1. Introduction
The statistical evidence from the National Institute of Health (USA) (2011) reveals and estimates that the cases of blindness are going to double in every 20 years. Therefore, it is crucially important to invent new technologies and devices to deal with this inevitable problem. Carroll summaries the impacts of blindness include the loss of psychological security, basic skills for living, communication, appreciation and the whole personality. Literature from Emile Durkheim (1897) suggests that social discrimination and isolation can even lead to egoistic suicide. The Electronic Glasses are invented exclusively for the blind that aims to assist them to live in a more convenient manner as well as to re-build their self-confidence and self-esteem. Most importantly, this pair of glasses can help them to integrate with the society again and make their life easier and better.
2.1 Basic Structure and Design
The invention can be considered to be a package of two items, the glasses and Bluetooth device.
The appearance of the Electronic Glasses is likely to be the same as what we are wearing, except, conventional and infrared micro-cameras are located at the two front corners on the frame and a small button for the connection with the service center is placed on its arm. Meanwhile, two important software Global Positioning System (GPS) and JAWS are imbedded within the glasses whereas the connecting unit, central processing unit (CPU) is inserted inside the glasses. Since different components in the glasses are connected by wires, the frame is made of plastic so as to prevent potential electric shocks. With respect to the environmental friendliness and lifetime, lithium-ion batteries are used.
On the other hand, the micropho...

3. Conclusion
Undoubtedly, the Electronic Glasses cannot able to make the blind to live like a normal person, but it can definitely make them to live in a relatively more delightful and extraordinary way. They can enjoy their life in diverse ways, with much more convenient transporting choices to travel around whereas cooking will be safe and sound and having meals in restaurants will not be a problem anymore because they can now able to read the menu. Besides, they no longer need to be desperate about their loss in the ability for written communication as well as bringing the giant device, optacon with them all the time. Fears and feeling about getting lost and no-one to count on will be vanished. In conclusion, the Electronic Glasses do not only bring the blind convenience but at the same time help them to integrate with society again.
This will benefit Billy and his peer helper. The device would be considered low tech. Since Billy wears glasses he can use a computer with a screen reading software. Which will allow him to see the text displayed and hear what is being said while looking at the word. Screen reading software would be considered high tech. Both devices can be used to assist Billy in a regular classroom. Billy can use the classroom devices at desk to have a better understanding of what’s being taught. During choice or computer time Billy can use the screen reading to review what he didn’t understand during teaching instructions. I think both devices will interest and encourage Billy to want to
During my childhood I was diagnosed as having poor eyesight and was prescribed glasses to assist with my vision correction. I realize how blessed I am to have had that as an option. I was always in awe of the environment and creatures who inhabited the various areas of nature. The sense of vision is very important and without the ability to see an individual would be missing out on many colorful life experiences. Blindness, which is the lack of the ability to see is a very dark and challenging disability. Without one’s eyes, everyday activities such a walking, reading, eating and identifying people can be a struggle. It has been proven that the brain will adapt to the loss by giving itself a makeover. If one sense is lost,
When most people think of blind people, they tend to picture a person with dark sunglasses, a seeing eye dog, and a walking stick. These are stereotypes and obviously do not remain true in the case of all blind people. In Raymond Carver’s short story “Cathedral," the main character is jealous and judgmental of his wife’s friend who happens to be a blind man. It is the combination of these attitudes that leads to his own unique “blindness." It is through this initial blindness, that the character gains his greatest vision.
These products have made life easier, safer, and more durable for the deaf population in the United States and out. With a proper education (as a child) costing over 100,000 dollars, blinking fire alarms, vibrating alarm clocks, flashing phones, toys, alerts, and hearing aids of any sort, the economy as had quite the growth. And with the deaf population growing supply and demand growing more companies are becoming deaf friendly. Even television has its Closed Captioning, which helps with the sale of television and is very popular. Thomas Gallaudet gave the Deaf the first look of a better future for them, and the many generations to come. Nearly everything they need are at their fingertips, and helps when they cross those whom something is wrong. “I’m deaf. I hate the word, ‘ I’m so sorry’, when I tell them I am deaf. Don’t be sorry this is who I am, and I’m happy about it”, this all started with a man who seen something that no other could or wanted see. He did something that he really didn’t want praise for
The need for braille then is simple the blind needed an easier way to read and write and there were many teams of people looking at ways for blind people to read. Louis Braille was on a team and he discovered this French “Night Writing” and then the idea for the six dot cell system emerged. The problem is that many people want to eliminate braille completely because “technology can do it for them”. That’s like going into a class room of six year old students and telling them that they don’t need to learn reading and writing because technology will do it for them. It sounds silly, but blind children are told that every day. When children with vision loss are learning to read, braille is the best way to develop spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills. Audiotapes and computers that speak through a voice synthesizer program provide access to all sorts of written tools, but they don’t give new readers the tools they need to read and write themselves. Studies have shown that people with vision loss who can read braille are far more likely to get a job than someone that relies on v...
...ts any responses that refute this idea. Then he would have to open his eyes to the reality that nothing is ever truly lost.. sacks writes “to release their own creative capacities and emotional selves, and both have achieved a right and full realization of their own individual worlds”(317). Therefore each individual blind human being is content with the way they experience life. For Carr this might be a bitter truth that deep reading will survive just not in the quantity that he desires. Unfortunately the removal of technology is not a simple solution. We need people to experience certain losses so that the human race can progress and prosper. The blinds ability to adapt and live on with a sense of comfort and peace because of this pseud sight. Is proof that even when you lose something significant you might just get something in return you never thought you would.

Individuals who are deaf or are hearing impaired are faced with many problems in today’s world. There are so many tasks and activities that are done today that deaf or hearing impaired people may have difficulty doing because of there handicap. There handicap used to stop them or inhibit them from doing something that they are interested in or there friends and neighbors would do. However in today there are new and different technologies, that help the deaf and hearing impaired in the activities in which they want to participate in which is hard for them to take part in because of there handicap. Technology is used to help with everyday tasks in the lives of deaf and hearing impaired individuals. With out this new technology which is being invented everyday, deaf and hearing impaired people may be considered to have a handicap which prevents them from certain activities, but this is not the case anymore, now these people just have different obstacles which through the use of technology they are learning to over come. They can do anything that regular normal range of hearing individuals can do, due to the new technology being invented everyday.
As Benjamin Franklin grew older, his vision worsened. He became both far-sighted and near-sighted and the constant switching of his glasses frustrated him so much that he decided to solve this problem. He invented a pair of glasses that incorporated both lenses into one frame called bifocals. “Bifocals are a type of prescription eyeglasses designed for people who need both near and farsighted vision correction. Benjamin Franklin developed the first pair of bifocals in August 1784”
When people hear the word “deaf” many times they think of their grandparents or other elders who have lost their ability to hear due to old age. However today for every 1,000 children, at least 1 is considered to be deaf or heard of hearing (Honig, 177.) Deafness is a disability that is easily overlooked and misunderstood because it is not a disability that is easily observed. Helen Keller once said that, “Blindness cuts people off from things. Deafness cuts people off from people.” When a person is blind or need glasses society easily recognizes that in some cases special accommodati...
Braille has helped shape today's education by helping blind people to be able to read and learn. Created by Louis Braille, who was blinded at a young age, and with help from his father, he created a system that would help many of people with a disability be able to learn like everyone else. It is still used to this day, and has been 'translated' into different languages for different nations. It is such an important invention, and without it being created, blind people would not be able to experience the same reading or writing experience as everyone else, learning everything verbally. It is now almost everywhere, on ATMs, on classroom signs, and even in textbooks.
In the world of bionics, the technologies such as the bionic eye sit between the realms of science fiction and reality. Bionic eyes are at this time limited by current technologies, and while they can bring a certain quality of life to people with sight impairments, the bionic eye at this point is falls way short of the organic eye. This essay will endeavour to persuade the reader that organic eyes, due to current technological limitations, are superior to bionic eyes. In order for people to benefit from bionic eyes, they need to have a functional visual pathway from the retina to the brain along the optic nerve as well as some intact retinal cells. This need for intact optical nerves \ intact retinal cells limits the potential recipients for treatment to people with retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration and other genetic eye conditions that effect around 1.5 million people worldwide.
Bowser and Reed [1995] as cited by Bryant et al [1998] argue that as a child progresses through the Education System, their requirements change and this may necessitate a need for different devices. This is not limited to those children with a physical disability but is relevant to all children with SEN as they progress and the Education System places additional burdens upon them. For children with a visual impairment ICT can provide support in various ways; tools to support communication, to improve access to information and as a means of producing learning materials in alternative. There is a wide range of devices and software, which can
I realize that blind people are important for us to not make fun of them or hurting their feeling that being blind is hardest for them. For me, if i have a blind person in my family or friend I got to cheer them up that being blind is not bad as being normal because some blind person can be talented and successful in their life. I tell them that I study psychology in school and there was one day that the teacher makes me being blind and I realize that being blind is not bad as they think but makes me experience how I do the normal activity is harder than when you have an eyes. It makes me understand the feeling of having no vision on everything is not the worst thing on your life.

It was developed by Google with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format (google.com). These glasses were developed for people who are constantly on the go. With a couple mishaps though, wearable computers still needs further development.
