A good literature review produces a strong foundation to advancing knowledge. Literature is the foundation for theory, and is used to find areas where research is needed. The selected articles were picked on the basis that they directly focused on the effectiveness of behavior management therapy in managing disruptive/challenging behaviors in older adults with the diagnosis of Dementia with behavior disturbance admitted to the nursing homes. The article “Dementia carer education and patient behavior disturbance. International journal of geriatric psychiatry conducted” by Coen et al. (1999) is on the topic of dementia carer. The objective was to evaluate the impact of dementia Carer Education Program on carer quality of life, wellbeing, and burden. The study was a single group before-and after the intervention study. Annotated bibliographies and abstracts also provide information about different sources and this can be helpful for evaluating sources when doing a literature review. “An annotated bibliography includes a summary or evaluation of each of the sources” and when writing one it can help to establish if the sources used are relevant and apply to the research topic that is being investigated. In the history of nursing we have come a long way and this is because of the nurses before us. They wanted to learn, lead, teach and make a difference in the care of patients. There are 4 main nurse theorists in the second part of our text book. I am going show how they are alike and different from one another. What makes each one of them unique and the differences they played in the development of each nursing philosophy.
In 2005 Fawcett stated “the metaparadigm of professional nursing incorporates four concepts: human beings, environment, health, and nursing” (as sited in Kearney, 2012, p. 4). This paper discusses my philosophy of nursing by stating my own personal definitions, values, and assumptions regarding each of the above mentioned concepts. My paper concludes with an exemplar from my own nursing practice and how I integrated my nursing philosophy into that particular clinical situation.
