My bravest moment that I could remember is when I saved my mom from being attacked by a pit bull named, Hulk. The incident all took place on summer vacation, in my hometown in Oakland, California. For one second I figured I that I could finally enjoy living the “California dream,” but it was not what I expected at all. On that day I remember that we were hosting a family reunion from my mother’s side. It was a perfect day where all of our family would come together and enjoy each others presence in one whole. The heat simmers on my skin, and the sun shines right through the blinds. My throat pleads for a nice, ice cold water. That’s my cue, it was time to get up. As I walk towards the kitchen, I can hear my aunt’s and uncle laughing loud …show more content…
I took a deep breath and I ran out there and grabbed him from behind. I told my mom to go and she ran off, for a few minutes everyone was like “Okay Jericha, it’s time to come in not! Hurry!” Somehow I just didn’t move my stance was so strong from how I got him positioned, I was afraid he would attack me.“Hey hey, it’s okay Hulk” I said as I was shaking. Now I was more scared than I was being mad at this point I didn’t know what to do. I stood there scared out of my life and I realized it was just me and Hulk alone. Then he somehow started to calm down, while I repetitively said it was okay I was literally having a conversation with him and it was like he was responding …show more content…
I made it my mission to get the door in one piece, I pulled Hulk with me and Nia was waiting for me there screaming for help. I dragged him like it was tug of war between me and him, and I won. I reached the door and I was pulled in the house and he was trapped between the door and his head stuck out like Cujo. After I was bit, I didn 't feel any pain at all until I was rushed to the emergency room. My aunt Terry, cousin Nia, and my mom took to the emergency room, but on the way there I was feeling very light headed. When I looked at my hand, I could see the fat tissue it was very meaty and I saw the blood and some yellow gooey stuff running down my hand and I realized that my wrist was completely swollen, more likely a sprain. I looked at my shirt and it was tore up and I cried out that it was my favorite baseball tee. As soon as the nurse took me in for my stitches, my family was there in the room with me and the doctor was talking once I glanced at the wound everything became silent, my ears started to block every sudden movement, all the talking, and the noises like it was just only me in the
Assignment details: Analyze the components of the hero’s journey. Basically, support the argument that Jaws follows the epic hero cycle. I ran to the edge of my door opened it. “Yea, just let me get dressed Dad!’ I yelled back
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
Stephen Richards once said, “When you do what you fear most, then you can do anything.” Joseph Campbell has written a three stage theory that every hero in a story goes through, a journey if you will. Every journey is different, but it's always structured around his formula, a hero will: separate from his/her known world into a new one, they'll challenge opposing forces or complete a series of tests, and lastly they return to their world again with a gift. Going along with this formula I've gone through my own hero's journey, and succeeded.
From a child, I was raised to believe marriage is forever. You deal with your problems and work past them. However, six years ago I realized even with that belief sometimes you must find the courage deep within you to do some “do something”. I believe in times of adversity the courage to do what needs to be done, however scary or hard, is deep within you.
I slowly wake up, and it must have been hours later. I looked down and my leg was gone. I could feel a searing pain rush through my body. My leg was bandaged up around the cut, but I could still imagine how it looked. Blood was dripping from the bandages. I could not take it anymore. Right there I shut my eyes, and never again were they opened. My family was traumatized at my death.
I was minding my own business sitting on the couch watching TV. I noticed Kai had walked into the room, so I turned my head and called for him to hop up on the couch. I then quickly noticed he was holding
Heroism can show itself in many shapes and forms from ordinary people to heroic and courageous people something to think about is that anyone can show heroism. A lot of people have shown heroism just by doing the right thing such as just helping someone or not acting mean towards others. heroism can show itself in many different forms but sadly some ordinary people don’t get recognized for the heroic acts that they do. Many different people just don’t recognize heroism from ordinary people as they just think of superheroes and supervillains. In reality anyone can achieve heroism as long as they strive for it. While ordinary people can sometimes not be recognized for acts of heroism, these heroes are courageous and can defeat all of the challenges
What is courage? Courage is the spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, and bravery. Courage to me is bravery, heroic acts, and people that put their life in danger. Many people show acts of courage everyday in the world. You might not know if you are showing courage, unless it is a big act.
It was a bright and warm summer morning when I woke from a good night sleep. Nothing prepared me for the dark, gloomy and sad day ahead of me. You see, this was the day that my cousin and childhood best friend passed away in an auto accident.
An act of courage comes when one risks their life while reacting to a certain situation at a particular moment. Courageousness often happens with split-second situations which can be risky and or an act that wouldn’t normally be done. For an act to be courageous it must follow the following criteria:
A true act of heroism comes in many forms. It could be a firefighter running into a burning building to save lives, a police officer who stops a robbery or even our military men and women who fight for our freedoms. For me, another act of heroism is someone who battles cancer. None of us expected the news we were about to hear. My boss was being treated for flu like symptoms for seven weeks and tried two different antibiotics. Because he was on antibiotics and was not any better his primary care physician ordered a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. This is when his life changed.
Some memories are best forgotten, but it takes courage to go through them. Often, I wish to forget the day when I almost lost my parents in a tragic car accident. As my world came crumbling down, I prayed and hoped that the nightmare would soon end. I endlessly fought the sense of helplessness, isolation and fear of the uncertainty. I was 19 and clueless. Nevertheless, I sailed through these dreadful days and welcomed my parents home after six long months. In the months that followed my parent’s return, I juggled between taking care of my parents, graduating college and adjusting to my new job. Almost 10 years later, this dark phase still has a phenomenal impact on me. Perhaps, because this specific experience transformed me into a grateful,
