stop ourselves at putting a rest to famine? There’s so much to be done out there! That’s exactly what WFP told themselves. Not only they help societies in times of crisis, they also lead them towards a sustainable way to administrate their resources and build resilience for food security. Why? Because with tools such as sustainability and resilience, communities will be more prepared for any crisis they might encounter, which reduce their need in continuous humanitarian help.
Now you’re probably wondering how they can achieve such impressive goals. This organisation has a very evocative slogan: “We can end hunger – IF we end conflict”. Part of their ways of proceeding starts by educating generations on sustainability and how to make the most of what you have. With 84 offices around the world, they invite entire societies to learn how to manage in crisis and, hopefully, reduce the risks of conflict for the next
