Two ethical principle that I feel I do well in implementing into my life are veracity and fidelity. Veracity consist of being truthful and honest. Those are two qualities that I highly value in relationships. In my level I fieldwork I was asked to provide feedback about the facility and my experience. My experience was not what I had expected and I wanted to be truthful with my fieldwork coordinator and the facility. I provided constructive feedback and was honest with my experience. I did not feel uncomfortable providing feedback and I believe I articulated my concerns appropriately. An important concept to understand with veracity is that being truthful does not entail being mean. In the contract activity this semester, I was provided positive feedback from my peers on how I tell them the truth. They stated that sometimes it is not what they desire to hear but they still appreciate it because I am honest and kind about it. I believe that my truth and honestly will also help me build healthy relationship as I progress in my career. Fidelity is also an important ethical principle that I demonstrate in my everyday life. I personally did not want to be a manager. I did not know how this class would facilitate my career. In truth, this class has taught me an abundance of information. I now know the difference of a mentor, leader, superior, and manager. I know now you can be in all these roles without having the title of one. I think an aspect I would have benefited from this semester is seeing all these roles in one situation, if at all possible. I believe a role play on how these roles function in the health care setting would be beneficial for the class.
