Good Morning, Mrs. Foreman and fellow classmates, I’d like to thank you for letting me present to you my information today. Our current president, Donald Trump, has caused an uproar with his recent executive decision of his ban on immigrants from certain countries. This intolerable act by our nation’s leader is debated politically as what would be the best choice for Americans.

Personally, there are many ways that one can experience discrimination and intolerance of all types. I am interracial, race has always been a prevalent topic dealing with intolerance. My religious beliefs of my family and I are different from the public norm, and we have experienced some recoil when talking about that subject. This executive act is unconstitutional, as compared to how the U.S. encourages foreigners to enter into our country the legal way, when this individual right is being restricted from foreigners because they’re perceived to be “bad people.” Vox Media News states that none of the attacks in the last 15 years on U.S. Soil have come from people who originate from these 7 banned countries. Incidents like San Bernardino, Fort Hood, and the Orlando night-club shootings, the leaders of these attacks have Pakistani, Palestinian, and Afghan descents. None of these countries in regards to the attacks were on Trump’s list to keep immigrant natives out. In fact, all of them were citizens of the United States, they were born on American soil. Vox Media also states that there have been more terrorist attacks on U.S. Soil that have been conjured by radical christians inside the U.S. itself, rather than Islamic-based movements. MSNBC interviewed a former congressman asking for his views on the immigration ban, and he brings up the fact of freedom of religion is a huge staple as to what our country was founded upon, and our current President is violating the pivotal laws of the Constitution by acting …show more content…

Bush ordered a national registry policy on foreign members of “high terrorism activity” countries. This continued all the way through the Obama terms as well, leading up to 2011, where President Barack Obama singled out those 7 countries at the time, as the biggest threats to our nation. Trump is looking to perform similar acts while enacting his new order on the travel ban, which from his statements will “prove to be effective on keeping terrorism out,” as it did back in the early 2000’s. Many will argue that the masses of people who are not citizens should not be able to abide by the laws of the Constitution until they are granted citizenship. how un-american is it that our current President is looking to install a religious test on immigrants which is included in our vetting process? Sources of NPR and the New York Times showed that for refugees living in a muslim-majority nation, they were religiously tested, and the christians and other minority religions in these countries were granted priority over Muslims. This is completely unconstitutional and unamerican, freedom of religion allows people to migrate to our country without having to worry about being discriminated against because of what they believe
