Do you ever feel like you want to just give up? In the video Dropout Nation there are a few students who don’t care anymore about how their lives go.That’s a problem,you see we all have something to look forward to in life. If we didn’t then most likely none of us would be here.Let’s go further into our topic we have here with us.
There was a few things common with each student at the SharpsTown High School and one of those things are their past lives. Most didn’t have a family that really cared for them or none at all. The ones that did, really didn’t have the best, if I had a choice , the best family relationship would be Marco and his family,but that’s none of my business. I have the right mindset, though, so I keep pushing forward, I know if I don’t, then I won’t get anywhere in life. Watching this video was really a life lesson to me.
The school has a pretty good relationship with the students, yes they have a lot of problems, but most of the faculty is like parents of these students, like where Brandi took In Marcus to her home, I see that as a parent, someone who is a caretaker of a child.The faculty in this school pushes their students to do their best. These teachers and other faculty members try anything possible to help their students pass each year.They really do have a good relationship from what I have seen anyways.

Long ago, receiving education was once something only the rich could afford; it was a luxury. Nowadays it is open to everyone, but many students enter college only to discover that they are underprepared, and in turn they become disenchanted. When it pertains to the behavior of the students, as a whole the discipline of the school is pretty good with only a few disciplinary problems. The handling of the students who would misbehave was firm and understandable. First coach will give a warning for the first offense. After that he would bring the student to the side and explain the consequences that will follow if the student decides to act up again. For some students, dropping out is the culmination of years academic hurdles, missteps, and wrong turns. For others, the decision to drop out is a response to conflicting life pressures -- the need to help support their family financially or the demands of caring for siblings or their own child. Dropping out is sometimes about students being bored and seeing no connection between academic life and "real" life (Furger).
The documentary “Dropout Nation” shows how difficult it is for students who live in poorer communities to receive a good education and graduate high school. Students and teachers are interviewed in this documentary to show that these students are intelligent but are not able to graduate due to their circumstances. These examples help explain the concepts learned in chapter 10 about social institutions and how it is affected by politics, education, and religion.
How does dropping out of high school affects students’ lives in the future? Students’ dropping out has become a crisis, President Obama said, “It’s time for all of us to come together parents and students, principals, and teachers, business leaders and elected officials to end America’s dropout crisis” (“ President Obama”). There are 7 thousand students’ that drop out of high school that adds up to about 1.2 million each year, wouldn’t it be nice to drop that number and help kids stay in school instead of dropping out of high school(“ President Obama”). Students’ shouldn’t drop out of high school because they couldn’t go to college, couldn’t hold down a job, and would struggle making minimum wage for the rest of their life.
Many high school students succeed with a little leniency through their four years. The transfer from high school to college becomes overwhelming and a struggle for some. For students do not comprehend the importance of changing more than their location during the transition. A student must be psychologically, physically, and emotionally mature to pursue college and not venture into a point of no return. Dropping out of college makes the outlook of the conversion difficult to acquire. Individuals should take their time on deciding which college and/or university is the best match for them. There are various reasons that cause persons not to prosper. Issues that individuals may come upon might leave a lifelong scar. Matters such as these should not be as prevalent, creating a problem in the future for the well-being of our local communities and nation. The awareness of the causes of students dropping out will help educators, mentors, writers, and others to prevent occasions like this. Soon the dropout rate will increase and the hope for everyone being educated to acquire the needed knowledge to deal with upcoming improvements and preventions. The need for high school students to transfer into college smoothly and maintain self-discipline is significant. Anne Mallinson, Mark Kantrowitz, and Caralee Adams support this indication as well, providing several respectable points.
High school can be tough for many teenagers. Some students may feel as if the classes they are taking are boring or the material being taught will not help them later on in life. These students begin to not show up for class and then their grades start lowering drastically. Next, these students come up with the idea that dropping out is the easiest and fastest way to escape all the stress that is caused by academics. However, they need to start looking at the bigger picture and asking themselves if quitting school is going to help them reach their personal goals. Most people want to live a life filled with laughter and have the least amount of trouble as possible. Dropping out of high school will not bring joy to anyone, it will only affect the dropout and also our society in a negative way.

Selecting which college to attend is often one of the most difficult choices to make. In most cases, it depends on where you live, how much money is willing to be invested, and the reputation of the college; perhaps, a parent influenced the decision. Although many factors determine where a student chooses to attend college, the more important issue, however, is that many students dropout of college. According to American College Testing (ACT), one in every four students leaves college before completing their sophomore years. For various reasons, students are dropping out of college.
