As many people would say “Nothing good happens after midnight” A curfew is a time frame given by an authority like a parent or the government to teenagers below 18 to be home before a certain time. They were intended to limit a minors time being without supervision and to keep them off the streets during late hours. Although, curfews have been implemented to keep teenagers out of trouble, are they really effective? Do curfews keep teenagers out of trouble? And is the crime rate less when a curfew is in enforced? Municipal curfew ordinances have become an increasingly popular way to attempt to reduce juvenile crime and victimization, but this does not necessarily work as teenagers feel the need to break their curfews as a way to rebel and prove that they can do as they please. …show more content…

If they have a troubled child that can not be controlled or simply decides to sneak out and get’s caught out in the streets by the police. The teenager is then reprimanded and given either a fine or a warning. If the teenager is given a fine, the parents are the one’s that end up paying the fines, going to court, and missing time from work to attend any hearings.
