Statement of Purpose
Before letting know my intentions to pursue a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, I would like to throw some light on my childhood and the things that triggered me to choose Computer Science as my career. I was astonished when my science teacher told me about the Super Computers and their powerful usage in Space Administration as I was curious in knowing how typical tasks like launching a satellite were accomplished such easily. Throughout my childhood I have been fascinated by computers and computer games, but it was during this time that my interest in computers had truly taken a leap and when I first seriously started considering computer science as my career.
My interest towards Mathematics and Physics made me choose MPC (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry) as major in 11th and 12th grades. With diligent preparation and concentration, I secured 96.8% in my 12th grade.
I achieved a good rank in state level entrance exam which is EAMCET in the year 2009 where I stood in the top 3% among 0.25 million applicants and secured a seat in Department of Computer Science in a prestigious college, Velagapudi Ramakrishna Siddhartha Engineering College (VSREC) which is the first established private Engineering College (Autonomous) in the entire Andhra Pradesh, affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. My undergraduate coursework made me well versed with a broad knowledge base and helped me in gaining firm fundamentals in Computer Science.

I bring along a strong grasp of fundamentals in Computers, an aptitude for teaching and teamwork, a zest for challenges and an enthusiastic desire to learn all I can. I would like to take with me, in addition to knowledge of Computer Networks, a network of strong and lasting relationships with my teachers and fellow-students. The excellent projects going on in your research department in the field of Computer Networks and Computer Security along with eminent faculty make your school the ideal choice for my higher graduate learning. I hope that my background and qualifications are found suitable for an MS in Computer Science at West Virginia University.

As a young child, I always had an interest in computers and how they work. As a kindergartener, my parents gave me their old computer; a large creamed colored monstrosity that was considered old even for its time. Despite this, I was amazed by the device and how it worked. This interest continued with me as I grew older and went through school. Throughout middle school, I learned more about computers and took every chance I could taking computer classes. In high school, I took part in my first computer science class and learn the basics of coding. Although this class was difficult I learned the basics of computer science and developed a love for computer science and coding. Throughout high school, I would take a computer science class every year and develop my coding skills. I hope that here I will be able to continue to work towards my degree and develop my skills as I work towards making a career out of computer science.
If the nineteenth century was an era of the Industrial revolution in Europe, I would say that computers and Information Technology have dominated since the twentieth century. The world today is a void without computers, be it healthcare, commerce or any other field, the industry won’t thrive without Information Technology and Computer Science. This ever-growing field of technology has aroused interest in me since my childhood. After my twelfth grade, the inherent ardor I held for Computer Science motivated me to do a bachelors degree in Information Technology. Programming and Math, a paragon of logic and reasoning, have always been my favorite subjects since childhood.
I was the Silver Medalist in RGPV university specific in Electronics and Instrumentation Branch and completed my under graduation Engineering with honors (80%). I was also the member of student council in college for two consecutive years and represented class as Class Representative. This helped me owing to my excellence in communication skills and managing events organized at college level.
Computer Science is one the fastest growing industries in America and worldwide. Employment in all computer science occupations is expected to increase by 22% through 2020. That projected increase is appealing to a large portion of current and future college students. The competition of finding a job in the future market is going to grow ever more difficult along side the employment increase. Getting the correct skills from a Computer Science degree is key to separating yourself from the completion.
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. The power of research and delivering it for the growth of Society is what makes me interested in the technology side of science. I choose to major Computer science Engineering with an intense urge to delve into this challenging field. During my under graduation program I learned the various fundamentals of Computer science Engineering which together with practical course works reinforced my interest.
In conclusion, I believe that I have the required zeal to progress my knowledge further at the University of Southern California. My decision to focus on Cybersecurity over the years, has equipped me with a unique set of strengths that I can put to use in the program. Being an International student, I hope to contribute to the already existing multiethnic and multiracial society at your esteemed institution. After I earn my master's degree, I intend to start work on my Ph.D. in Computer Science. I see Ph. D as a professional stepping stone that would help me work in the area of research and development for the Government of India. It is in R & D that I believe, I can make the greatest contribution, utilizing my theoretical background and creativity as a scientist.
I took up Computer Science and Engineering as my discipline in Bhoj Reddy Engineering College for Women affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the premier institutes in India. My undergraduate education has been a great learning and enriching process for me. It exposed me to all the core areas of Computer Science like operating systems, database management systems, networks and network security, data structures, algorithms and software engineering. These courses have given me a good foundation in the core concepts. My interest lies in Database Management, Programming Languages, Theory of Computation, and Software Engineering. I am fully acquainted with the fast growing subjects like Object Oriented Programming, Analysis and Design. On the other hand, the intensive laboratory classes exposed me to a fascinating world of experimentation. It was here that I discovered the qualities of perseverance and diligence in myself. I feel that these courses have done a lot to prepare me for my future studies and research work.
I am very thankful for providing me with this opportunity and it is with sincere sense of gratification that I pen down my brief statement of purpose. Striving for betterment and improvement has been my motto in all aspects of life, and the same applies even to my professional and academic career. Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution, and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate studies in Information Technology. While reasoning my intentions to pursue MS in Computer Science at your esteemed university, I would like to throw some light on my career till now.
Post my under graduation with an Engineering degree in Information Technology from Nagpur University, I realize that I needed to gain practical working experience as a Network Engineer to gain first-hand knowledge of what the life of a Network/System Engineer entails. At my job, I especially had the opportunity to participate in cutting-edge projects and discuss ideas with senior engineers and founder of the firm. I soon realized that, although I enjoy handling the complex situations and their upcoming results, I was unsatisfied with carrying out only routine procedures under the direction of others. I wanted to be part of a team that directs the course of the project. My senior colleagues have encouraged my ambition and I feel this is the right time for pursuing my higher studies.
My ultimate goal in my career is to make a commendable contribution to the computing world either by starting an innovative venture or doing research which would change the dimensions of future computing and the way we perceive the computers. Now I have determined that a dedicated higher study on Computer Science will enable me to aggregate all my previous knowledge & experience on the field and encourage in achieving my career goal. I am looking at Graduate studies to provide me with the required expertise to carry out higher studies.
Most people do not know what job they will end up with. In fact, only 30% of people actually land their GLAMOROUS dream jobs. Although I’m not sure what job I’ll end up having in the UNPREDICTABLE future, I PLAN to MAKE sure I end up in the EXTRAORDINARY computer field. I LEARNED most of my EXQUISITE knowledge from INDEPENDENT self-teaching and STIMULATING tutorials. I received HUMONGOUS amounts of motivation from my WONDERFUL family who constantly CONSULTED me to CONSIDER COMMANDEERING a job in this vast field.
When I was in middle school, I had totally no idea of what Computer Science is, but I was pretty proficient in using computers at that age. The only thing that I knew about Computer Science is that one of my aunts is in that field and that’s all, nor of my parents are in that major. Not until in High School that I got the sense of what programming is like. I was taught basic simple codings and I really enjoyed it and thought that the class was actually quite fun. But the class didn’t give me any sense of the important real-world applications of Computer Science. Not until recently as I am in the Computer Science major, I started to really have the real idea and to gain real passion for the field. Computer Science is not all about programming.
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Computers in technological development demand more efficient networking. In a very short period it has changed the way we have looked at things since centuries. It is one industry that is going to shape our future for centuries to come Coming from a background of Electronics and Communication Engineering, I have developed an interest to probe into the area of Networking and Computer Networks. Hence I wish to do Masters in Computer Science (CS) as my major.
“The explosive impact of computers and information technology on our everyday lives has generated a need to design and develop new computer software systems and to incorporate new technologies in a rapidly growing range of applications.” Computer engineering is highly recommended for those individuals who have a high capacity for facing multiple challenges, are acceptable of change and flexibility, and who work extremely well under pressure.
Computers and Technology have fascinated me right from my childhood and I have always had it in my mind to choose Information Technology for my engineering. As the years passed my eagerness grew and so did my thirst to attain higher education and now is the perfect time for me to ignite the spark in me. This has given me the courage to analyze the fact that I have a herculean task ahead in order to comprehend an extensive proportion of subject and enjoy it while assimilating the problems.
