Personal Response I liked (-- removed HTML --) Diary Of An Oxygen Thief (-- removed HTML --) from the start to the end. The book started out compelling. The anonymous writer did very well and I wanted to keep reading to see if he would ever break his pact with himself to never have an alcoholic drink again. The writer faced many situations that he definitely could have avoided and not hurt other people's feelings. He taught himself and learned from his past experiences. I feel bad for him, because he had to make the mistakes first to even realize what harm he was doing to not only himself but everyone he dragged into his life. Plot Summary This autobiography is written by an irish advertising executive that was living in London. He told
The Truman book I chose to read for the first quarter is All Fall Down by Ally Carter. I enjoyed reading this book because the plot was very interesting and I liked seeing how the events would turn out. All Fall Down is about a girl named Grace Blakely who has grown up in Adria, a European nation. She finds out her mom has died. Grace remembers an old man with a scar who was at the sight of where her mom died when it happened. Grace thinks he is the killer. She calls the man the Scarred man. Grace meets some people on the way including Megan and Noah who help her with her search to find the person who killed her mom.

The book that I chose to do is Street Pharm by Allison van Diepen, the book has 297 pages, the reason I chose this book is personally I am tired novels taking place years before I am born. This novel pertains to urban problems and one kids' attempt to survive in the pressures of present day Brooklyn. Within the novel, there are several subplots, one being his love interest, Alyse, and Ty's fight to stay in school. As well as, his fight not to lose money or control of his territory. It is interesting to watch this young man, balance these things in his life and not let them interfere with each other.
The unredeemed captive was a very interesting story. John Demos created this story to inform on what happened in the past. I learned the story of the raid on Deerfield in 1704. The importance of not only the dangerous journey these captives endured, but the story for one child, Eunice Williams. She had to give herself along with the other Native Americans captures and to continue life among the wilderness. I watched the relationships among many tribes build and crumble while hearing a story of a family who was ripped apart for many decades. Things happen in life; it’s not about what happens, it’s about how you react to them.
I have only read four books my entire life for school, but this is one is the best I have read. There were numerous things that I learned from the book. The one that hit me the hardest was it's hard to see people living in shame because they can cover it up really well, almost like it doesn’t bother them at all. I grew up in a middle class family and simply didn't understand what it meant to be so broke that you are ashamed to be around people who have money. The thought never crossed my mind, ever.
Jay's Journal is an interesting book written by Jay. The story is about Jay and how he was led into witchcraft and the occult and using drugs by his girlfriend and others. The author tells how Jay was led into all of this, and it also tells how he got his two best friends into using the same stuff and into the occult also known as the O. The author describes how he learned that the human race was afraid of mind over matter techniques and learned how to use them himself. He was able to levitate small objects and see peoples auwa and aura. This is a great book because it helps some people that deal with the same problems to see what might happen if they choose to follow the same path. I really liked this book because it might help people deal with this type of stuff, it was written in a real person's journal and described what led to his death, and I like how it says what happened every day of his life.
The book I enjoyed most in the past year is A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. The story switches back and forth between the diary of Nao, a suicidal teenage girl who is determined to record the life story of her great-grandmother Jiko, and Ruth, a women who lives on a remote Pacific island and discovered Nao’s diary washed up on the shore, as a result of the 2011 tsunami in Japan. After reading a few pages of the diary, Ruth is mesmerized by it and decided to find out about Nao’s life. The book covered numerous themes, including Zen Buddhism, natural disaster, Kamikaze pilots, suicide, bullying, quantum mechanics, and time. But something that intrigued me the most is the personal growth of Nao.
I have spent much of my free time this semester reading and analyzing three novels for my English class. One book in my opinion stands out among the others. The three books had some similarities between them, but the books also had quite a few differences. Through those similarities and differences I have concluded that Hatchet is by far my favorite. It was also the easiest to follow and in a weird way relate to.
Even though it is not written the best, I would still recommend the autobiography. It is very interesting and keeps my attention; it is also a quick easy read for those who do not have much time. I really liked it because Drew Barrymore is one of my favorite actresses, so it would be a good book for anyone that likes her. Overall, it was a good book, well worth reading.
The book A Long Walk to Water caught me not wanting to stop, with great plotline and character development. Salva was a great character who had a very preserverant attitude. While running away from the refugee camp he was forced with a decision to just give up or to carry on. With his attitude he carried through to get through the desert. The best part of the book was when the two stories met together. It was the best because all of the plot and different changes made that last section happen. If it weren’t for Salva coming to America Nya would have never gotten their well. The worst part was, in my opinion, was the repetitiveness of Nya’s story. The saddest part was when Salva’s uncle and best friend died. This was sad because I can feel
Fresh air was once thought to be an actual medical cure for tuberculosis patients in sanitariums. The Air We Breathe by Andrea Barrett is an accurate representation of tuberculosis patients' lives in sanitariums during World War I. Although the book is fictional, all the facts about tuberculosis sanitariums are true. The book's plot revolves around several main characters that are living in a tuberculosis sanitarium during World War I. The story is told by a nameless narrator who is also a patient in the sanitarium. The storyteller focuses on two patients, Leo and Miles, who were both sent to the facility after contracting tuberculosis. The story also follows three staff: Naomi, Eudora, and Irene, all of whom have dedicated their lives
For my book I chose to read The Body by Stephen King. This novel is about four young boys taking a journey to find a body somewhere in the woods that is at the county line. This story is about more than just four boys going on an adventure its about them becoming closer to each other and learning real life lessons along the way. The four boys are all going into their first year of middle school so this is a time in their life when they learn things that will help them in life.

I really enjoyed If I Stay by Gayle Forman, because It’s a story about a girl going through hard times and who just experienced an car crash with her family and is stuck in a out of body experience while in a coma. Each chapter in the book lead me to want to read more and never put it down to figure out whether or not Mia is going to stay or give up.I like how the author made the book in Mias perspective and made it feel like that is how someone would really think if they were able to see everything while in reality at a hospital unable to wake up because she is in a coma. I also like how the author shows how Mia is feeling about her parent’s death from the car crash and how she reacts to seeing her brother barely holding on. I absolutely loved how the book made me think to myself on
