As long as there is human pride, there will be discrimination. Discrimination affects millions of people all over the U.S. Seeing as society has created many ways in which to discriminate, people should help create solutions and help prevent it from happening ever again. This research will explore the causes, effects, and solutions to racial discrimination against African Americans.

Although there are many causes of discrimination, there are only a few main ones that are going to be discussed. One cause could be someone of a different race, in this case the white race, thinking that they are superior to others. Not only do African Americans have to put up with discrimination, but they also have to feel something toward it. Some of these feelings might include: exclusion, depression, or rejection. These feelings directed towards you by others with no reason can cause extreme worry to an individual (“Discrimination and Prejudice”). Because discrimination has been around for years, there are many effects such as the most important cause: war. In middle school, we are taught the different types of wars there were and what happened in all of them. What is only briefly talked about though, is the reasons that the war happened in the first place. Many of the wars in history are based on topics that have to do with African Americans. This proves that it has been around for centuries and nothing has been done about it. When most people think about discrimination against black people, the idea that it only hurts them comes to mind. However this is wrong, when a white person continually degrades and disrespects a black person, it is considered okay in their minds. When someone repeatedly discriminates against someone else, it desensitizes them to what they are actually doing and how wrong it is. In addition to this, discrimination can also deny opportunities. One opportunity that is deprived from African Americans, are jobs. Many people believe that when a company is hiring someone, the applications should not include racial background because of the possibility
