When a kindergartener or first grader is asked what they would like to be when they grow up, most of their responses are either to become a doctor, firefighter, or a police officer. I say this because as students in kindergarten and first grade, they are only exposed to a minimum of careers which typically are the ones I mentioned above and which are categorized as heroes.
They are not aware of many diverse and well equipped professions that are in society which can also be categorized as heroes. As a result, many students stick to what they only know and get inspired to fulfill that particular dream in their future. However, young children are not being exposed to the finer things in life. They become complacent with what they only know

Living a healthy lifestyle should be everyone’s first priority and everyone should have the chance to enjoy life without limitations. Students will also have the opportunity to study nutrition and the body for their own moral and health. Being able to manage my own health is one of the main reasons why I wanted to major in Dietetics.
Dietitians are the real heroes in my eyes for the reason that they help save lives, help fight sickness, obesity, and even can help someone attain the body they’ve always wanted!
Once a student has received their degree in dietetics, they will be able to branch out into different sections in the profession. Engaging in this field offers the professional the choice to work in areas such as clinical dietetics, food and nutrition management, education and research, consultant private practice, and related health professions. Therefore, if the professional develops apathetic in a certain area or would like to discover grander opportunities, they can switch and become acquainted with other career choices. In contrast to other careers, some require their employees to stay in the one area they are certified in such as the profession education. If

Evidence-based medicine allows clinicians to offer patients the best care that current science can afford. Strauss et al., suggest that the three components of EBP are best research evidence, clinical experience, and patient/client values (Strauss, et al., 2005). All clinicians should strive to include all three components into the care provided to patients. Dietitians are key members of the clinical team and more than 70,000 dietitians work daily across the US (American Dietetic Association, 2010). Dietitians implement medical nutrition therapy (MNT) which the American Dietetic Association (ADA) defines as an essential component of comprehensive he...
Keyla Negron is a first generation college student at the University of Connecticut, better known as UConn. She states that being a first generation college student was an accomplishment, but that it brought “all the challenges of trying to succeed”. She started college just like many other new students, not knowing exactly what to study or what to do after graduating. This made Keyla realize that is “one of the positive things” of college because “you have the opportunity to take different classes and discover your likes and dislikes”. In her case, it took her just about three years to discover a passion in nutrition, an area she never had imagined herself studying, although Keyla does realize that she was always “questioning how certain foods affect our body and what defined a healthy food and an unhealthy food”.

Based on a variety of personal experiences, I became very interested in the role of foods and nutrition. During my last year of highschool, my favorite who had a successful business succumbed to a strange alliment. He was tired all the time and was diagnosed to live only 1 year. While he didn't have cancer, his bloodwork had many abnormalites the doctors couldn't diagnose. He began to seek out other doctors who ultimately recommended that his see a dietitian. This changed his life. He started to eat low fat foods thats packed in vitamins, quit smoking and drinking and started to exercise regular bases. One year later, he could get out of bed, live as an full energetic person as he had before. This made him inspired to study nutrition in America. I was overwhelmed after I knew his history and never looked at food the same way again. It is clear to me now that how people eat and what people eat is an important factor in acheving optimum health, that just exercise isn't enough.
For my career opportunity project, I have chosen to take a look at the profession
If I had a nickel for everytime an adult asked me what I wanted to do for the rest of my life; needless to say I would not be worried about a thing. Teens tend to get easily frustrated with this question, but we never realize the importance of it. The truth is, we too ask ourselves this question and for whatever reason, maybe it's our youth or our short attention spans, we can not even give ourselves an answer. A couple years ago, I was this such teen. I was backed into a corner; my grandparents had just asked me this infamous question. For once, I actually thought about it and I spouted out, "Well, Pop Pop... Mamaw, I am going to be a poltician." I was the cause for many "jaw-droppings" that day, but I felt too excited to worry with that. I finally knew what I wanted to be, and oh, how I wanted to be a poltician so badly. For a teen, I guess it is rather odd that I chose this career, but there are many reasons that transformed a twelve year old, who still stubbornly believed in leprechauns, into the passionate young woman, whom I know today.
As Hippocrates said: “Let food be the medicine and medicine be the food” this is a very illustrative quote from Hippocrates where is clear that we need to understand that we eat to be health and get energy to continue living and doing activities. As a young student in high school, I’ve become interested to excel in the field of nutrition and become a nutritionist after I complete the requirements. A nutritionist helps everyone from families, large groups, and even hospitals and cafeteria’s to make healthy diets. Nutrition has been around ever since 400 B.C. and has grown to bigger and better things. I want to help people find out the secrete to a healthy diet and becoming a nutritionist will help me reach my goal.
I have always been intrigued by the field of science and that is the reason I pursued the field of Biochemistry for my undergraduate studies. How The Human body works and the different determinants that can affect one's health or a community as a whole have always been captivating to me. I wanted to emerge in a profession that is beneficial for me, my community, and the world I live in. I came to realize through various science courses and health care experiences that a career in health care was the best path for me to outreach my community and the world.
I feel it is very important to take care of yourself and a true responsibility to strive to be healthy. It is certainly something very personal, and that is what I really like about working towards this goal. There are not many short cuts and what you accomplish is usually measured in nothing more than hard work and proper habits. These habits are either natural to you or often times they are things that you have to acquire along the way. This is what this class did for me in many ways, it focused on important lifestyle techniques that I either already have or ones that I need to work on and try to incorporate into my everyday life.
For instance, a healthy diet gives the body the nutrients it needs to perform and recover physically. Nourishing ourselves with the right nutrient helps to engage in every aspect of our lives including: physical, emotional, social, spiritual and mental. Nevertheless,” good health is not automatic; it is partly a gift and partly a choice” (Anspauge, Hamrik and Rosato, 2011, p. 3). Mentally, our mind functions well when consuming enough nutrients. It has the ability to control our moods and attitude toward our daily lives. Gaining the skills and acquiring the knowledge to improve a healthy diet is our responsibility and decision making for a healthy
Of course, it’s common to change careers if you don’t like where you’ve ended up – most people would be driven to the change just because they want something else.
