Distilled water is popular and has been around for thousands of years. Distilled water is a form of purified water whether by the ways of the past or the technology of the present. This purified water is what we, as humans, mainly drink. "Water is a clear, odorless, tasteless liquid which is essential for most animal and plant life and is an excellent solvent for many substances" (National Center for Biotechnology Information, n.d.). Water is the most common and useful substance in the world.

In small amounts, water appears colorless and clear but is, in fact, blue. For example, when humans drink water from a cup, it appears clear, but the ocean water is blue. Water covers around 70% of the earth's surface and makes up about 60% of the human body. The amount of water in the human body depends on the age of the person. Babies have around 78% water, one-year-olds have around 65% water, adult males have around 60% water, and adult females have around 55% water (ESGS Water Science School, 2016). The water in our bodies has many different, important functions. The water in the human body is “a vital nutrient to the life of every cell, acts first as a building material, regulates our internal body temperature by sweating and respiration, transports and metabolizes the carbohydrates and proteins that our bodies use as food into the bloodstream, assists in flushing waste mainly through urination, acts as a shock absorber for brain; spinal cord; and fetus, forms saliva, and lubricates joints” (ESGS Water Science School,2016). Water in our bodies is important to our lives.
Mineral Water Mineral water appears as a carbonated water containing minerals. Mineral water is created when water comes out of the ground, passes through several layers of rocks, and contains minerals from these rocks. Some of the harmful ingredients are sodium, nitrates, aluminum, and sulfates (Mazlan, 2017). Excess sodium can cause high blood pressure, nitrates can harm babies and pregnant women, and excess sulfates can act as a laxative instead of detoxifying the liver, assisting in digestion, improving skin health, and reducing muscle cramps (Mazlan, 2017). The health benefits of mineral water are its detoxifying properties, calorie-free, a source of calcium, lowers cholesterol, hydrates more effectively, prevents cognitive decline with Alzheimer's, used for thermal baths or spas, has good minerals, helps improve blood regeneration, and boosts athletic performance (Mazlan, 2017).
