I am applying for dental hygiene as I think dental hygienist is as essential as the dentist to prevent patients from tooth decay, gum disease and to maintain the oral health. I knew I wanted to be involved in a dentistry related career from a very young age as I always wanted to role play being a dentist I always played with me childhood friends and used my imagination to create scenarios, but the real passion for becoming a dentist grew when I went to my first dentists appointment, this was the real starting point because I started seeing myself as a future dentist. furthermore during two years of visiting the orthodontist for my braces I understood how helping and caring for people can be rewarding as a smile is one of the main features of a person that helps them interact with others , during my treatment I also experienced the satisfaction of a patient …show more content…

Studying chemistry at this depth has made me understand the importance of biochemical molecules and their important functions as they are used in many dental products such as the everyday toothpaste. Apart from this I have developed my skills such as problem solving by always taking on the challenges in each of my subjects by trying to find the best solutions I also learned many useful information about our thoughts and mental health by studying psychology which I think it’s going to help me make wise decision in the way I interact with my patients and member of the dental team. In doing psychology I have also improved my team working as often we have to work in groups and come up with different answers also in doing experiments in biology and chemistry I have made further improvements to being a leader and also team work
