Welcome to America. Land of the free, home of the brave. A place they call the “land of opportunity”. Or more famously touted as the “American Dream”. It seems like by just hearing these phrases all you have to do is journey to America to make your dreams come true. That life will be easier by just being in America. Like America is the ice cream man with his truck that plays that all too familiar jingle. As soon as you hear it, like a child you are out of your house pining for his attention so that he may stop and give you the cool, sweet refreshment that everyone loves. Yet, forgetting that in order to get the sweet treat you need to pay. Because, no matter how friendly, nice, or inviting he is. He still needs to work, he still needs to keep his lights on, he has mouths to feed. That ice cream is not free. There is no free lunch.
Immigration is one of America’s biggest issue. In fact, one of the top ten solutions that one of the presidential runners proposed is to build a wall so that we can keep people out. Yet, seeming to forget that there are many within. Working to provide for themselves and their families. Forgetting that the reason why America has built was that people

My proposal is that we have centers dedicated to help immigrants. These centers can be a one stop shop of information and resources. Minimizing the amount of travel needed to get information. At these centers immigrants can find coaching in financial, career, and educational areas. We will offer language classes, job fairs, job search training, and job development. For those with pressing issues like family separation, poverty, homelessness, etc. we offer individual assistance. We will provide follow up services so that each member that passes through these centers are not just forgotten and left to fend for themselves. Thus eliminating the expired visa problem and promoting active contributions to
Picture a stunning sandy beach, waves lapping on the shoreline and the sun setting on the horizon creating a breathtaking atmosphere. The never-ending golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see. This is Australia.
Did you know America is a nation built on immigrants? (Schwartz,2017). Immigration is a very popular topic right now and it's important to talk about it. Keeping innocent people out of our country based on fear is not right. Immigrants and terrorists are two different words, but some people may believe it is one. It is not right to keep immigrants out of our country based on religion, gender, or ethnicity. My reasons are immigrants are in need of help, we need to stick to our values, and they make a contribution to America. As you keep reading you will understand why.
Other countries see the United States as a land of opportunity and freedom. Because of this, Americans should be honored and willing to share their concept of freedom and equality with others. Instead, immigrants are forced to jump through hoops and struggle with red tape in hopes of experiencing American life. Currently, this hyped preconception is causing the immigration rate to become out of hand. With the illegal immigrate population growing by over 300,000 annually, it has developed into a national controversy. Like pouring sugar into a cup of coffee: some people don’t want any at all, while others think “the more the merrier”. This rift between parties will only be bridged by implementing a new, reformed immigration policy that incorporates the best of both worlds.
Topic: Addiction to social media General Purpose: To persuade Specific purpose: To persuade my audience that social media is hurting us mentally and our social lives. Thesis: Social media can cause serious problems to you and your health, so we need to put addiction to social media to rest. I. Introduction A. Attention-getter: The ages of 55 and 64 year olds who use social media fell “worried or uncomfortable” when they can’t access any type of social media accounts (Wright, 2015).
In the words of Ronald Regan “A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.” Many feel that illegal immigration is a growing concern for our nation, and securing our borders is most so that we can protect our homeland and preserving our freedom. They say these Illegals take jobs and deny opportunities for American citizens who have made worked hard to gain citizenship in a legal way.
Immigration is an immeasurable problem here in the U.S., Trumps outlook for this issue states “They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists,” Trump said of undocumented Mexican immigrants while announcing his candidacy last June. Building the border stronger end immigrants and refugees who don’t through rigorous vettings.
President Obama recently declared, “What makes someone American isn’t just blood or birth but allegiance to our founding principles and faith in the idea that anyone- from anywhere- can write the next chapter of our story” (Immigration Reform Quotes). In the United States of America, immigration has been a thorny issue due to the fact that some Americans do not want immigrants living in the United States illegally. Undocumented workers come to the United States for a better life for their children, as well as a better life for themselves. They come here only because they want to provide their own families with better opportunities, something the may have not been able to have. What many Americans do not understand is that immigration policies affect families and communities and have a significant impact on the U.S. economy.
Three weeks ago, Trump’s title elevated from GOP candidate to president-elect. Following this revelation, protests erupted and injured countless civilians and law enforcers. Even high schoolers, trapped in the wrong place at the wrong time, have been tear gassed and endangered through the protests. Yet, these protests determine nothing: on January 20th, Donald Trump will still become president. While hatred continues to simmer below the surface, protesters slowly realize that their street performances cannot ensure a better future, only a violent present. As they become discredited about the state of their country, the democrat’s anger morphs into anxiety. With a president-elect, who, in the past three weeks, has altered his platform and changed
America is sometimes referred to as a "nation of immigrants" because of our largely open-door policy toward accepting foreigners pursuing their vision of the American Dream. Recently, there has been a clamor by some politicians and citizens toward creating a predominantly closed-door policy on immigration, arguing that immigrants "threaten" American life by creating unemployment by taking jobs from American workers, using much-needed social services, and encroaching on the "American way of life." While these arguments may seem valid to many, they are almost overwhelmingly false, and more than likely confused with the subject of illegal immigration. In fact, immigrants actually enhance American life by creating, not taking jobs, bolster social service funds through tax payments, and bring valuable technical knowledge and skills to our country. If we are to continue to excel as a nation, the traditionalists who fear an encroachment of foreign-born Americans must learn to accept that we achieved our greatness as a result of being "a nation of immigrants."
To be elected into a power of importance here in America and be trusted to make good decisions here in the land of the free, how can they say no to having immigrants here? Are the immigrants the ones shooting up schools? Are the immigrants the ones shooting up cops? No they are not it is the born and pure breed Americans that are tearing this country apart. With all that is wrong with our country i can stand tall and say the majority of the immigrants are not doing anything wrong. I have watched several videos now on what they are having to go though simply because they wanted a better life. They are working very hard to stay in this country and make a difference here. To then pick them up and cuff them like some criminal because they weren
If you are an immigrant or just want to live in one of the best counties in the world illegally, with no penalty if you get caught come to Americana. They will welcome you with open aims Just like (Fred Reed) – said in “Why Blame Mexico” (we say to impoverished Mexicans, “See this river? Don’t cross it. If you do, we’ll give you good jobs, driver’s licenses, citizenship for your kids born here, school for said kids, public assistance, governmental documents in Spanish for your convenience, and a much better future. There is no penalty for getting caught. Now, don’t cross this river, hear?” How smart is that? We’re baiting them. It’s like putting out a salt lick and then complaining when deer come. Immigrant parents would be irresponsible not
The United States of America is known as the nation of freedom, a place to make dreams come true, and where equal rights are followed. However, our education in history shows a different perspective. The citizens have had a complicated time convincing the mind of Congress on modifying the rights of the people. Before, women could not vote to choose the future of America, yet after many marches, the women who rose up to speak with great fervor accomplished their goal of making it possible for women to vote. The Presidential Election is a time for people to vote for the leader of the country. As I turn 18 yrs old, I have the opportunity to vote for this country’s future. What led me to the desire of voting was hearing Donald Trump’s negative
Australia is a country in which everyone is allowed to live together peacefully and practice their religions and celebrate their cultures. All in all, Australia is a country that accepts everyone’s differences and welcomes them with open arms. However, not all Australians understand their peers. The LGBT+ community has been fighting for their rights for years and they’ve been fighting to be seen as a normal person for an even longer time. Whilst they discrimination is nowhere near as bad as what it was 10 to 20 years ago, we as Australian’s are still so far from letting those of different sexuality a part of our community. There are people who misunderstand homosexuals, transgender and bisexuals amongst other sexualities. Bisexuals are being called greedy by their coworkers. Transgender men and women are being referred ‘it’ instead of a person. Homosexuals
