A time management plan will allow us to schedule and complete our tasks according to the priority we set by focusing on the right priority task at the right time. Effective time management plans will help us work efficiently and effectively. Competent workers should monitor and adjust their own work performance to ensure the quality of their work is maintained. Time management helps us to use the right strategies and develop the skills that will improve the way we use our time.
Once you have a plan, stick to it, protect it. Start your day with a foolproof plan and you get to work and like one million other plans are staring down at you. Create a log of what you do consecutively daily for a week. Find out what takes the majority of your time and if they are in line with what you originally planned to do that week. Develop a new plan, or take time to focus more on those things that make your day more productive. Develop a daily appointment time with yourself to work on every project and complete them ahead of every deadline. Put all your plans and schedules in it ahead of every day and make sure to have them with you always.

Learning to create time management system, you can complete the most important activities first in a given time. It is a three step process to know your available time. This is also called a time management budget. Finding out available time consists of recording, organizing and consolidating managing time efficiently. Which equals organizing, prioritizing and planning. Learning the strategies of organization is essentially the basics and the path to time management. The more organized you are the more efficient you will be using the 24 hours of each day. To understand the best ways of managing myself as a potential team leader I have examined the relationship between time and stress management. I scrutinized the way I manage my own time by keeping a time log also surveying colleagues in a questionnaire, to explore the importance of time management and its relationship to the causes and symptoms of stress. My overall aim is to minimize my own stress and become a more effective leader.

Time management is not showing up to class on time, homework in hand, finished 10 minutes before class started. Nor is it showing up to class on time, homework in hand, finished the night before. Time management is knowing that there is a paper due in two months, and planning ahead in small, bite-sized chunks to complete it on time, keep your sanity, and still do everything else you want to do in college. It is not boring yourself to death figuring out schedules for months in advance when your plans change day by day, but the art of fitting in everything you want and need to do, both as part of the college experience and beyond, without undue stress or allowing basic needs to fall by the wayside. Now, if you can describe exactly how you spent all of your time yesterday, good for you! For the rest of us, if you struggle to remember what you did, never have enough hours in a day, or do not remember where the hours between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. went, then it is time to start learning this essential skill. I write this clear and concise reflection to identify and evaluate an academic problem that I feel is negatively impacting my studies which is time management; otherwise, I find lot of difficulty to manage my time.
Having a busy day can result in disorganization and majority of the tasks will not be done. When you check you planner before starting your day, you will know what should be done, at what time and for how long. You don't need to have all the details or all your daily tasks in your mind, once you complete a task, you can refer to your planner to check what should be done next. In the workplace, time management is an important factor in everyone’s day-to-day work. If a person’s time is well managed, it is possible to achieve a greater amount in a shorter space of time. How effectively people manage their time has a major influence on aspects of their working lives and their personal lives. Effective time management can have a hugely positive effect on a person, it can lead to a focused and disciplined mentality, giving a higher level of productivity, greater efficiency and an all round positive attitude in life. This benefits the individual, their team, the company they work for and also their friends and family. An example of this is an employee who prioritises their jobs at the start of the day; this gives them a structured day and ensures they have time to complete all of the important jobs. However, if time is poorly managed it can lead to inefficiencies, work overload and added pressure, this could eventually lead on to other issues such as stress.
Helps prioritise: Time management helps prioritise what needs to be done per time which forces you to create a “To-Do” list to ensure all important set tasks for the required time are done. This helps get rid of un-necessary/un-important tasks, and helps focus more on set priorities.
What do we know about time management? As adults we should know a lot about time management. We all strive to become the best that we can be. This alone should encourage us to learn about time management. Every aspect of our lives depends on it. If we try to plan, organize, and execute our ideas most of the time we can manage it well, but when we go the other route, and jump out there feet first, most of the time we do not do as well. This is not the case in every light, but usually it is the norm. Even as we sit in class trying to better ourselves by improving on our education, we learn that we must manage time to the best of our abilities. This is not done only for school, but for our families for those of us that have children and spouses. A lot of the time, we manage to get everything done and leave ourselves out in the cold when it comes to making time for ourselves. If it is not our job or school we are trying to meet someone else's needs.

As more and more people are getting into a hectic lifestyle, a need to have a good time management techniques that built-in part of your life, you have to follow some simple requirements. You no longer have the luxury to waste valuable time in your day.
My professional development topic was time management. Ironically, I missed the first professional development assignment. Due to poor time management skills, I did not get the assignment turned in before midnight when it was due. The last 2 semesters at Ivy Tech, spring and summer 2016, I have had poor time management skills. Procrastination is a thing I have always struggled with, and something I want to work on.
Time management is the key to success, it allows you to take control of your life rather than following in the footsteps of others. You accomplish more, you make better decisions, and you work more efficiently; this leads to a more successful life. It can be the key difference between getting projects done and ultimately failing.
PMBOK guide defines TM as the “Use of available time and your own productivity along with the appropriate planning and management of the project schedule” highlighting the link between Time Management and productivity and its closely knit relationship to scope and cost areas. Max Wideman presents a wider definition for TM as the “function required to maintain appropriate allocation of time to the overall conduct of the project through the successive stages of its natural life-cycle, by means of the processes of time planning, time estimating, time scheduling, and schedule control.” Ultimately at it’s core however, TM is about time, its planning and control during all stages of the project. A further look into Wideman’s definition of TM by means of identifying its importance throughout the entire project life-cycle (Initiation, planning, execution, controlling and close-out) is required. It is hoped that by analysing how TM tools and techniques can positively and negatively effect the different stages of the Project life cycle a better understanding of productivity, TM and project success will result.
