After school, Tomas and Ashlyn sat on the bleachers at my tryouts for volleyball. I passed the tryouts, I ran up the bleachers with them “I won’t know until tomorrow. But how do you guys think I did?” Ashlyn stood up and hugged “You did perfect. I never knew you liked volleyball.” Tomas stood up “Good job, I think you got it.” A guy in a police officer uniform walked up the bleachers to us “Tomas, you guys ready to go?” I turned around to look at him “You must be Rob?” He smiled “Casey?” He held his hand out to shake mine “It’s so nice to finally be able to meet you, I’ve heard so many stories.” I laughed nervously “I hope they were good ones.” I looked at Tomas, Rob said “Of course they were.” Tomas started walking down the bleachers …show more content…
I’m Jordyn, team captain. First practice is on Monday.” She looked at Tomas and smiled “Hey Tomas.” He ignored her, we went to class; I asked him “You know all these girls would die to be with you? Why not give them a chance?” He laughed “Do you really want me to answer that?” I shrugged “You can be with any of them, they are drooling over you after all.” He smiled and chuckled “They can wipe their own mouths then.” I stopped in the hall “You are mean.” He continued walking and looked back smiling “You know …show more content…
You knocked over her water?” I crossed my arms “Quit with the interrogation guys. Yes, I dumped her water so what?” Ashlyn sighed “I have to get to class, we’ll talk at lunch.” She walked away, he asked “Are you ready?” I brushed my black hair back “Always.” We started walking down the hill, he brushed his hand with mine and asked “Why are you so quiet?” I looked at him “I’m always talking.” He asked “What do you do for fun?” We walked up the hill to my apartment, I ran down the steep hill avoiding his question; he stood at the top smiling “It’s like you to avoid my question.” I smirked “I obviously like volleyball. I enjoy skateboarding, gymnastics and definitely softball.” He looked at me in amazement “Skateboarding? Never met a girl who can do that but isn’t gymnastics like cheerleading.” I laughed “Cheerleading is easier than gymnastics, not hard to do a flip in the air and dance while I chant useless words.” He laughed and walked down the grass hill, I pulled off my t-shirt covering a tank top; he asked “What are you doing?” I threw my uniform shirt over my shoulder “You really think I’m going to chill in this ugly thing? It’s too hot for that.” I threw my hair up in a ponytail, I grabbed my lanyard and backpack from the grass. I walked up to him “Can I see your picture?” He handed me his lanyard, I smiled “Awe you are so
In the poem “The Double Play”, the author uses metaphors, words, and phrases to suggest turning a double play in baseball is like a dance. Some words throughout the poem could be used to connect the idea of a double play being like dancing. One word that could suggest this is, the word used “poised”, “Its flight to the running poised second baseman” (12). Poised in this sense could mean that the player knows what he is doing and has mastered the double play, while a dancer can be poised meaning light and graceful. Another word in this poem that relate to a double play and dancing is the term “pirouettes”, “Pirouettes / leaping, above the slide, to throw” (13-14). The player is described to be doing a pirouette in the double play while in the
The entire class and their “Morries” gathered together in a room at the library. All the students were all very nervous, we had spent almost six months on these projects, and we were about to show them to not only each other, but to the people we spent the last six months writing about. Our teacher told us to pick an excerpt to read from the book. When it was my turn, I chose to read the description that I wrote about who Robert was. I was nervous to read this in front of him, because I was worried he would not like it. While I was reading,I made eye contact with him. He was so focused and he looked as if he was enjoying himself. After I was done reading, I handed him the binder that contained the book. He was so thrilled. I could tell by the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled. I also realized that I was thrilled. Not thrilled that the project was over, but thrilled that I had accomplished what I set out to do.
Arriving at Lacey’s house I walk to the backdoor letting myself into the house. Lacey was putting on tanning lotion in the kitchen, “Lacey,” I called to her, “my mom wants me to pick up snacks for the beach, do you want to go into town with me?”, “Sure,” she replied, “do you mind if my cousin comes with us?”, “Of course I don’t mind,“ I answered, “but we have to get moving, my dad only left me the car to use ‘til noon.”
When it was time to pick throwing partners, Sid and I were like magnets and found each other in less than a second. We started to throw the neon yellow ball to each other for a boring fifteen minutes and began the dreaded small talk. “How has your spring break been treating you?” I asked. “Good,” she answered. I could tell she wasn’t going to ask me, so I screamed “Mine has been amazing,¨ If only I knew that in fifteen minutes my life would take a turn for the worse.
I was strolling down the hallway, trying to figure out where my class would be, when I bumped into a girl. “Oh goodness! I am so sorry. I wasn 't looking," she said and bent down to grab my file and books even before I could. I sighed and replied, “No, it 's fine." I wiped the sweat, which I had accumulated from walking all over the school, off my forehead. She stood up and handed me my books. I realized she was also a freshman by her orange colored uniform. She flipped her hair and said while grinning," Let me introduce myself. I 'm Natasha. I 'm from Canada so I don 't really know much about this town. How about you?" Even though I had never met her before, I could tell she seemed nice so I introduced myself. I had to make a judgment to decide whether to befriend the girl or not. Little did I know this stranger was
The first few weeks of that Fall semester were some of the best of my life as we saw each four or five times a week between classes and church, we discovered innumerable commonalities that ranged from being previously home schooled to having the same political views and favorite color. His face showed pure delight when I uttered the words, his eyes lit up and he flashed me one of those incredible smiles, complete with dimples that he used to always give me in the past. But although his face said yes, his mouth said no. He made a dozen excuses that conflicted with each other, ranging from not wanting to date in college to having another girlfriend.
She now sat alone in her gym class, as every single one of her friends were attending their first meeting. A tear rolled down the side of her cheek. Her gym teacher comes towards her and exclaims "What's wrong?" "I didn’t make National Honors Society," she says. He replies "Are you kidding me?
In the wee hours of the morning time moved like dripping tar. The saturnine darkness slinked into every fissure, every crevice of the old theater corrupting all that it touched. A lonesome stage stood waiting for an actor, a comedian, a singer, or any artist to once again use its firm platform to entertain a new. Long had the theater lay dormant. Too many years had passed since the last play had worked its magic for an enthralled audience. Without warning the sound of sobbing broke the quiet of night. Beneath the stage a wretched man lay captive within a small cell. His hair matted, his face dirty and unshaven, his eyes were blood shot from endless tears. And then he jumped like an animal to cling from the bars. He tossed his head back to howl
My name is Autumn Greenfield, I am 17 years old; i’m also a senior at Shadow Falls High School and as you can see I’m running late this morning. As I continue running down the block I start to see someone in the distance by the gates of the school, as I get closer to the gate I realize it’s my best friend Kate. I yell to her “ Hi Kate!” I smile and wave as she sees I’m also late for class, She yells back ”Hi Autumn!” When I reach the gates of the school Kate walks up to me and smiles “
Eventually prom day came to pass, and things could not be looking better for me. I was wearing a black suit and vest sporting a bow tie and a white button up shirt, while she was wearing a dazzling blue dress and her blond hair tied up in a way that made the other girls writhe in envy. When we arrived to the prom parking lot she turned and said “Man it’s pretty cold out.”unaware of what she meant I replied, “I thought you brought a jacket with you?” she rolled her eyes, “I do but It’s not that warm, because it only goes down to the waist.” safely protected from the cold winds by my own jacket I replied, “Well then what's the purpose of that jacket if it doesn’t keep you warm.” Letting out a sigh of defeat Emily opened the car and retrieved her jacket. Noticing a disturbance of some kind I began to search for clues, and upon entry to prom I noticed that every prom date was wearing a black jacket. I was immediately filled with shame that I had failed to pick up on the oldest trick in the book, but fortunately for me whatever I lacked in romance, I made up with spontaneous fun and excitement. About halfway through the night I noticed that Emily was sitting down looking at her phone with a vexed look on her face. Doing my best to navigate amongst dancing teenagers, I made my way to her table to see what was wrong. She then explained to me that this guy has been
"Hey, I see no one is twisting your arm off, making you go to Florida, where it is such a dreadful place, always sunny and warm. What a pity. I feel so sorry for you," my best friend Rachel said teasingly. Just then Coach popped her head in the locker room.
My heart was pounding out of my chest and my palms were sweating profusely. I was about to head into my first college audition and I was petrified. I had been preparing my monologues for months and yet I didn’t feel ready. A little voice in the back of my mind kept whispering to me “You won’t get in.
We are still wearing our purple camp T-shirts. The bus aroma still resembles wilderness. We still smell like pine. It’s been one amazing weekend with you. The feeling I have right now are confusing, ones that I’ve never previously experienced. I like you and you like me and I more than like you, but I am not sure if you do or don't “more than like me.” You have never said, so I kept the thought to myself and haven't been saying anything about it all summer long. I am pleased with enjoying the microscopic miracle of a girl choosing to talk to me and choosing to do so again the next day and so on and so on. A girl who is intelligent and comical that wants to hang out with me. A girl who, if I say something dumb to make her laugh, is willing to say something two sometimes even three times as dumb to make me laugh. A girl who isn’t completely normal, capable of being a little weird, yet also be wise sometimes in a way I couldn’t fathom being. A girl who enjoys reading books that haven’t been assigned to her, whose curly blonde hair frequently has a line running through it from the tie she uses to hold it up while it is still wet. How lucky could I be?
I was astonished and for the first time in my life I got a dose of eunoia. But soon enough, the bad thoughts reached me and came to a conclusion that this whole thing could be a joke, because why would the most attractive guy in school want to go to homecoming with me. I’m a loser and he’s a national treasure. But, me being as happy as I was I said yes and hugged him as tight as I possibly could. Our bodies were intertwined and we could feel each other’s heartbeats, and for once, I felt
...e greatest prank in our school’s history. And she stopped Mrs. DeCostia from stealing from Mrs. Redrik” Then he took my hand and led me down the hall, past all of my friends, to the stairs. I stopped. “What was that for?” “I was just giving credit where credit was due.” He slipped his hand into his pocket and pulled out a rather large ring. “You knew the whole time?!?” “Yeah when we and Matt moved the desk it fell out and I picked it up, I was waiting to give it back until DeCostia got busted.” “Oh my god…” “Anyway, what are we doing tonight? Movies, ice-cream, maybe some pizza?” “We’re hanging out tonight?” “Yeah I have to hang out with my girlfriend to celebrate the undermining of our psycho home wrecking teacher.” “Your girlfriend?” “Yeah...” He said into my hair as he put his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him “Who else would I hang with tonight?”
