Eating a reasonable breakfast is good for your health. Many studies show this. “Individuals who consume breakfast also have total daily intakes lower in fat and higher in carbohydrates than those of breakfast-skippers.” (Nicklas, 2003). This quote supports the idea that eating breakfast is healthy for you by explaining how eating breakfast will help people to make better food choices throughout the day. If people eat breakfast, they will more than likely be healthier throughout the day. Another quote that supports this main idea is, “A new study shows teens who have breakfast are more likely to have overall better nutrition--a diet that includes at least two-thirds of the recommended dietary allowances (RDA) of vitamins and minerals--than non-breakfasting
peers.” (Deutsch, 2001). In this quote, it explains that eating breakfast will help people to achieve a majority of necessary nutrients. The quote further shows that eating breakfast is good for your health. The type of breakfast you eat can also affect your health. “Dr. Nicklas said she would advise other doctors to encourage a healthy breakfast such as cereal with skim milk and fresh fruit, or a bran muffin and orange juice, she added.” (Deutsch, 2001). This quote shows that people should eat a good breakfast, and that it will be beneficial to health. Eating breakfast in general is healthy, but eating a nutritional breakfast is even more beneficial to a person’s general health. “The researchers found the young women's glucose responses to high-protein versus high-carbohydrate breakfasts were influenced by their typical breakfast habits.” (Chew, 2015) The type of breakfast you eat can also depend on your typical breakfast habits. Either way, breakfast is very important.
School lunch is an obvious problem that has yet to be fixed. Mark Samuelsson once said, “We struggle with eating healthily, obesity, and access to good nutrition for everyone. But we have a great opportunity to get on the right side of this battle by beginning to think differently about the way that we eat and the way that we approach food.” A well know fact to almost all students and their parents is that there are many problems with school lunches and it needs to change. Not only is school lunch unhealthy, but it also does not taste good most of the time. Some people feel that school lunch is not that big of a deal so it should be very cheaply processed in factories and preserved, but that is not the case. In order to solve the lingering
News articles and internet blogs are saying that Americans are trying becoming more health conscious, but America ranks thirty-three in the healthies country. Bonnie Liebman, Sarah Federman, and Greg Crister are influential writer on the topic on food. They show the readers the freedom that food manufacturers have on labeling, and how it affects the consumers that fall for it. Bonnie Liebman, the author of “Claims Crazy: Which Can You Believe?” is a Director of Nutrition in CSPI. She has an M.S on nutritional sciences from Cornell University. Liebman provides links between health issues with food labeling. Her work talks about the different types of food labeling, and how the FDA fails to regulate on the structure/function claims that food
The most common problem in today’s world in the schools is the lunch program that they now have. Students in which are currently complaining they are not receiving enough to eat at school. Kids do not like the fact that there is no other food choices to pick from anymore. These students are hardly feeling full from these meals. These young age children, and teenagers are required to be receiving the right amount of food. So that children, and teenagers are acquiring the required amount of nutrients that they need to grow, and to be stronger.
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) was authorized in 1946 through the National School Lunch Act making it the oldest of all child nutrition and food assistance programs. The reason Congress initiated this program was because it was a “measure of national security, to safeguard the health and well-being of the nation’s children and to encourage the domestic consumption of nutritious agricultural commodities and other food” (Stillman 451). The NSLP set the standards for the foods that were offered and the goal of the meal pattern was to provide at least one-third of the recommended dietary allowances for children over the period of one week. In the 1900’s, the NSLP went through a transformation because though they were providing one-third of the RDA for many
This article talks about the pros of eating breakfast and how it is the most important meal of the day. It also talks about the guidelines of what consists of a healthy breakfast. Don’t eat fats. Avoid sugars. Eat protein at every meal. The time when you eat also plays a big factor. When you consume calories affects your weight gain and overall health. People who eat three meals a day with a snack tend to gain weight over time, on the other hand, those who ate one or two meals a day tended to lose weight. Consuming more calories in the morning and fewer as the day goes on is an effective way to maintain a healthy weight. I plan on using this
The benefits of good nutrition are important for everyone at home and at work. Good health begins with a good breakfast. People who have a morning meal are more likely to take in more vitamins and minerals, and much less fat and cholesterol. (WebMD, 2008) The effect is often a leaner body and less chance of overeating and going to the vending machine during work hours. Researchers at the 2003 American Heart Association conference reported that breakfast eaters have a lower chance of being obese and getting diabetes. Another study in the International Journal of Food Science and Nutrition concluded that people that eat breakfast cereal daily feel better both physically and mentally compared to the people who almost never ate cereal for breakfast. A Web MD article explains “To get the full benefits of breakfast, the Mayo Clinic recommends a meal with carbohydrates, protein, and a small amount of fat. They say that because no single food gives you all of the nutrients you need, eating a variety of foods is essential to good health.” Even if an employee does not have time to eat before work, because they are rushing to be on time or their morning consists of dealing with children, bringing a breakfast that they can eat as soon as they get to work would be a healthy habit to get into. Multi- tasking is possible when eating cereal, fruit and nuts at the same time as checking voicemail or emails. Good nutrition needs to continue throughout the day. Fruits and vegetables, healthy snacks, drinking water or tea to stay hydrated, and eating dairy products all add to well-balanced meals. For example, eating healthy dinners with fish two times a week can vastly improve a person’s well-being because fish has omega 3 fatty acids.
One day of November I came to school after two hard classes I was very hungry at that time if you give me rock I will eat it and then I went to library, I saw my friend they were hungry too but they are always hungry and when we get hungry we can not control our self it is not in our hand and then we planed up to go somewhere for eat then Salman suggested pizza hut he said it is all you can eat we can eat our breakfast, lunch and dinner for ten bucks, Salman is a big guy with big body and he is professional pizza eater and he go to all you can eat every week so he has a good experience then rohullah, Arman voted for pizza hut, Rohullah is a skinny boy and he go to gym by bus every day but he likes pizza that’s why he voted for
Eating Responsibly To eat responsibly means to know what you are eating and knowing what you are putting into your body, whether it is healthy for you or not. It’s a sad fact that the typical American diet (high in meat and processed foods) is not healthy. There are a lot of different ways to stay healthy, but it can also be very difficult to follow a good diet plan all the time. I know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and I have tried to eat well before all of my classes. I include the necessary protein of eggs and sausage, and include a fruit of some kind.
Many people have this idea that eating breakfast contributes to gaining weight but that could be far from the truth. Nancy Clark mentions that, “if you are tempted to save calories by skipping breakfast, remember that you don’t gain weight by skimping on breakfast. You do gain weight if you skip breakfast, get too hungry, and then overindulge at night,” (Clark 67). In reality, skipping breakfast just effect people appetite in the long run. A study conducted on teenagers by HJ Leidy and EM Racki, they came upon a connection between skipping breakfast and weight control: “These findings suggest that the addition of a protein-rich breakfast might be an effective strategy to improve appetite control in young people,” (Leidy, Racki 1). With that being said, it is important that everyone, not just active people, should know that it is important to eat breakfast. However, another pro of eating breakfast helps maintain a healthy eating schedule. A healthy eating schedule is the times and amount of food a person should be eating. For example, starting off with a good breakfast allows us to keep a balance the food eaten later. The body starts to learn what time it should be eating, which benefits by keeping the body fueled, more alert and less moodiness. A nutritious breakfast has more pros then cons.
The benefits of taking healthy breakfast towards students are ones can perform better academically, keep optimum weight, and prevented unwanted diseases.
Nutrition is the process of obtaining and consuming the right nutrients you need in order to grow and survive. Bad nutrition can lead to lifelong consequences such as Diabetes, High blood pressure, Obesity, Cardiovascular disease and even some Cancers. A healthy diet helps people manage a desirable body weight and composition that allows them to do their daily mental and physical activities (Youdim 1). If you eat the correct meals it provides energy and even helps boost your immune system. There are many examinations available to you to check if you’re on the

Breakfast immediately raises the energy level of the body, increasing vigor and vitality (EAS Academy) . Those who skip breakfast, thinking that it would help cut the calories and lose weight, may actually find it quite contrary. By going hungry in the morning, as their energy level drops in the day, they tend to nibble on unhealthy snacks or overeat during lunch, adding more calories than is required and thus, resulting in weight gain
Despite the numerous benefits of eating a nutritious breakfast, surveys show that about 15 percent of teenagers ages 12 to 18 and about 30 percent of adults ages 18 to 35 skip breakfast. The most commonly used excuse is “I’d eat if I had more time.” According to a survey done by Courtney Harrison, a Lincoln High School staff writer, 48 percent of students say that lack of time is the number one reason that they do not eat breakfast. Many people believe that breakfast helps them lose weight, but this is not necessarily true. In fact, research shows that skipping breakfast can make weight loss more difficult. In addition, a recent study found that eating a high fiber cereal at breakfast decreased caloric intake at lunch. Also, it is proven that people who skip breakfast tend to eat a lunch high in fat and cholesterol.
