In the world today there are hundreds of battery brands and many of them claim to be the best. The question is, is the consumer paying for the named brands worth the extra money. There are two main battery types the alkaline battery and the lithium battery. The alkaline battery is used for everyday uses such as your remote or the new toy you bought your child. The lithium battery is a lighter longer lasting battery used mostly for cameras and high energy using products. In this experiment the alkaline battery is going to be tested. According to two Consumer Reports, Duracell has the best alkaline battery and almost outperforms the energizer lithium batteries. This led the hypothesis for the experiment to say that Duracell will outperform
all others. The intent of this project is to test which battery brand has the most energy. THe variable to be tested and changed is the amount of time the battery lasts. Any changes will be noted by time. The research will show which brand of battery has the best battery and is it worth the money to pay more for the name brand batteries. There are three parts of a battery the anode, cathode, and electrolyte. The cathode is the positive side of the battery while the anode is the negative side. They are the ones that are attached to an electrical circuit. The chemical properties in a battery cause the electrolytes to separate themselves. The positives stay and the negatives go to the only place they can go the anode. "However, these electrochemical processes change the chemicals in anode and cathode to make them stop supplying electrons"(qrg.northwestern.edu).
Phone companies are in a constant battle about which one has the best service. What would you say is the best phone company? AT&T and Verizon have been known to be one of the best companies, which means they are constantly competing against each other for customers. The two ads I found are from each companies perspective to show how both think they are the better carrier. I argue that Verizon is the better company between the two because of background knowledge and research that has been done.
Table 3.2, located below, shows the battery pack characterization. The table shows the voltage of the battery and the current through the battery as a function of time.
Since its discovery, lithium has been primarily used in batteries, in chemical synthesis, and in alloys and glass. Although lithium is used in everyday things we use, l...
The Five Hour Energy Supply The small drink that promises energy and alertness without jitters plays a role in most teenage and adult lives. This 5- Hour Energy’s audience is multitasking, working professionals. Market demand has increased a tremendous amount since the product hit the store shelves in the year 2004. Each bottle contains high doses of vitamin B, caffeine, and energy blend.
Concerns have recently been raised about the level of protection that sunscreens provide against the UV rays. The purpose of this experiment is to examine the value of sunscreen in lowering the intensity of the sun’s UV rays. The instructor purchased different brands of sunscreen lotions: name brands and generic brands. Based upon the price, the class expected better sun protection from the more expensive sunscreen lotion. The group visited several places to collect data, such as Hilton Head Beach and Morehouse College campus. At Hilton Head Beach, the researchers received tons of literature. The group even interviewed a young lady about the sun lotion she uses. Researchers concluded that more expensive is better for the skin and not for sun block protection.
Finally (fourth transparency again), the loose set of values associated with the notions of achievement and reward allowed the Voltaic battery - this little understood artifact for which in 1800 nobody could predict the bright future of - to enjoy center-stage in a painting like this. Everyone was thus reassured - as I think we still are - of the worth of an inconspicuous, "philosophical" artifact like the battery. A worth that should induce us to include the battery in the long and varied list of valuable items rightly belonging to the legacy of the Enlightenment.
Some batteries consists of harmful toxic acids and it may have threats of leakage because of its liquid state. This is called gr...
What is the downside of this though? The batteries are bad because they are known to overheat and explode in
When customers decide what product or what brand they should purchase they consider a few different factors. Light users focus on pricing and the look of the products. Whereas, heavy users look for performance capabilities. Does the provide them with what they need during their activity?
Electricity is an interesting subject. There is so much you can learn from it, like how our lights turn on or how we make cell phones. This is all a mystery until we finally get a little bit of information in our brains. I've just read two articles, "Energy Story" and "Conducting solutions". I also watched a video called Hands-on Science with Squishy circuits. I learned so much valuable information from these resources.
A consumer’s perception has everything to do with how the content of a website influences them. There are a multitude of factors that play into the consumer’s perception. A website appeals to the visual perception (and sometimes the audible perception of the viewer). Being that a consumer is sensory impaired, or not able to utilize all senses, for impact in most media type advertising it is imperative for the company to ensure they are capitalizing on the senses they can reach. Knowing this a successful strategy is to use rich media to attract the viewer. Both Energizer and Duracell attempt this in the homepage of their site. Energizer uses a more subtle approach with the trademark spinning bunny at the top center of the page, while Duracell uses a busier approach by including rotating slides much like a newsreel. While a consumer may be able to grab the slide they want by subconsciously using perceptual vigilance, I personally feel that my perceptual defense walls were completely up from the overload of unnecessary content on a page with such a seemingly simple topic.
Best type cost benefit analysis: (Explain why your selection is best/ why others not as useful)
As Cardwell notes, there are several other electric utility companies trying to lure new consumers in by developing new products. What Con Edison can do is give their customers’ what they promised, which is lower electric bills. If Con Edison is truly able to achieve this goal, then the company will see significant success in the coming years. By lowing bills in the long run, customers’ will be attracted to Con Edison’s services, and this will increase the chances of customers’ becoming loyal. It will be costly to install Opower inside of thousands of homes. However, the benefit of this device functioning properly and achieving success is a far greater reward. In addition, if Con Edison keeps their promise of proving their customers’ with simple, convenient, and easy services, then this will also aid in the businesses success. The demand for Opower will grow and bring significant profits to Con Edison. However, if Opower does not help in lowering electric bills, then customers will have to walk away from Con Edison and this could destroy their business. The Opower device can affect the business in two ways: beneficial or harmful. Beneficial because, if customers see a decrease in their bills over a period of time, then Opower will bring in more customers’ and profit. Harmful because, if
...y type that performs best (when compared to other batteries at cold temperatures) is the Rechargeable battery. Therefore if one would like to reduce the amount of waste created by batteries it would be in the best interest of everybody to use rechargeable batteries. Not only will you save money due to the fact that their voltage declines at the slowest rate but rechargeable batteries can also be used again after the voltage decreases to the bare minimum, they are simply recharged and ready to use again, it can even be charged and recharged more than once! And if a renewable source of energy (eg. Solar power) is used to charge the battery; the environment can therefore be helped even further! The conclusion of all this being that there are many ways to save the planet so lets start with the small things, use rechargeable batteries, save the planet one step at a time.
The battery separator plays an important role by regulating cell kinetics, allowing ionic flow, preventing electronic contact between the two electrodes, and sometimes by acting as a safety device. Because the separator is pressed between the two electrodes and filled with electrolyte, it is in contact with all of the active cell components. By regulating electrolyte distribution, it limits ionic diffusion and recombination rates, and thereby significantly impacts cell capacity, cell power, and available energy. Consequently, much work has been carried out to determine optimal separator character- istics, such as porosity and tortuosity.1-3 Separator degradation has been often observed in certain types of batteries, and shown to be responsible for battery failure or power loss.
