2. Define what servant leadership means to you. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this style of leadership in a modern business enterprise? What does John 15:9-17 say about servant leadership? How can we avoid making servant leadership just another tactic for success?
Servant leadership is a set of practices that enhances the lives of individuals; in some cases it builds better organizations and just a more caring workplace. The advantages are obvious it gives you a more caring workplace. I think happy workers are more productive workers. A disadvantage would be you always have selfish people that are working for themselves and not for the team that would take advantage of you and the workforce. In the first part of John we are to love one another as we love ourselves. We are to keep the commandments and abide in His love. In the second half of John talks about being friends of Jesus and that we are no longer slaves we know what the master is doing but He has called us friends. “For all things I’ve heard from my father I have made known to you.”(NASB). Everything we do in the workplace to get workers to work more productively I would consider tactics. There is a fine line between too much leniency and not enough leniency in the work place, so the way to avoid making servant leadership just another tactic is to have a nice balance.
4. is the statement, “good ethics is good business,” really true? Is this sufficient motivation for ethical behavior you are in the workplace or is something else needed? Discuss. How does Matthew 6:33 apply to this maxim?
I think good ethics is good business. You make the employees feel ownership in an organization, to which they will go the extra mile to meet the customers’ needs, and away...

2d. I didn’t see these two types of sexual harassment in the book but just from past work experiences I do know of these two types of sexual harassment. Quid Pro Quo occurs when an employee gets on the promotion track or even gets to keep his/her job is based on if the employee submitted to or rejected sexual advances or inappropriate sexual comments. Another type is “Hostile work environment.” This type of sexual harassment occurs when a co-worker or supervisor in the workplace makes sexual advances or comments to an employee that makes the working environment of the employee offensive and hostile. In general, the comments tend to affect the employee's ability to do her job.
Servant leadership, as defined by Kretiner and Kinkicki (2015, p.486), is putting the needs of others, including employees, customers, and community ahead of one’s own needs. This management style requires selflessness and humility from management so the organization can focus on serving key stakeholders. There are ten characteristics of a servant-leader as identified in the text
Most cultures I find relate in many ways. They all display characteristics of servant leadership. I discovered that the Indian culture holds one to moral and ethics within the culture and religion. In a mirror image of Christians, Indians believe that your destiny is base off the seeds one sows while here on earth. The Indian culture does not recognize their beliefs and morals as servant leadership and have a different way of presenting the concept. One of the ways that one will find that servant leadership is presented different is in their religious practice of Hindu. Over all the Indian culture diverse context and religion
The Servant Leader discusses the importance of leaders who adopt a service oriented attitude in which they care for the needs of others before their own. A servant leader need not be an actual servant or have ever been a servant to become a servant leader. Rather, a servant leader is born with or adopts an “others first” disposition. Climbing through the ranks may help to create a servant leader, though it is not necessary. When leaders choose to see that the needs of their followers or their organizations are the highest priority they become servants.
Servant leadership is a philosophy and set of practices that augments the lives of individuals, builds better organizations, and creates a more just and caring world, they put the team first, and themselves second (MindTools, 2015). Servant leaders are able to demonstrate their traits through interaction with followers and other leaders within the organization. The characteristics of servant leaders include their commitment to the growth of people, stewardship, and building community, and provide leaders with the opportunity to experience change and to invite followers to change (Savage-Austin & Honeycutt 2011). Servant leadership encourages leaders and followers to ‘raise one another to higher levels of motivation and morality’, and set their leadership focus: follower’s first, organizations second, their own needs last (Sendjaya, Sarros, & Santora, 2008). The servant leader focuses on the needs of others to include team members.
First is quid pro quo sexual harassment, which is when a supervisor demands sexual favors for employment or employment benefits. The second form of sexual harassment is hostile work environment harassment, which is when an employee frequently makes unwanted sexual comments, advancements, or anything similar to another employee (Moran, 2014). All six requirements must be met in order for the claim to be considered sexual harassment.
Servant leadership can be thought of as an inverted triangle where the leader is supporting the organization at the point. As a result of this leadership style, leaders are more in tune with their teams. They have more insight on their team and the inner workings of their organizations.
In my conclusion, business ethics is the key to a successful business. Personal values plays a main factor to help you in business. “Whatever you do, work hearty, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23). In my business and personal life, I will make sure everything I do is from the heart and for the Lord. I will never put materialistic things over the works and calling of the
Vocation is our call to be the best that we can be, each of us in our own way, so that we may better ourselves and society. Servant leadership is the truest fulfillment of our responsibility to charity and social concern. Servant leadership provides a charismatic self-identification, and thus we can better define our lives and commit ourselves to a fruitful vocation.
Sexual harassment is unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of sexual nature. Quid Pro Quo sexual harassment occurs when an employee gets on the promotion track or even gets to keep his/her job is based on if the employee submitted to or rejected sexul advances or other types of inappropriate sexual comments. Hostile Environment sexual harassment occurs when a co-worker or supervisor in the workplace makes sexual advances or comments to an employer that, while not affecting promotions or the future of the employees job makes the working environment of the employee offensive and hostile. Theres the two sexual harassment types that happen throughout the workplace.

Business ethics are a set of moral rules that govern how a business operates, how people should be treated within an organization, and how business decisions are made. They are a crucial part of employment and in managing a sustainable business, mainly because of the serious consequences that can result from decisions made with a lack of regard to ethics. Even if you don’t believe that good ethics don’t contribute to profit levels, you should realize those poor ethics have a negative effect on your bottom line in the long-run. Every business in every industry has certain guidelines to which its employees must stick to, and regularly outline such aspects in employee handbooks.
Ethics are the driving force behind good business. Every ethical choice made by a professional can and will have a much different outcome than any unethical choice. Bad ethics can ruin many aspects of a business and as (Gaye-Anderson, 2007) states how quite easily the lives and professional reputation of the employees can even be severally damaged (para. 3). Everything from morale to motivation can be severely affected by poor ethical choices. Customers will take their business elsewhere. Employees will abandon ship. Other, competing businesses reap the benefits of the bad moral choices. Ultimately, the entire business can be brought down by one poor ethical choice.
Ethical behaviour is what all career people should aim to have. Not just the ethical attribute but exceptional behaviour with this regard.this is because in order to build a career, one must be governed by the rules of ethics to safeguard oneself and others. Ethics are essential in the workplace because a tough ethical code provides a non-threatening environment with high employee morale. The corporate social responsibility is important to everyone, therefore it should not be neglected by the employees and the organization. Ethics purely center on personal conduct. It involves personal choices that can make or break a person in the workplace or business. The major importance of having good conduct is to maintain a high level of respect not just for people but for the proffession. Most people who begin their working career have aspirations of excelling at their jobs and reaching the pinnacle of their profession while maintaining a sense of values; however employees often become blind with ambition and put aside their sense of ethics in order to obtain financial security and recognition for their efforts. There are many things that one can gain from having good behavioural ethics in the workplace. It will develop a discipline which will propel the work practices to a higher level and will help set a high standard. It will promote teamwork among the workersand will also buil...
The emphasis of servanthood covers the Bible, and is a building block of the Christian faith. Many words are used to describe the term servanthood, however, not all are accurate, or Biblical, but there are two words that are key to the definition and execution of servanthood. Humility is a necessary trait of servanthood; without it, servanthood becomes another avenue for the ego to encompass, in a search for self-affirmation. The deepest root of humility is buried in the recognition and of our infinite dependence on God. While greatness is seldom mentioned along with servanthood, they go hand in hand. Because, greatness is truly measured in scale with God Himself, it immediately becomes small and miniscule by comparison. This should, in turn, produce the purest humility. With this in mind, I have come to define and recognize servanthood as the communion of the true definitions of humility and greatness, and their relationship to God.
Meeting people diverse backgrounds can be challenging at times. We all have our perceived view of the world, and other cultures are no exception to this rule. Due to internet, mass communication, faster air travel, and a litany of other means of transport the world has become a smaller place. We are now in contact with many different races within their original home lands as opposed to meeting them in America. What is fascinating is while it appears the world has shrunk due to the aforementioned reasons, as a society of people we have not been able to communicate effectively nor fully understand other cultures. This I would like to say is not relegated to visiting other countries, however even here in America this inability to comprehend
