sin entered the world according to the Greeks due to the fighting among all the gods. The constant fighting and bickering put jealousy and selfishness between the gods, causing sin to enter the world. After Prometheus created humans on this earth they were punished with the characteristics of these gods. “However, he left the human race defenseless, with no natural weapon in this new kingdom” (Greek Creation). The explanation of sin also leads to the next question the myths try to answer, why do bad things happen?
Due to the sinning mentioned in each story, it is an explanation leading to suffering in the world. In “The Creation of the World” the suffering and the death mentioned is the killing of the buffalo. This buffalo is killed due to the survival needs of humans. “ Maheo realized that his people walking on the earth had certain needs” (Cheyanne 15). But, in the “Coyote and the Origin of Death” suffering was brought to the world due to an animal. Maheo loved humans very much and was understanding towards them. He created the earth for his people, although he could not created humans all by himself he worked hard to make it as perfect as possible. “What good is Power, Maheo asked himself, if it is not used to make a world and people to live in it” (Cheyanne 11). Just like Maheo, God created the world for his people.
