The sun shone brightly through her bedroom window. When her feet touched the cold floor it sent a shocking chill through her body. Walking down stairs the aroma of fresh brewed coffee filled her nostrils. She slipped on some clothes and shoes and was ready to start he short trek to the ocean. With her coffee in one hand she immediately felt the humid air hit her as soon as she stepped out the door.
The beach filled with the stillness of the clam and quiet morning. The calm waves lapping over one another in the early hours of the morning. Not another sound in the world can be heard. Looking out over the ocean as if there is land beyond the enormous, stunning, blue water. How was something so striking create on this earth and why? Wondering what is in the vast, sparkling blue waters. Wondering if the marine life in the sea can actually see and heard. Feeling the cool, quiet morning slowly turning into a hot, busy day. Turning once more to appreciate its beauty then turning around ready to face

this perfect day. The blazing sun was beating down on her skin as she stepped on the beach.
Looking to her left and right she looked for a semi empty space on the beautiful white sand that stretched for miles long each ways. Laying her vibrant colorful towel in the sand laying down ready to catch some rays. In not time she was sweating like a pig. She decided to get into the water feeling the cool refreshing water hit her toes first then traveling all the way up her body. After cooling off she headed back to the house in the late afternoon heat.
After her long relaxing day at the shore sides she felt sticky and gross. She took a hot steamy shower and felt squeaky clean afterward. As she was getting ready her stomach growled sounding like a dying whale. Realizing she had not ate all day she went and got a green salad full of all different kinds of tasty and colorful vegetables with a cool crisp bottle of water. Having a sweet tooth creamy delicious ice cream in a warm waffle cone was a
necessity. Standing on the beach watching the full round sun slowly descending over the ocean she was reflecting on one of the most perfect days she had in a while. Walking back to the house she smelt the salty air as the wind blew lightly. Sitting in the shabby brown rocking chair on the front porch admiring the beauty of this breath taking place. That night as she laid in bed the night was silent except the slight chirping of crickets in the night. Drifting off to sleep her last thoughts were of how this day could not have been any better. It truly was the perfect day.
As I picked up a cookie and blew on it, the hot chocolate chip on top got stuck on the tip of my fingers. I licked off the melted chocolate chip on my fingers and took a little bite into the rich soft chocolate chip to fully enjoy it. The smell of the chocolate chip cookies filled the air in the small kitchen then eventually escaped into the living room.
The smell of the restaurants faded and the new, refreshing aroma of the sea salt in the air took over. The sun’s warmth on my skin and the constant breeze was a familiar feeling that I loved every single time we came to the beach. I remember the first time we came to the beach. I was only nine years old. The white sand amazed me because it looked like a wavy blanket of snow, but was misleading because it was scorching hot. The water shone green like an emerald, it was content. By this I mean that the waves were weak enough to stand through as they rushed over me. There was no sense of fear of being drug out to sea like a shipwrecked sailor. Knowing all this now I knew exactly how to approach the beach. Wear my sandals as long as I could and lay spread out my towel without hesitation. Then I’d jump in the water to coat myself in a moist protective layer before returning to my now slightly less hot towel. In the water it was a completely different world. While trying to avoid the occasional passing jellyfish, it was an experience of
The cool water felt very refreshing on a warm spring day; however, anything over 50 degrees felt warm to our family who had traveled from the icy Idaho weather. My dad and we five kids waded out to where the water reached my belly button. My mom stayed on the beach. Those of us in the water splashed each other, at moments sucking in some of the salt water. To me, it tasted as if someone had poured gallons of table
The gleaming sun is an orange on fire waiting to be picked. The silky, smooth sand that gushes between the toes, just soothes and warms anyone’s body. That incredible moment of the salty ocean breeze cooling the sweat right of hot pedestrians. The gorgeous palm trees spread about chasing people to give them relief and joy as they lay in the comforting hammocks to relax in peace. The pina-coladas spread through the body and refresh people with their cool and creamy substance that slowly soothes anyone’s throat. The experience is one of a
Bright early in the morning, smelling the vivid coffee, I jumped off my bed along with me the sheets scatter all over the room, enthusiastically the day has begun. This day sparked an amazing feeling, a feeling that arose within my heart and traveled throughout my body feeling it in my bones, organs, cells, bacteria. The road trip lasted two hours, nevertheless, it would last a lifetime in my memories; we arrived, it seemed as if it took an eternity, a never ending ride. Struggling to get in the parking lot, or should I say the safari because they were all acting as a pack of wild animals, all fighting for a spot just to spare the amount of walking towards the entrance. The walk seemed to go on forever, a mile long; the lines to enter were
Hidden Truths The ocean is a master of manipulation, using its beauty to make us forget the atrocities it’s capable of and the monstrous things that have happened within it. I’m reminded of this as miniscule grains of cream colored sand squishes under my feet and between my toes as I step onto Omaha Beach, the largest of the six beaches stormed on June sixth, 1944, also known as D-Day. Glimmering blue waves and warm sunshine peeking out from behind wisps of cottony clouds make it easy to forget Omaha’s dark past. However, less than seventy-five years ago the sand was stained crimson with blood and the waves carried countless corpses off to sea.
I turned off the car and took a deep breath. Looking slowly up into the pink sky, I began to watch the golden sun go to sleep. The beach seemed deserted, quiet, but peaceful. I opened my door and put my feet out on the soft sand. I started taking my shoes off, then my socks. I threw them in the passenger seat, and then shut the door. I looked out over horizon of the lake and started walking towards the still water. With each step I took, I could feel the warm sand crunch between my toes. Then suddenly, a sharp rock, but not sharp enough to break the skin.
Everybody has a gateway destination that brings them happiness, peace, where for a few days the time slows down and you live out every full moment and for me that would be the beach house on Seal Rock. This beach house has brought me many great memories with my family ever since the age of two my family and I would go for a few days or even a week to get away from the city and actually enjoy nature at its best. It’s my third home away from home.
The dull light of the sun somehow manages to kindle my senses in a way I had never seen or felt before. Everything felt like it came to a standstill and the effect of the light made the scene look like one in a painting. The waves break gently into white foam on the black beach. The small crystals in the sand glimmer and twinkle brilliantly against the sunrays. The seagulls ride with the wind and the soft sand cushions my toes.
While waiting for the laptop to show signs of life I drain the last of my once steaming mug of heaven. The coffee slides down my throat to my stomach like a cold snake, making my muscles tense up from the sudden cold intrusion. With a happy chime the laptop displays a breathtakingly beautiful picture of a beach. Through the picture the sun shines brightly high in the sky giving the photo almost a golden glow. The sand, pure and white appears soft even through the photo and is contrasted by the clear dark blue water.
It was a silent night. Too silent. Not even the sound of the wind, nor the howl of the grey wolves could be heard. The lake was a dark mirror, reflecting the dull moonlight shrouded by a thick layer of fog. Pine trees surrounded the vast lake, towering menacingly as if to swallow it.
His breath reeked strongly of alcohol as he kissed her. The kiss was sloppy but uncensored, his disarrayed and muddy emotions creeping over the wall that had been erected after the incident. Even in this haze of intoxication, she felt the closeness that he had been starving her of, and relished in it. Ignoring the miasma of old whiskey and his feverish grabs, she appreciated the scarcity of the moment. He had, no doubt, driven them here, to this alluring California beach, to announce his pending affair.
The crisp air howled in the evening skies as the moon, and the sun were aligned. The sky darkened, as the rain had gotten stronger, as it soaked everything unsheltered. Animals rushed, seeking shelter from the rain. Two figures faced each other Misty pale blue eyes stared into the the solid black ones, eyes changing from color to color, as it reflected off the surrounding light.
The air was frigid; my nose, a shade of dull scarlet, could have chilled bones to the slightest touch. The grass was covered in a light mist that glistened off the cool morning haze. The sky painted my vision with the colors of orange and pink; they seemed to be dancing together. My eyes were squinted; the bright sun inched itself up to meet me. I found my arms clutched close to myself, the small jacket around me provided only minimal warmth. As I entered the car, I felt instant relief from the crisp air. I gently wiped off the fresh drops of dew from my black flats. My mind flashed to one idea. Today could change everything.
Have you ever visited a place so beautiful and serene that you couldn’t imagine a more stunning place? For me, it is the shimmering and flowing waters of the ocean. The way that the deep blue waters meet the gritty beige sand leaves me in such awe. The water is like a soft blanket, comforting and inviting. The unique wildlife and vegetation that exists on the beach is something I’ve never seen anywhere else. There is no place more beautiful and thrilling than the beach.
