In terms of ethical considerations in my research, I believe it is very essential for all educators or any other professionals to show ethical considerations to other people because every individual should be protected by specific equal rights. According to Mertler (2014), the primary responsibility of an educator-researcher is to make sure that action research adheres to ethical standards. For instance, in my school, if any teacher wants to do a research study or video tape one of their classes, he or she needs to go to the office to get permission and complete school forms and give those forms to parents to discuss the research study. Later he or she needs to go through a school process to ensure that the study is done in such a manner as to protect the rights of the student. In one of the assigned readings, it is emphasized that when an educator is doing an action research, he or she must get permission not only from students but from parents also (Mertler, 2014).
One of the ethical principles that is most important in relation to educational research personally is that all educators should maintain confidentiality all the time in and out of school grounds. As professionals, we also have the responsibility to obtain permission from parents and students to protect student’s rights if we plan to do any research in or outside the classroom. According to Holian and Coghlan (2013), they emphasize that when creating a research, the researcher must be ethical and must keep all information confidential. In addition, if we are doing any action research project in school, researcher cannot use the actual names of students or teachers and keep it confidential. According to Mertler (2014), if an educator plans to use data collected from p...

... progress and find out the effect in using motivational strategies in the classroom using a specific lesson. I believe the ethical consideration that I have for my research is to keep student’s information confidential as well as other colleagues. The purpose of my research study in to find out what would the effect academically using motivational strategies with my students. Doing this research will help me meet the need of students as well as improve my instruction methods by adjusting to their needs. The timeline is as follows:
Week one:
• Give and collect parental consent forms
Week two:
• Pre-Assessment
Week three:
• Implementing new strategy working in cooperative groups
Week four:
• Monitor/feedback and continue utilizing motivational strategy
Week five:
• Implement motivational strategy plus administer a post-assessment
Week six:
• Analyze the data gathered
The Alabama Educator Code of Ethics is designed for every educator in the state of Alabama. The Code must be implemented for the safety of students and educators. The goal of the Alabama Code of Ethics can be accomplished as long as all educators value the worth and dignity of all students, parents, and staff. There are nine Alabama Educator Code of Ethics and Standard 1: Professional Conduct, Standard 4: Teacher/Student Relationship and Standard 5: Alcohol, Drug and Tobacco Use of Possession are the most important standards.
Ideally schools in the United States are considered by both parents and students alike to be “safe-havens” where parents can trust their children to learn and remain safe during the day and where students can feel safe in a well-maintained learning environment. However within this fully regulated government service, there are often debates over proper classroom environments, teaching tactics, and privacy issues. Today the main privacy issue in public schools is where to draw the line between keeping the school safe and maintaining the privacy of the students (Boomer par. 19). Searches and seizures in schools are not recent issues; however they are becoming more public now than in recent years.
By incorporating the theories of Piaget and Maslow into lesson planning, I can choose realistic and meaningful instructional strategies and designate assignments at the appropriate challenge level. My goal is to motivate my students to strive for their best and provide them an environment where they can successfully prepare for college and life. Mary Kay Ash was phenomenal at motivation and said it best: “Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.” (Ash). Knowing that each class will be different and that what works for one class may not work for another will aid me in being an effective, efficient
How can research done in the past, teach psychologists anything that we can use today? Today therapists know more, and are more intelligent than past psychologists, right? Therapists learn by building on what past psychologists have taught us. The studies began long ago and each time we go back to the past to understand more of what we are learning in the present. Some experiments that psychologists have learned about ethics is John Watson’s tests on Albert, Mary Cover Jones and her test on Peter, and The Monster Study, these research tests teach us about some bad ethical decisions and what needs to be done to change the outcome of these violations.
Research is viewed as a scientific human endeavour that is organised according to a range of protocols, methods, guidelines and legislation (Gerrish & Lacey, 2010). Research ethics is that domain of enquiry that identifies ethical challenges with a view to developing guidelines that safeguard against any harm and protects the rights of human subjects in research (Rogers, 2008).
Special education is ever changing, making it important for teachers to change with it. With the current paradigm shift to a family-centered relationship in mind, individual teachers must look at their ethical statements (Amatea, 2013). These statements must focus on areas with role obligations, such as, practitioner, colleague, leadership, community resource, advocate, and representative of the field of special education. By incorporating these elements into my ethical practices I will be able to help each student progress successfully throughout his/her elementary education. Howe and Miramontes (1992) state special education has a strong ethical mission with decisions that have lifelong ramifications for individuals. Decisions that are made
Ethics refers to the values and customs of a community at a particular point in time. At present, the term ethics is guided by the moral principles that guide our everyday actions. These moral principles guide the researcher into deciding what is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. The foundation of medical ethics is governed by two philosophical frameworks that are deontology, and utilitarianism. However ultimately the ethics committees need to balance the risks, and benefits for the participants and the community associated with the particular research proposal. This balance is quite important as the well being of participants is at risk.7
Code of ethics act as a promise to protect and support the safety of individuals in society, supports as a leading light it help the supporters of an occupation, resolve ethical problems and act as a protector the community. A code of ethics discloses and conserves the current viewpoint professionals on in what way to make ethical decisions. It stresses importance on obligation to moral values and vital beliefs. Application of a code of ethics helps us to guarantee that members of the profession will be accountable for their actions. It helps us to learn about the responsibility we have for ourselves, our colleagues and to the social structure of the profession. It is essential that the present and future psychologist should be aware of the formal ethical codes of practices in psychology. The American Psychological Association (APA) developed this formal Ethics Code which demonstrates the approaches to the psychologist about logical, educational, and clinical behaviors to be followed while working as a licensed person. By applying the ethical code a psychologist can identify ethical issues, interrelate with others professionally. This can inhibit and solve ethical dilemmas, and he /she will be able achieve their professional protagonists and responsibilities.
This clinical psychologist is faced to ethical dilemmas of teaching a class that he is not competent in teaching, as well as a conflict of interest with the department chair that understands his dilemma, but wants him to abandon his principles and compromise ethics. American Psychologist Association (APA) developed ethical principles and codes to assist psychologist when they are faced with ethical dilemmas. Utilitarianism and Kant’s Formalist Theory are two models of ethical reasoning the psychologist can concerned in determine how to this dilemma as well. Gary Ford has also written an ethical decision making process that can guide psychologist in gathering information to their ethical dilemmas.
Gonzalez-Lopez (2011), posits that researchers should place participants at the center of their ethical preoccupations either while identifying potential study participants or conducting interviews-mindful ethics established clear limits to my intellectual curiosity, which in the end became secondary to the most obvious, but also the more nuanced and delicate risks participants or potential participants faced. Irwin (2006), argued that there is no basic ethical advantage of subjectivity over objectivity, friendship over friendliness, intimacy over distance, celibacy over sex, crime over legality, disclosure over silence, or experimental writing over traditional discourse but researchers should locate how intimate or distant relationship, behaviors, emotions, writing and other research choices are constrained by, work against, or reinforce social structures. Rupp and Taylor (2011) reflected about their experiences that confirmed that researcher’s commitment to engaging in ethical field research can help bring about social change by going back to the research participant after
It is first important to understand how motivation works in the classroom. There are infinite procedures teachers use to achieve desired effects from their students, but there are general patterns these motivational tools follow. In order for teachers to communicate with their students, they must identify with their needs on an individual basis (Gawel, 1997). This proposal is much akin to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, which states five basic needs that must be met in order to achieve full motivation. These needs, in ascending order, are as follows: physiological, security, love and belongingness, esteem and self-respect, and self-actualization (Gawel, 1997). Each of these needs details a very important issue in motivation inside the classroom and out.
“Ethics are defined as a set of principles of right conducts; the rules or standards governing the conduct of a person or the members of a profession” ( Dictionary of the Human Language, 2000). Teachers are often put in situations that require more than just knowing the basic school rules. It is within these situations, that the ethical dilemmas occur. There is not always a right way to deal with many daily problems that face educators, but there are ways to handle situations that are better then others.
Ethics is the study of moral values and the principles we use to evaluate actions. Ethical concerns can sometimes stand as a barrier to the development of the arts and the natural sciences. They hinder the process of scientific research and the production of art, preventing us from arriving at knowledge. This raises the knowledge issues of: To what extent do moral values confine the production of knowledge in the arts, and to what extent are the ways of achieving scientific development limited due to ethical concerns? The two main ways of knowing used to produce ethical judgements are reason, the power of the mind to form judgements logically , and emotion, our instinctive feelings . I will explore their applications in various ethical controversies in science and arts as well as the implications of morals in these two areas of knowledge.
Student motivation can be affected by several factors. These elements include parent involvement, teacher enthusiasm, rewards, peers, the learner’s environment, personal experiences, personal interests of the student, and self-esteem and self-image.
Motivation is really important tool in a learning environment. Also motivation effects student learning and their behavior as well. It directs behavior towards particular targets. Also it effect the decision which students takes. In motivation mainly we have two types which is intrinsically and extrinsically being motivated. For example: when a student is intrinsically motivated they just do it for themselves not because of the reward that they will get back. It’s just because they have their own interest and they enjoy doing that. On the other side, when a student is extrinsically motivated they just do it for the reward that they will get. That’s why in learning process it’s important that each student should
