Mind, Body, and Soul “You get back what you put into it.” This statement even rings true for the upkeep I put into my mind, body, and spirit. Yet, for most of us, we do not get this until later in life. What’s even more traitorous is that there are some that never surrender to a healthier way of living. It has taken me years to appreciate just how beneficial nutrition, exercise, and sleep are to my daily quality of living. Now, we will take a glimpse at how this all impacts my life, healthy living verses non-healthy living. To start with, nutrition, exercise, and sleep work together to keep my mind mentally fit. It is amazing how our bodies are so flexible and quick healing when we are kids. Although as we get older we have to put work into maintaining that healthy body. Does what we eat affect our body? Of course the food we consume plays a role in the longevity of our physical body. So much so when we eat healthy and drink plenty of water our skin shows. Others can even tell by how the skin glows. It is the natural fuel that gets me going and ready to workout. Now, that workout is going to keep the muscles in working order and tone. It also helps keeping from developing that saggy skin. Keep in mind that when we work out we are putting all that muscle to work. Like our mind needs rest so does the body. This is where sleep comes in to play. It is when we are sleeping that our body does most of its healing. Let me share with how it was explained to me. When I get in a vigorous workout those muscles are working hard which means they are getting stretched and some tearing occurs. So it is recommended to get a good night’s sleep and take a day off between workouts. If not you are risking injury. When I am not eating the right, my energy, and focus are no good for satisfactory workout. I am sure you can figure out how lack of sleep will play into all of this. If there is not a substantial amount of sleep then my body is not getting the appropriate amount of healing time. Once again, I will be sluggish and …show more content…
Spirit for me is my inner core. It is what helps me to connect to others and to nature. Let me illustrate on what eating healthy does for me. When I am consuming home grown or organics into my diet, I can feel the difference it makes on me as a whole. Now when I eat junk food or drink high sugar drinks I can feel how it slows me down in every aspect. This is usually when I start feeling drained emotionally, mentally, and physically. Now if I am feeling drained do you think I am going to want to go to the gym? Well, if I do then it is because I am pushing myself to go. When I am eating good foods and I go to the gym it is helping me clear all those stressors of the day or the week. So exercise gives me this spiritual freedom of life’s demands. Moving on to sleep and how it affects my spirit. A lot of times I will go to sleep listening to a meditation. This helps with falling asleep and it puts me in a deep relaxing sleep. If I am rested it helps me with being a little being a little happier. I live more in a positive view. It also helps keep me open-minded to what others have to offer in suggestion. I would like to tell you this is what would help with your spirituality within but this is something more of a personal

Everything in the body can be related to cognizance, and in turn, vitalism. For example, every organ in the body contains vital force as part of the body encompassed by vitalism. This vital force can be seen in the fact that all organs possess a frequency at which they function (for example: echocardiograms in the heart). High organ function relies on sleep, nutrition, exercise, emotional state, mental wellness, and other factors for optimal production. People with high organ function have increased over all health. This means that the brain has less requirements to restore and so the body has increased disease resistance. There is homeostasis or balance in the body, and vitalism is achieved. The link between mental, emotional, and physical is evident by the interconnection in these factors and the body’s function, leading to vitalism.
Health shapes our life, if you practice bad health practices, chances are you’re often sick, overweight, disease, or other medical issue. There are three main points of a person’s health, not just their physical health. The three parts are; social, mental/emotional, and of course physical. Setting health goals depends on age, body, and health of a person. I am 14 years old, and I am 5 feet tall, around 100 pounds. I’m generally the correct size for someone of my age. Though, it’s hard to achieve perfect health.
When talking about health, if people is able to visualize what is good (healthy) and what is bad for health, they will choose the option that does not harm them.
Health promotion is the process of improving health status of a person and prevention of disease by enabling the person to take control of their health. As Francis Bacon once said, “A healthy body is a guest chamber for the soul; a sick body is a prison” (Quote World). In his quote, Bacon explains how people should relieve their stress in order to live a healthy life. By the use of this quote, it is used to represent how people should not be obsessed with their health habits. Henceforth, should people be captivated with their health habits? In Stephen Leacock’s essay, “How to Live to be 200”, Leacock’s arguments are compelling because he develops a sarcastic tone by making satirical statements, and uses rhetorical devices, allowing readers to draw personal connections.
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
When thinking of my overall health, a few aspects stand out that I think I could definitely improve on. When I think my current personal wellness I think it is fairly decent. There are definitely people out there far worse than myself. It could be better because there is always room for improvement. I’m a big fan of personal growth. To me if a person decides to stop growing or wanting to better themselves either mentally, physically or emotiontally. Then whats the real purpose for living? I am a fairly active person. I love to hike, stay fit and eat healthy. Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t hard for me which I think definitely contributes to a wellness.

In western medicine, standard treatment is given with drugs or surgery according to symptoms or diseases or injuries where a doctor or a physician determines the ways of treatment and the patient has to follow the recommendations. Whereas, holistic health is a complete opposite way to treat the illness where patients cooperate in their illnesses, take the responsibility of their treatments, make their own decision for own level of well-being and thoroughly participate in their health care plan.
