There are many different kinds of addictions like addiction to chips, soda, alcohol, drugs, etc. My addictions is soda, I drink soda once or twice a day. This is something I cannot help but to crave it when I eat lunch or dinner. Soda is very bad for the body, it has a lot of sugar. What are the solutions for this? Well first of all I have to realize the things that happen when you crack open a can, I have to drink more water than soda, and learn methods to do so the soda will not harm my teeth as much. In the video “what happens to your body when you drink a can of coke,” it say that in the first 10 minutes you consume this 10 teaspoons of sugar will immediately hit your system. We don’t vomit it as soon as we drink it because of the phosphoric acid (it allows you to keep it down). 20 minutes into this blood sugar happens and causes the insulin to burst and out liver turns the sugar into fat. 40 minutes your pupils dilate and blood pressure rises and more sugar into your bloodstream. Wisconsin Dental Association states that “Sugar in soda combines with bacteria in your mouth to form acid, which attacks the teeth. Diet or “sugar-free” soda contains its own acid, which also can damage teeth. Each attack lasts about 20 minutes and starts over with every sip of soda you take” (WDA). Soda causes tooth decay too, who wants tooth decay I sure do not. Brushing your teeth after you eat and drink soda (wait an hour) can help you prevent tooth decay as well. Coke continuously out-stands Pepsi, even though they share a very similar taste and colour, however Coke should not be the drink that receives all the love and attention for what it offers. Despite their similar soda colour, the drinks actually contain some different ingredients, which produce a different taste, and affect the body differently. In the past couple years people all around the nation, whether it's in New York City or an 8th Grade classroom in Michigan, people have been pressed with the question, whether the New York Soda Ban, is a good thing, improving health, or if there is a larger issue. Is this decision showing evidence of the Government interfering with our basic civil liberties?
There are plenty of sugary soft drinks in the market today. Sugary soft drinks are included as drinks defined by the US Department of Agriculture and the US Department of Health and Human Services in their Dietary Guidelines for Americans as “sugar-sweetened beverages” that contain different types of sugars that contribute calories. Examples of these are lemonade, sports drinks, energy drinks, carbonated sodas and sweetened teas and coffees (Marrow,2011).
It is sad. People from all races and backgrounds are obese. In a recent survey done at Henry Ford College, 43 percent of students were overweight. Whether it is because they do not follow a healthy diet or they inherited it from their parents. Being overweight is correlated with lacking exercise or physical activity and not watching what is on the plate. Obesity can cause many illnesses, including diabetes, which is very common. As the debate whether soda tax should take effect arises, critics say that the tax will help those with obesity-related illnesses. What about exercising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle? These two factors cannot be forgotten knowing they are the most important. Americans have consumed 12 percent of soda and become less active since 1970. A soda tax aims to stop consumers from buying soda to help those who are obese. This will not be effective. Therefore a soda tax will not be good public policy.

I will attempt to compare these to essays to uncover the difference between the scientific essay and the nonscientific essay. As I already stated, the title usually gives away what the essay will be about in the scientific essay, while the nonscientific essay has a title which merely states a feeling or an opinion.
Researchers have found many risk factors for drinking among teens and young adults. Adolescents long to have fun, and enjoy their youth years as much as they can. Through various observations and assumptions, there have been conversations on whether or not overconsumption of food is an addiction. However, many have come to the conclusion that food is an addiction if it is overconsume excessively than it is necessary for an individual’s diet. Nevertheless, food addiction can create health issues that can affect an individual’s body. Even though, many individual may have such knowledge of overconsumption of food; however, many may choose to ignore the consequences that comes with food addiction. When people hear the word addiction, most people picture an alcoholic that spends hours a night at the bar, or meth addict that sleeps in the streets and prostitutes herself out to obtain money for another hit, but what various people refuse to realize is that addiction has become an epidemic in the United States.
