Over several years, psychologist and other scholars have studied the personality types of a variety of people in many different environments. Much of the studies emphasize how different personalities effects humans within their daily lives. These personalities have been divided and revealed as Extravert or Introvert, Sensor or Intuitive, Thinking or Feeling, and Judging or Perceiving; all of which can be classified in sixteen different personality types. I find myself frequently “’ Security Seeking’” as stated by David Keirsey after further research on the sixteen personality types (“The Four Temperaments,” n.d., para. 2). As a single mother making sure my young daughter is safe at all times and as a manager protecting my employees from any unexpected situations are very important to me. These aspects of life help me bring out the best that is within me. The attitude (hesed), the process (mutual accountability), and structure (federalism) are what makes the organization a healthy place to be a part of (Fischer, 2009). Within my organization, I want to maintain long-term, mutual relationships with my peers and treat them how I would want to be treated, very similar to our God’s covenant with man (Fischer, 2009). In particular, my personality test helped me better understand my place within the organization to help us drive the results we seek. I have found that the overall morale of the work environment has also become more pleasant. Several of the employees are also noticing the change in me and are no longer finding my work related comments being offensive or disrespectful. For example, I was planning for new merchandise to arrive for my Kids department, when time had passed me and I was not able to complete the task within that day. To make sure I was able to complete the task and not cause any conflicts with the Stock Lead, I asked the Store Manager to switch my shift, so I was able to be there when the new merchandise arrived. Luckily, there was plenty of time to adjust the schedule. The day of the delivery, the merchandise was placed within the store in a timely fashion, not causing any unwanted headaches to happen to my ISTP Stock Lead employee, and giving our customers more options to purchase. The purpose of this analysis is to identify my personality type, temperament, and how it relates to my behavior and success in the workplace. The first phase of this paper is to identify my four letter personality type using the Jung Typology Test which is based on Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs Myers personality type theory (Jung Typology Test, 2016). I will also discuss where I fall within Keirsey’s Temperaments; this personality typing combines two of the four sets of preferences in to four distinct temperament categories (Personalitypage, 2015a). Keirsey identified four basic temperaments known as Guardian, Rational, Artisan, and Idealist (Keirsey, n.d.). I will explain each of the four letters of my type and provide specific examples of how they relate to me in both a professional and personal level. In the final phase I will discuss my personality strengths and weaknesses and how I can use the assessment for overall personal growth.
Myers-Brigs is a personality assessment that focuses on specific traits that allow a person to capture a deeper understanding of who they are and what exactly makes them an individual. These traits are the person’s core personality of who they are behind closed doors, not how they would desire to behave. These traits are inborn and are the natural emotional reaction to the environment around us. There are four sections of the Meyers Briggs with two options in each section. Each person who completes the personality assessment is assigned four letters that represent their personal personality type. A summary is given that delves deeper into what those four letters represent. The summary includes, but is not limited to, strengths and weaknesses, relationships, and careers.

The Myers-Briggs Type indicator is an instrument designed to measure the elements of Jungian personality theory and makes the theory of psychological type both understandable and highly practical by helping individuals identify their preferences in four areas. According to the MBTI, I have a moderate preference for Introversion, a clear preference for Sensing, a slight preference for Feeling, and a clear preference for Judging (ISFJ). In general, ISFJs are sympathetic, loyal, considerate, conscientious, and will go through any amount of trouble to help those in need (Hirsh&Kummerow,1989).

There is so many different personalities in the world, and how boring would it be if we all acted the same. “Every society and social group has values, experiences, and understandings that are widely shaped among members but may not be endorsed by those outside of the culture or group” (Wood, 2016, p.54). This is your personal identity , which is how you choose to live your life and what you stand for. Your idenity can be shared closly with other people. However, your personality is uniquily your own, this is the way you have decided to represent your idenity (Hontoy, 2015). I learned that I am an ESTJ type, extravert (19%), sensing (12%), thinking (1%), and judging (44%). Some of the concepts that I read about my personality type I recognized in myself and some opened my eyes to new concepts about myself (Humanmetrics, 2016).

Both are said to measure naturally occurring differences between people, identified as “temperament” and “personality type”, respectively. After taking the personality test, I learned my general personality type is “The Consul” (ESFJ-A). Individual traits of my personality type are more extroverted than introverted, more observant than intuitive, more feeling than thinking, more judging than prospecting, and more assertive than turbulent.
