Is the Loop Bus as beneficial to students as it should be? The SGA Loop Bus is a service provided to Duquesne University students by the Student Government Association. It is a three fleet bus system that provides transportation from Duquesne University to Southside, Oakland, and Waterfront that is operated on Friday and Saturday during the academic school year. It is the subject of one of the major gripes with Duquesne University and is not quite what it is cracked up to be. There are many consequences due to the inconsistencies of the Loop Bus making it not only irritable to wait for but places you in danger.

The issue at hand is that Duquesne University students are displeased with the transportation services available to them specifically the SGA Loop Bus. I believe Matt Liberatore speaks for the majority of students when he commented (about the Loop Bus) saying, “It is not as effective as it should be. They’re inconsistent, and aren’t enough prevalent as they should be.” Problems were evident from the beginning of its existence. The Loop Bus is a free service to students of Duquesne University that runs Friday and Saturday beginning at 5:00 in the evening and ending as early as 12:30 and as late as 2:30am. This leads to many cases of being stranded in unfamiliar places throughout the city. Matt also commented on how was inconvenienced during his freshman and sophomore years where he remembers waiting hours until another bus would come because the previous was too small.

...ting has proven to have significant faults that are imperative to solve. The most practical resolution is to dispose of the Loop Bus in favor of U-Passes for all students through Port Authority. This will allow students to explore Pittsburgh when it is convenient for them at anytime, night or day.

The number of complaints relating to Cal State Fullerton’s parking is out of control. Considering the prices CSU Fullerton charges to park at their school, students should be guaranteed a parking space. Students are currently outraged regarding the Cal State Fullerton’s parking conditions. Some students even decide to not attend the school based on the pricing and availability of parking. A school losing an immense number of students only because of the parking situation is insane. Cal State Fullerton should reduce the pricing towards parking for reasons of availability, cost, and profit.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is not the best method of transportation in the city of Toronto, because it’s unreliable, inconvenient, and unsanitary. First of all, the TTC is unreliable because of many delays. The TTC buses often come late and there are many subway breakdowns and signal problems. These problems can cause longer wait times and result in the rider being late. Additionally, the TTC is inconvenient because it is difficult for the rider to get to his or her destination without a few transfers. Every school bus has a hierarchy, a caste system. The cool crowd the kids who smoke, come to class with hickies, and get into enough trouble to be the secret envy of the honor roll students occupies the back rows. It is my stance that, this busing system is obsolete and the a persistent source of much of the problem that it’s claiming to solve. The Truth Behind the Bus There are many controversial issues concerning the bus service provided by Buena Vista University. BVU Rides, commonly known as the “Drunk Bus,” receives great reviews from the students using it at Buena Vista. However, members of the Storm Lake community are not as appreciative of this service. It is important, nonetheless, that people learn facts about BVU Rides in order to make an educated judgment. According to Behind the Arch, an essay compiled by students of Buena Vista University about the drinking issues within the university, citizens of Storm Lake feel that the “Drunk Bus” endorses drinking and drunkenness.

With all of these specials offered and a lot of students excited to go enjoy them, the BVU Rides bus is relied heavily on by students heading to the bar. BVU Rides offers free rides from the college campus to Malarkys, the main bar college students go to, every fifteen minutes, from 10:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The bus allows anyone to ride, but the bus only follows a predetermined route, with stops only at the bar and the college. Despite the fact that this is a good way for students to get to and from the bar, some members of the community think the BVU Rides is a program offered by the community that is not needed. In today's day and age, an increasing urgency must be put on the issue of transportation and its relation to society. Man owes it to himself to address the issue of transportation with practicality and, as one of the biggest polluters, ultimate discretion. One of the most practical and responsible forms of transportation available today is mass transit. However, a problem is present in American society in that mass transit is not as plentiful as it should be. Societies' across the globe are embracing mass transit much more quickly than Americans are. This problem can be remedied through proper education of the benefits of mass transit. Mass transit is the ideal future of travel for several reasons. Of note: “mass transit costs less to the community, needs less urban space, is less energy-intensive, pollutes less, is the safest mode, improves accessibility to jobs, and offers mobility for all” (1). Public transportation is an essential part of a city. A good public transit can encourage a city’s economic activities and can provide its citizen a convenient life. Does our Phoenix public transit work well? Does it provide sufficient service to the citizen? From my experience, the answer is no. This November I tried to attend the popular State Fair in Phoenix. However, I found that there were not any buses or metros could take me to the fair directly. It means I need 2 hours or more spend on the public transits.
