Essentially, a job analysis is used to gather information about the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics that are required for success in an established position. To put it simply, job analysis entails forming requirements associated with a job. Moreover, the primary cause an organization utilizes job analysis is to ensure the selection procedures they use to choose between job applicants are solid, justifiable, and logical (Gammon, 2017).

Furthermore, a valid selection procedure is one that accurately measure the actual requirements of the job in a fair and reliable way. An effective selection procedure should measure exclusively the knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal characteristics that the job analysis has pinpointed as being essential and necessary to perform important and serious job duties. Essentially, a valid selection procedure should only evaluate the qualifications that are truly required for the job (Gammon, 2017).
