Most people do not know what job they will end up with. In fact, only 30% of people actually land their GLAMOROUS dream jobs. Although I’m not sure what job I’ll end up having in the UNPREDICTABLE future, I PLAN to MAKE sure I end up in the EXTRAORDINARY computer field. I LEARNED most of my EXQUISITE knowledge from INDEPENDENT self-teaching and STIMULATING tutorials. I received HUMONGOUS amounts of motivation from my WONDERFUL family who constantly CONSULTED me to CONSIDER COMMANDEERING a job in this vast field. Ever since I was a SIMPLE child, I’ve always enjoyed technology. During my entire school-life, I SCHEDULED to TAKE as many DIVERSE computer classes as I could. In middle school, I took up the only DRAB computer class that was available which was typing. At the time, however, I did not PRESENT anything wrong with it. I was ENCHANTED with the thought of WORKING with computers for an hour. It was my DIFFERENT but PERPLEXING class and was my favorite. As I ADVANCED through high school, I took many more computer classes. I took 3 years of business and technology and 2 years of accounting. Over the course of my entire high school life, I LEARNED the aspects of business as well as accounting along with EXPANDING my knowledge with computers. During my childhood, I began to FIX technical problems within the family. If anything ever went wrong, I was always called onto the scene and CHARGED with the task of FIXING the problem. The first piece of technology that was introduced to me was the amazing, ground-breaking GameBoy created by Nintendo. My parents believed that my obsession with video games in my juvenile years would be the cause of my downfall when I would become an adult with no job, no money, and still lived with my parents. I admit that I did have an addiction in the beginning, but over the years it moderated as I became more attracted to what was actually done to develop the devices and programs that once ensnared me. Though being exposed to technologies like computers from an early age may have given us the ability to do things more efficiently, technology has also made us less dependent on ourselves. As I opened the front door of the IBM Building, my next chapter in life began. My eyes widen as I observed my teacher writing code on the smartboard. Uneasiness and fear rushed down my spine. I was the only person among fourteen girls without prior knowledge of coding. I spent eight hours in a confined room learning how to code. My computer science teacher appointed assignments in HTML and Python.
I have always been interested and intrigued by computers, ever since using a BBC when I was very young. Right now I have a fairly accurate idea concerning what I want to do with my life. My love for computers has taken me a long way and I have a strong feeling that I will continue in the field of computer science. Yet, I am also aware that I may change my mind several times before I begin a career. College will introduce me to new and various things, and I will develop new interests from this exposure. The world of technology is changing rapidly and computers seem like the best way to go. For so many years I’ve asked myself the question, “what are you going to do with your life?” For a period of time I struggled with this question. Today, I sit staring at my computer, confronting myself, asking my subconscious “what do I want to do for the rest of my life?” Have I finally found the answer I 've been looking for, or am I under the false assumption that this is the right path for me. At the dawn of the information age, to be young, as Wordsworth said in another context, is very heaven. Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution, and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate study in Electronics and Communications engineering.
When I was in middle school, I had totally no idea of what Computer Science is, but I was pretty proficient in using computers at that age. The only thing that I knew about Computer Science is that one of my aunts is in that field and that’s all, nor of my parents are in that major. Not until in High School that I got the sense of what programming is like. I was taught basic simple codings and I really enjoyed it and thought that the class was actually quite fun. But the class didn’t give me any sense of the important real-world applications of Computer Science. Not until recently as I am in the Computer Science major, I started to really have the real idea and to gain real passion for the field. Computer Science is not all about programming.
Vision Statement: My vision is to ensure that every student gains the acceptable knowledge to understand and learn the concepts of what education has to offer. Within this context I perceive integrating technology as a tool that will expand learning abilities. Therefore, my vision is to provide instructional technology skills into the curriculum. As a follower of the 21st Century Framework I will set into the standards of education the 21st Century themes, the mastery of core subjects, learning and innovation skills, information media and technology skills along with life and career skills to ensure that every student masters these skills. Stimulating an academic environment that is dedicated to support and enhance student’s commitment to today’s digital world will promote success.
