Coke or Coca-Cola is a beverage usually sold in restaurants, convenient stores and vending machines all throughout the world. Many people consume this beverage as if it was water, not knowing the effects it does to their body. According to Harvard School of Public Health Nutrition Source, millions of Americans choose soft drinks as their beverage of choice, but drinks such as soft drinks increase type 2 diabetes risk, heart disease and other chronic conditions. Nutritionists say that they do not agree with added sugar mainly because they cause weight gain, cavities and that it only brings empty calories or calories that do not contain any fiber, vitamins and other nutrients. In the article, American Health Association says that women’s sugar consumption should be less than 100 calories (6 teaspoons) a day and men 150 calories (9 teaspoons).
