The expectations for a criminal justice students interests in law enforcement requiresna pre-hiring process and job requirements. A specific law enforcement, I’ve always had an interest being part of the Des Moines, Iowa Police Department. The abilities, skills and required knowledge requirements of being a possible candidate you must know basic math, speak English, be able to write directions and follow oral directions (Moines, 2010). A background investigation will be ran to look for the following, driving record, drug screen, criminal history, references and work history. The Des Moines Police Department trainings requirements are police academy, receiving an academic course work and practical training such as fire arms, defensive tactics and driving both pursuit and emergency situations (Independent Education Resource, 2017). The training time in the police academy is for four months period of time for basic training. The possible job responsibilities for a new officers include, assisting with office functions, maintaining files and typing.
