0 Emphasizing on the advantage of the identified nursing theory in enhancing patient outcomes Early rehabilitation in the ward is safe and associated with several benefits, including improvements in muscle strength, functional mobility and quality of life. An early rehabilitation program may reduce hospital costs and hospital length of stay, and decreased hospital re admissions. The importance of self-care concept is related to human's need for maintaining and promoting health and recovery, lack of health care services, inadequate access to health services for the whole community, and increased expenditure of health care services.(Asadi Noghabi AA, Zandi M, Mehran A, Alavian SM, Dehkordi AH.,2010)).Self-care activities alleviate symptoms and …show more content…

It has utility for professional nursing in the areas of nursing practice, nursing education and administration. The self-care approach is contemporary with the concepts of health promotion and health maintenance.Additional patient can get benefit from home visit by occupational therapies, physiotherapy and doctors and nurses. The home usually can be modified so that narrow doorways, stairs and bathtubs did not interfere with ability to manage personal needs. Many families cannot afford to pay for extensive alterations or move to more convenient living quarters.Safety is an important considerations when making adaptions to a home. Many areas of the home can be made safer through the removal of throw rugs and furniture that may cause an accident as move around the house or apartment.Further more assistant devices such as grab bars can assist patient in using the toilet ,tub or shower and can be installed at strategic spots in the bath room.A raised toilet seat and tub bench maybe helpful.A hand held shower can be attached to the bath or shower faucet so a shower may be taken while seated.Plastic strips that adhere to the bottom of the tub or shower help guard against falls.Long handled brushes, washing mitts with pockets
Fifty percent of stroke survivors will experience some residual impairment (physical and cognitive), which is devastating to the individual and their families (Rudd et al, 2002). It is therefore vital for patients and resources that maximum functional recovery is achieved as fast as possible. The physiotherapist has a key role to play in the management of stroke patients, through assessment, prevention strategies, acute management and recovery. This essay aims to critically discuss physiotherapeutic management and examine how it has and may be influenced by a number of factors (e.g. type of organized system for the delivery of post stroke care, setting of therapy, evidence based practice from which National Guidelines are produced etc). The first stage is to outline stroke pathology, of which forms the basis of appropriate management.
The WHO ICF model is being used to provide a common framework to deliver and study the efficacy of rehabilitation outcomes across rehabilitation settings. The WHO ICF model can be used to facilitate for management of professional decision-making, communication, and collaborative efforts among nursing and other interdisciplinary team members and professional colleagues. The WHO ICF model as a framework for management of documentation relating to patient care and determining payment for services required. The WHO ICF is valuable in rehabilitation, research and education. It assists professionals to look beyond their own areas of practice, communicate across disciplines, and think from a functioning perspective rather than the perspective of a health condition of the

In the history of nursing we have come a long way and this is because of the nurses before us. They wanted to learn, lead, teach and make a difference in the care of patients. There are 4 main nurse theorists in the second part of our text book. I am going show how they are alike and different from one another. What makes each one of them unique and the differences they played in the development of each nursing philosophy.
The literature review consists of the process, and the product. It identifies the research problem, purpose, and questions which leads to the identification the research approach and design. Literature review identifies the gap in a study. Four types of literature are: Literature reviews, meta-analyses, research articles, and theory pieces. (Petty, R., & Guthrie, J., 2000). A good literature review produces a strong foundation to advancing knowledge. Literature is the foundation for theory, and is used to find areas where research is needed. It provides a strong basis for the research topic, selection of research methodology, and prove that the proposed research adds something new to the existing knowledge. Literature review provides a solid
Each individual gets to a point in life whereby they assess their internal qualities, people reflect their profession aspirations and attempt to see which careers will make them happy in their lives. It is also important for a person to consider whether they have the qualities needed for a particular profession and also consider the available resources that will help him or her reach their set goals (Chafey, Rhea, Shannon, & Spencer, (1998). Every human being has weaknesses and strengths in their personal or professional aspirations. Having strength means that someone has the physical and mental power to perform things in a successful manner. On the other hand, weaknesses are the drawbacks, the inadequate lack of strength or power to accomplish important goals in life, and every human has some potential of being a leader in some way (American Association of Critical Care Nurses (2006). This paper will discuss the outcome results inventory on the nurse as a manager, it illustrates personal strength and weaknesses in relation to personal life and professional aspirations. The paper will also discuss planning for career, disciplines in personal expedition, practice
To make good nursing decisions, nurses require an internal roadmap with knowledge of nursing theories. Nursing theories, models, and frameworks play a significant role in nursing, and they are created to focus on meeting the client’s needs for nursing care. According to McEwen and Wills (2014), conceptual models and theories could create mechanisms, guide nurses to communicate better, and provide a “systematic means of collecting data to describe, explain, and predict” about nursing and its practice (p. 25). Most of the theories have some common concepts; others may differ from one theory to other. This paper will evaluate two nursing theorists’ main theories include Sister Callista Roy’s
The conceptual model guiding this paper is A Middle-Range Theory of Self-Care of Chronic Illness. The theory defines self-care as a process of maintaining health using health promoting practices and management of illness. It emphasizes that self-care should be performed in both healthy and ill states. In addition, the theory further emphasizes that it is imperative for every individual to engage in some level of self-care from day to day by making informed food choices and rational healthy living styles. An individual in stable condition can maintain health without the need of moving into illness care. However, after an ill and illness management

Physiotherapy is the study of the movement and function of the human anatomy and the relationship between the persons’ health and wellbeing (Dhrs.uct.ac.za, 2015). A physiotherapist’s speciality is treating “individuals across the life-span who have illness, injury or disability affecting the neuro-musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, vascular, and neurological systems” (Ontario Physiotherapy Association, 2015:3). A physiotherapist’s main goal is for their patient to receive the highest level of independence by educating patients how to “prevent reoccurring injuries” that disrupt their daily routine (Ontario Physiotherapy Association, 2015:3). Physiotherapists would deal with “long term ailments” (Zweigenthal et al., 2009:235) that cannot simply be treated with the dosage of medication but with the dedication from both the physiotherapist and patient in the appointed interactive physical sessions, a treatment plan can be formulated to guarantee the most efficient road to
BATHROOM ERGONOMICS AAMANI DADI TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY,COLLEGE STATION BATHROOM ERGONOMICS Introduction Bathrooms are complex areas which involve many human factors considerations in the design. A residential bathroom generally consists of the following: • Bathtub • Wash Basin • Toilet • Shower • Storage • Lights • Flooring and surfaces • Other Elements Various ergonomic considerations are involved in the design of the above mentioned components of the bathroom. In this paper, the interaction of the people with the components of the bathroom and the various design components, involving ergonomic considerations in wash basin, toilet, shower, storage, lights, flooring and surfaces along with other important miscellaneous elements are discussed.
Nursing theories are the support of nursing practice today. They are significant to nursing practice, education and scientific research because they help to determine, what is already known, and what additional knowledge and skills are needed. Nurses are usually first exposed to nursing theories during nursing education and further exposure comes from hands on training. The gained knowledge, about nursing theories, through education and training enhances better outcomes for patients and caregivers, allows application of professional boundaries, and assists in decision making. In this paper I will attempt to analyze, in general, the importance of nursing theory to the nursing profession; discuss middle-range theory, furthermore Benner’s model of skill acquisition, and how this theory addresses nursing’s metaparadigm; and how this theory views nursing education.

Research provided evidence of problem areas where healthcare crucially needs improvement within the homes. These areas include; fall prevention, unplanned hospital admissions, nurse work environment, and quality of life. Falls among the elderly is very common due to balance problems, weakness, and absence of handrails in the home. Apart from falls, infections, pressure ulcers, and respiratory conditions can contribute to hospital admissions for some clients. If the quality of care that clients receive is not to its highest standard then the care need to be assessed.
