Statement Of Purpose In this ever-changing world of Engineering and Technology, where each new day sees a rush of new concepts and applications, the person who has an insatiable thirst for knowledge and passion for learning things emerges as the winner.Having worked in an environment where customer’s problems are identified and converted into technology solutions, I would like to pursue my masters in Computer Science, where I could enhance my technical skills further and get an insight into core concepts of computers. I introduce myself as an undergraduate student specialized in Information Technology at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering. The passion I have for the computer science culminated in my undergraduate studies, when I was first introduced to programming, the fact that it was possible to express my ideas to a machine and program it to act the way I wanted it to, intrigued me.This interest I carried through with me made me take initiative to act as the team leader for the two Academic Projects. Thus I got a chance to put all my theoretical knowledge into practice, especially the programming skill which was my favorite. Myproficiency in programming languages C, C++, JAVA is praiseworthy. Apart from programming, Computer Networks was the area which had interested me and fortunately in my under graduation, I could unleash that dream as I completed Cisco certification, Cisco Certified Network Association, which is one of the proud moments for me. I got a chance to work on a paper titled “Counter Terrorism Using Data Mining”, which uses data mining techniques such as association techniques and clustering techniques in order to find out patterns in data. Apart from my regular project work, I was made a part of the Rapid Response Team by my manager. This is an exciting assignment, as I have to work across all other projects and teams, know the technical and business backgrounds and solve any critical issues if arising. My corporate journey with Datapro Computers Private Ltd. has made me understand the intricacies of technology better, but still there is much more to learn.I believe the master’s degree at Arizona State University Master Of Science in Computer Science is tailored for a graduate like me,seeking to augment one’s analytical and technical skills with a deeper understanding of the subject.Looking at the road ahead, I affirm that I possess the intellectual ability and the perseverance to set out on an exhilarating and strenuous path of graduate study at your university.

The Computer Science department was established in 1973 as a graduate department offering masters and doctoral degrees. An undergraduate program was initiated in 1989. We currently have 15 faculty members, 3 lecturers, 5 technical support staff, and 4 research programmers affiliated with specific funding. The graduate program contains 61 MS students, 22 PhD candidates: the undergraduate program has 205 bachelors students and 400+ pre-majors.

The computing industry as a whole becomes more prosperous, exciting and attractive as an employment prospect each day. It spans a wide range of modern applications, as does my interest in the subject. I see computing science as a gateway into new realms of computing, where the highly challenging and demanding work may reap rewards of an equivalent level.
Computer Science is a vast research field that is continuously evolving. It is acknowledged that scientific research depends on grants. This type of funding often comes from an external source. All areas of research; whether it be medical, financial, or meteorological use trend analysis to study the relationships on publication papers and the development of “x” field. Furthermore, the authors of this article propose that scientific research in the field of Computer Science is greatly influenced by funding opportunities. Apirak Hoonlor, Boleslaw K. Szymanski, and Mohammed J. Zaki wrote an article entitled “Trends in Computer Science Research” which appeared in the article Communications of the ACM. The authors back up their arguments with three key points of observation: new keywords that appear in grants result in new publications using those same keywords, Computer Science is continuing to go through changes, and lastly scientists are required to switch their focus of study roughly every 10 years due to evolving technology. This article examines the evolution of trends in Computer Science research and analyzes how funding correlates to publication topics.
“Constant efforts, dedication, devotion and determination are the key to success” This principle I have followed in my career. Setting goals and striving hard to accomplish them has always been my strength in professional as well as personal life. I have always been amazed by computers, code –programs and was keen to understand the underlying meaning, gimmick, structure and pattern of how programs actually work. Learning about simple Foxpro programs, excel sheet formulae, C programs at an early age heightened my interest in computer programs. This childhood interest urged me to do a diploma in information technology and later bachelor’s degree in the same area. Having completed six years course in Information Technology, and two years of experience in IT. I stand by the principal “Stay Hungry” and this has helped me in achieving my goals. Standing by this I would like to explore ahead and pursue MS in MIS. I would like emerge to put to use this knowledge to pursue MS program in MIS.
My ultimate goal in my career is to make a commendable contribution to the computing world either by starting an innovative venture or doing research which would change the dimensions of future computing and the way we perceive the computers. Now I have determined that a dedicated higher study on Computer Science will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge & experience on the field and encourage in achieving my career goal.
