Sin and Salvation
There are many people in the world that are confused about sin and salvation. Over the years people have done research to help others understand what exactly sin and salvation is. The Bible gives a clear explanation of the four different parts to sin. Then it gives a way for unbelievers to turn from their sin and receive the gift of salvation.
Every man that has lived or ever will live has a sin nature, except for Jesus. When God made Adam and Eve, He made them to have a free will. Even though the world was perfect and had no sin, when Satan tempted Eve to eat of the tree, She had a choice to make if she would eat of the tree or not. When she made the choice to listen to Satan and disobey God, sin then entered the world and changed everything (Chafer 174).
Sin is anything that goes against the will of God. People know what the will of God is, because God gave them the Bible. There are four parts to Sin. The first is personal

sin, these are usually daily life sins. Romans 3:23 says “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (KJV). That verse explains that everyone has sinned. A second part of sin is that every man has a sin nature. Every man is born with a sin nature. It is not that a person is born and then they become a sinner, but they are born a sinner. A sin nature is when there is something of the world that is displeasing to the Lord, but the flesh of the person wants to follow the way of the world (Chafer 178). Romans 5:19 says “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (KJV). The verse tells about how Adam and Eve had a sin nature and they decided to give into temptation, and now the entire world and everyone in it has been affected by their decision. But by Jesus’ obedience everyone a chance to be made righteous, and have an eternal life in heaven if they accept the gift of salvation. The third way that sin is discussed in the Bible is the fact that “man’s intellect is corrupted and depraved, and his heart and understanding are blinded” (Chafer 179). In Ephesians 4:18, it says, “having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart” (KJV). Finally, the last part of sin mentioned is in Romans 5:12-18 when sin was placed in the world. When Adam and Eve sinned, sin became part of the human race (Chafer 179). God sent His son for the sin to be placed on Jesus, giving the people the gift of Salvation. God has given the gift of Salvation to everyone. Salvation is a “message which God has committed to the believer to proclaim to the world and alone disclose the full measure of God’s love” (Chafer 181). By God giving us the gift of Salvation it shows the whole work of God, and that He rescues man from their own sin and eternity in hell and gives man His grace and eternal life in heaven. In John 2:9b it says “Salvation is of the Lord” (KJV). That verse shows that “ it is in every aspect a work of God on behalf of man and is in no sense a work of man in behalf of God” (Chafer 181). Since everyone is born a sinner, it does not matter what they do; if it is taking God’s name in vain or murdering someone, they are both separated from eternal life with God. Sin has two facts that are very important to be known. The first being that it does not matter who the sin is committed by, it is seen equally in God's eyes and that the only thing that can pay the price for sin is the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Chafer 182). Salvation has changed since before and after Christ.
Before Christ came, they would choose an animal to sacrifice to God. When they made this sacrifice it did not take away the sin. In Hebrews 10:4 clearly tells them “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins” (KJV). Even though this does not forgive the sinner, it is the fact that the sinner has acknowledged his sins, and the penalty of death. By their sacrificing of the animals they acknowledged the effectiveness of the coming blood of Christ (Chafer 183). In Leviticus 1:4 it states “And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him” (KJV). After Jesus came and died on the cross for the sins of the people, they no longer had to make an animal sacrifice. The shedding of Jesus’s blood is the same as the shedding of the animal blood. People now have to realize that they are sinners and believe that God died on the cross for them and to trust in Him (Chafer
183). Sin is all around the world and everybody struggles with sinful temptations. God loves the people so much that before and after the death of Jesus, He provided a way for sinners to have salvation. People have to turn from their ways and the ways of the world and become a believer of Christ.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines sin as “an offense against religious or moral law”. People have many motivations to sin: greed, self-gain, and pleasure being prominent examples. In “The Scarlet Letter”, Hester Prynne is convinced that her husband is not coming to meet her at their new home in the colonies because she believes that he may have died. She then has an affair setting in motion the events of the story. In “Frankenstein”, Victor Frankenstein does not help his creation assimilate into society; this results in the deaths of several of Victor’s loved ones at the hand of his creation. In “Idylls of the King”, Pelleas becomes the Red Knight of the North after seeing the unfaithfulness of Guinevere to King Arthur and being rejected
Sin is a lie. It is a way for rulers to create and have order in society. What is sin? Sin is what a pastor on Sunday persuades a group of people to believe in because they can’t make decisions
He didn’t want us to sin, as we were to be perfect in his eyes. But that all went away after Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command to not eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and this is when sin was introduced into the world (the Fall). Sin is now just a human nature thing in us and now we keep making poor choices as we have the “sin” blood in us and we need to make the right choices daily to keep us sin free.
Next, Augustine details what sin and iniquity is noting that those who sin is also does immoral behavior and that sin is also
NLT). We are not to walk away from sin we are to run! God makes it clear. Sin is not a bargaining tool that we allow certain sins to be more deadly than others are. Sin is sin.
According to dictionary.com sin is defined as “any act regarded as such a transgression, especially a willful or deliberate violation of some religious or moral principle.” In each literary work, each of the protagonists committed a sin or injustice, whether to a god(s) or to society. As mentioned above Okonkwo committed a sin to the earth goddess of the Igbo by murdering the elder clansman. Odysseus committed sin to the Greek God Poseidon by stabbing Poseidon 's Cyclops son in the eye, causing Poseidon to destroy Odysseus’ ship. Dante committed sin upon his respective society by going against the Catholic Church and public opinion forcing him to become an exile. However, being exiled through religious and societal beliefs led these protagonists along a spiritual journey in which each achieved spiritual enlightenment from. According to bibliotecapleyades.net, religion is defined as:
The result of sin, then, would be considered a blurring of the image of God and a barrier between God and man. In addition, salvation is a process not of justification, but of reestablishing man's communion with God (Ware 155-161).
...seph, and since Mary was a virgin there was no sin passed along. I have also discussed that since this doctrine believes that everyone is born with sin that everyone has to be saved and baptized to receive the gift of heaven. The purpose of Baptism is to wash away original sin and to restore the individual to an innocent state. The Doctrine of Original Sin is a very controversial subject among the denominations today for many reasons, there will probably always be differences in beliefs about this doctrine and there is probably not going to be any advances for common ground in the near future.
sin entered the world according to the Greeks due to the fighting among all the gods. The constant fighting and bickering put jealousy and selfishness between the gods, causing sin to enter the world. After Prometheus created humans on this earth they were punished with the characteristics of these gods. “However, he left the human race defenseless, with no natural weapon in this new kingdom” (Greek Creation). The explanation of sin also leads to the next question the myths try to answer, why do bad things happen?
The sinful nature refers to the inherited and innate drive of human beings toward sin because of the “original corruption” committed by Adam and Eve. Prior to Adam and Eve’s fall, they walked blameless and innocent in the Garden with God, without shame and without sin.
Sin is elusive. It hides behind our motives and intentions. Sin will parade in a garment that looks stunningly beautiful but when uncovered there is nothing but ugliness and wickedness hiding underneath. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean.” ( Mt. 23:27 NIV) Sin masquerades deceptively as something it is not. Laying the groundwork which led to Eve’s questioning the trustworthiness of God concerning the forbidden fruit the serpent said “Ye shall not surely die: (Gen. 3 :4b KJV ). The insertion
What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
Sin has been defined as many things by many groups throughout the ages. In the Old Testament it was defined as a failure to hit a mark or an attitude of rebellion. In the New Testament it is defined as failing to conform to a standard or as a condition. However, we must decide for ourselves what it means in our own lives. The Holy Spirit will guide us in our definition. Without being taught right and wrong we still are able to decipher between the two.
Jesus Christ was the light that came to earth to brighten the lives of the people. He taught phenomenal and meaningful lessons that changed many hearts and caused people to accept Jesus as their Lord. Jesus Christ is the life of Christianity; the Word of God in flesh. His life, his ministry, and his crucifixion where prophesied long before he was born and Christians believe that they were all fulfilled. He had so much love for human kind that he came to earth to die for the sins of the people, so that their souls would be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who taught memorable life lessons and performed astonishing miracles during his ministry.
In The Essential Elements of Sin, Towns (2012), strategically breaks down the two concepts of conditional sin and temptation further into depth. When it comes to understanding the idea of temptation, Towns (2012) states that acting upon and setting that desire into motion is what causes man to commit an actual sin. When man is placed in a situation in which he is being tempted to sin, that temptation he is feeling should not be confused with a natural human instinct. James 1:13 (International Standard Version) states, “when someone is tempted, he should not say, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ because God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.” Hence, it was Adam and Eve’s reaction of giving into the serpent’s lies that caused them to fall into temptation and disobey
