On this place we call earth there is this thing we call love. Love has evolved into three forms. These forms consist of patriarchal love, soulmate love, and heroic love. However, heroic love is the focus of attention for right now. Heroic love is somewhat the basic system of dating after the patriarchal period. Furthermore, it is somewhat the basic system of dating today. Within the system of heroic love, the male must do whatever it takes to win the heart of whom he finds desirable. However, it gets a bit deeper than that. Substantially, the motive of heroic love is to make the man better than what he already is. For proper justification of what the motive of heroic love is take a look at this quote from Alexander J. Denomy’s article “Courtly love and counter lines” he stated that the “purpose or motive is the lover’s progress and growth in natural goodness.”(44). These elements off heroic love can be found in multiple types of literature and music from the middle ages, while also still being used in modern music, literature, excreta.
Heroic love has a unique structure. Within this structure holds the elements of this form of love. Many elements make up heroic love, however an element of heroic love is that the lovers are mostly in two different life situations that causes there love to be forbidden. However, the male figure has to better himself in any way, shape, or form to gain the love and sexual privilege of his lover.
