On November 12, 2015 Donald Trump gave a speech in Fort Dodge at a community college. In this speech he talks about borders in the United States and how we have such relaxed borders compared to any other country, where you get fined a lot of money, prison time or even killed for crossing their borders illegally. While, in America you get a job, healthcare, and education, Trump believes that 's why we are in debt. Illegal immigrants, also can have babies in America and they automatically become legal citizens and Donald Trump call them "anchor babies". In this speech he also mentions his cufflinks, shirt, and cologne that are sold at Macy 's, also his amazing book called Crippled America. He marketed his products over five times in this speech that is only an hour and forty minutes long. He mentioned himself being basically a genius four times, claimed even the geniuses at Harvard don’t know as much as him. That’s about once every eleven minutes he talks about himself or his products in a presidential speech about making America great. When he wasn’t talking about himself or his products he was talking about getting rid of immigrants. Getting rid of immigrants is counterproductive, our founding father knew the importance of it, diversity is important for all large or small companies. Diversity in the work place is one of the leading causes of innovation in United States’ companies (Hewlett, Sylvia Ann, Melinda Marshall, and Laura Sherbin). Some of the largest companies in the United States are also on the list of fifty most diverse work places in America, companies such as AT&T, Kellogg’s, Master Card, Wells Fargo and many more huge companies, coincidence I don’t think so. Innovation leads to economic growth, competitive advantages, and is an in important factor for businesses to thrive. In 2007, Forbes Magazine reported his annual earnings in entertainment alone to be $32 million. This would have meant a significant pay cut, had he become United States President. Currently, he is the producer and star of “The Apprentice,” which has been on air since 2004 (“The Apprentice”). He holds multiple offices at the Trump Organization, and is also a chairman of Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts, Incorporated (Project Vote Smart). Donald Trump has put his name on products and companies both successful and unsuccessful, including food products, corporations, and a clothing line. Trump once stated that “The stuff that’s been sent over from China falls apart after a year and a half. It’s crap.” Ironically, the majority of his products are manufactured in China (Webley, 8). How can we expect a man to keep in touch with an entire country when he can hardly keep in touch with his own business? Donald Trump has had some other losses in business as well, including a failed airline business and multiple bankruptcies in his casinos, among other lost investments. (Webley, 3).
This is only one of the many offensive comments he has made throughout his campaign, which I plan on analyzing for the purpose of understanding systemic racism within America. Opponents of this view point of mine would have things to say like “Trump is a power hungry business mogul with a happy trigger finger” or that he is too forward and has no censorship of the things that he says to the public and press. They would also say somethings such as he would buy out who ever does not agree with him or will not let him do what he wants and that he could not run a full blown country with all the facets that comes with it.
Within an article online called “The Politics and Elections Portal,” it had said that Donald Trump, “flaunts his vast financial wealth and compares it to other famously rich candidates, saying that he is more successful than Ross Perot and that he, quote, “has a Gucci store that 's worth more than Romney.” (Anon, 1). Donald Trump is all for himself and he wants all the publicity he can get. He is flaunting how much money he has and how successful he has been, when that is not what people look for in a President. Trump was putting down Romney by saying how much more successful he was compared to him, when a President should not be putting other people down. If anything a President should be putting their people before their own needs, in voters eyes. Donald Trump cares about how popular he is and his own wealth.
