Have you ever done service hours? My many service hours for my church and school were quite enjoyable, but most of all it was a blessed experience that I got to serve others and do it for God. Doing Service hours was an amazing experience! Especially at Summit Bible Church (a church I used to do service hours for). I did child care from ages eighteen months to kindergarten. From ten-fifteen till’ twelve o'clock was my hours of service every Sunday I was assigned to work. These service hours at my church were very enjoyable because I like watching and taking care of babies! The first thing I did when I arrived there was welcome the children as they were coming in and laying out all the toys. After about twenty minutes we I fed them, and I helped with the snacks and cleaning. After we had fed them all we changed them, and cleaned them, then we would take a restroom break (for the older kids) then, we would do a craft and story time. All this flew by so fast that I actually wanted to stay longer. Doing Service hours at Summit Bible Church was a great opportunity, and I really enjoyed it because it felt good to be helping out at the Church. Another thing I did for service hours was watch my cousin for a couple of hours, while his parents were out of town. …show more content…
The opportunity was right there and in front of my house. My church needed me to watch the children. So with that, I really did feel like God had called me to serve the children and their parents by just simply watching them. I think I felt amazing watching children and letting their parents rest for a bit. Kids are crazy, and of course sometimes you do need a break from them. Helping out with the children also made me feel like I was blessing someone's life. Even though it might have not been a big deal, I felt like I was tremendously helping someone. Overall, doing my service hours really was a great experience and I felt really good about
This experience was really out of my comfort zone. It was hard to be an outsider and not prepared for what was to come and not speaking one of the languages used to understand the entire service. This service learning project gave me the opportunity to try a new church and gain a deeper respect for a different religion. Everyone at the service was very educated on speaking the sacred texts and participating in the rituals practiced. I hope to have gained a better understanding for those who are new to religions and are nervous to come to a worship service. I will make more of an effort to be welcoming and accommodating to those who are new to our church.
I serve to Jesus every day by taking time out my day to help others. When my classmates or friends are struggling with something I try to assist them
I have participated in several volunteer opportunities as a Girl Scout, singing Christmas carols at a local hospital, picking up trash along the beach, working at a homeless shelter, leading events for younger Girl Scouts and much more. These opportunities have influenced me to become aware of the struggles within my

Antigone was a religious person who tried her best to live the way her religion taught. She honored the gods the way she was taught by her parents by giving them sacrifices and worshiping them. One way she honored them was by defending them from be overruled by Creon. Even though Creon was the king Thebes and was able to make laws, Antigone knew he had no right to make divine laws. She expressed this by saying, “I did not believe your proclamation had such power to enable one who will someday die to override God's ordinances, unwritten and secure.
I enjoyed this experience so much, that I decided to go back to volunteer for Change Point, and will be going there once a week. This experience had the impact it did because I got to connect with the community in which change Point serves and help assist others. By doing this, I gained hands-on experience in which will help me in my future career. I also was able to enhance my skills in being a leader and in communication. The parenting classes that I taught to others not only helped them but also helped me.
I am so glad that I was able to get this once in a lifetime opportunity because I was able to learn many things that I wouldn't have been able to learn without volunteering. I also felt accomplished because I was able to do something productive for these ten hours rather than sitting at home. I was able to impact my community and people that I care about. In conclusion, volunteering was a great
Every time I do some kind of service – I have the opportunity to learn new ideas, discover new perspectives and I've have grown as an individual. By giving back I like making people feel as though they matter, and it gives me a good feeling at the end of the day because I feel I have made a difference. I grow as a person each time I do volunteering. Some people do volunteering because they have to, but I do it because I want to. I love volunteering.
Reflection of Fieldtrip #1: Evangelical Church Service As Scot McKnight once professed, “Evangelicalism prides itself on personal testimonies, and rare it is to find an Evangelical who doesn’t well up inside when someone tells a story of conversion. So proud are we of conversions into the faith--and by that we often mean the Evangelical faith, and not just the Christians faith—that we are prone to accept anyone who makes the claim.” Although most Christians have the same fundamental core values, there are variances between the numerous denominations, including Evangelicalism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Catholicism, and Anglicanism. Starting with Evangelicalism, many Christians or people in general are often unable to define Evangelicalism, but can
Ever since I started youth group and when we got our new youth pastor he has been a major influence and teacher in my life. He made going to youth group so much fun and really knew how to teach us about God and how to have a relationship with Him. The second major conversion point in my life was the first year our youth group went to TCTC ( Tennessee Christian Teen Convention). This was our first year going to this and I had never gone to something like that before so I had no idea what to expect. It involved a weekend full of worship, workshops, and
After eating we gathered in the living room again to do a daily devotional, which consisted of the reading of bible scriptures and more praying and singing. We got to church at 10:30am and were ushered to our seats. The service started at 11am and we started the service by reciting Exodus 20:8 which says “Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy”. The service was not much different from the services that happen at my church; the usual prayer, singing and sermon.
...ood. I truly feel that I am doing something helpful, special and important for them. It may be just several hours of my time in a week, but it means so much more to them. I cannot say I learnt a lot about how charity or society functions as I have expected, but I am certain that from the personal development perspective, I am more satisfied and content with my life.
Attending mass, helps people in their time in need and any time exactly. Having a familiar face with the priests is an amazing pleasure because it helps me form a better relationship with the priest and could make it easier for us so we can solve problems that occur at me. At my local church, I helped at catechism classes every Sunday. I would help many students continue their catholic faith. At the catechism class, I was a teacher assistant.
I also had the privilege of helping with the Meals on Wheels non profit organization. My grandfather used to be a Meals on Wheels recipient and he would share with me how he enjoyed looking forward to their company and a hot meal daily. I volunteered because I wanted to give back and help someone else’s loved one in the same way. It was very rewarding delivering hot meals to people who didn’t have the means of getting one as well as being there for them to talk to. Overall, it was a very humbling experience, it made me realize just how blessed I am and how much I take for granted daily.
I volunteered at East Parkside Nursing Home through my church 's mentoring program. At first, I was somewhat uncomfortable volunteering at a nursing home because my great-grandfather, among many others, was mistreated in a nursing home. But, as the day went on and we engaged in activities with the residents, I eventually calmed down and got into the smooth of things. We had one-on-one contact with the seniors, and we learned about their lives and families. One of the seniors was a veteran who fought in the Vietnam War and he told all of the volunteers a few short war stories. For several residents, their families rarely visited them, so they genuinely appreciated the volunteers spending time with them. Later, we made holiday cards and sang Christmas carols for the senior citizens. They seemed so elated and pleased, which made me feel so fulfilled that I could make someone 's day by doing something so
