Over the course of my life in the real world and the academic classroom, language has played a significant role. Attending Spanish classes throughout high school into my first semester at Quinnipiac University has enabled me to expand and develop my communication and reasoning skills in the Spanish language. With this genuine self-reflection, I will discuss my capabilities and experiences regarding language learning, in this Spanish language course.

My capability for interpersonal communication meets the necessary standards and skills for a novice of the Spanish language. I can express and exchange basic emotions and ideas between others and myself. My novice skill set and language learning abilities reflect a disparity in various areas of strengths and weaknesses. For presentational speaking, I position myself as a mid-tier novice. First off, gaining diversity awareness and sensitivity has played a role in the Spanish and Criminal Justice courses I have taken. I learned in the Spanish course that among the various Spanish-speaking counties who share the language, they all have a disparity regarding customs and ideas in the communities. For example, greetings among types of individuals or ways of life differ from country to country. Gaining this awareness helps me to acknowledge that Spanish speaking countries hold different norms than others. The Spanish course and skill of diversity awareness and sensitivity connect to my Criminal Justice class. I have expanded my perception of how communities and individuals hold similarities and differences in their views. Just like Spanish-speaking counties, people in the United States have different ways of living. In conclusion, I have a greater understanding of how to be more open and respectful of all types of
