Tenacity. It means persistence, perseverance, endurance, patience, and determination all in one word. It means you can persevere through anything the world can throw at you even when you don’t know what’s up ahead. Even if you want to give up, tenacity makes you keep on going. It’s the voice inside you saying “I will persist until I succeed, and even then I will not stop.” It tells you that you’re okay even when you’re not, just to make you keep on going. It makes you believe in yourself, and it teaches you how to endure. Tenacity means patience, because all suffering ends. Because even though things don’t look better now, it will get better. It teaches you to solve your own problems, and that little things do make a difference. Tenacity can be found in things big or small. Sometimes, it’s the things that you don’t expect that have it in them. Like Martin Luther King Jr. The one in a million man who decided to say no. He fought for rights and for freedom. He had a dream he was determined to make come true, and it did. Michael Jordan had it too. The man who earned the trust of his teammates enough to be …show more content…
The ones that you put on your finger in the summer and make them walk on an endless loop. The ones that move with the stubborn determination, that we all let go in the end because our patience wears out, and once again, their tenacity wins. Tenaciousness, is in that soldier, out on the battlefield, the one whose name you don’t know. He’s fighting for a country, for his life, and for his friends and family at home. Did you know that he’s been away from home, at war for over a year now? More than 365 days of shoot, reload, and repeat. But he never gave up. Even when he didn’t think he was going to make it, and even when he lost his hope. Tenacity bends and twists your will, sometimes you doubt, but those who do persevere come out with wills of
him to keep trying his hardest and to not let anything or anyone get in his way.
A natural response to such a violent environment is to simply behave in a way that portrays no weakness. If the soldier does not show any signs of weakness, he finds it much easier to convince himself that he can survive by his strength. In asserting his control over himself by hiding all of his weaknesses, h...
likelihood of victory is small.” It is a person’s mental or moral strength to resist extreme
The main message of the book is that anybody can overcome anything with the right thoughts and traits. Eric Greitens has shown that numerous times throughout the book, for example, in this quote; “As warriors, as humanitarians, they've taught me that without courage, compassion falters, and that without compassion, courage has no direction.” (Eric Greitens, The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the making of a Navy SEAL).
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines perseverance as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. In today’s society, there are so many walls and barriers that prevent humans from achieving their dreams and goals and people begin giving up. However, great poets such as Homer and famous music groups such as Mumford and Sons have used the strife of humanity to compose works that can be used to inspire and institute hope for humanity. With perseverance, there are three key aspects, struggle, loyalty, and strength. The struggle is what allows humans to learn, grow, and better themselves, the loyalty demonstrated provides motivation for success, and the personal strength allows the person to build
Many people encounter perseverance throughout their life in certain events. Buck from the Call of the Wild, is taken from a place like home to him and thrown into a harsh environment he is not used to. Similar to that, my mom was living a normal life when suddenly she had to stay strong for the family due to her brother near death from a tragic wreck. Even though they differ, both had to adapt to the life changing experiences and stay mentally strong.
The soldiers from this novel represent actual feelings about brotherhoods, misperceptions of war and the pointless fighting. They provide clear examples of these with their experiences from war. From sitting on their “boxes” and chatting, to the realization of a friend inside an enemy, these soldiers have been able to see the realities of war and have shared it with the rest of the world. People can now see how horrid it is to be in a war and now they try at all costs to prevent war. War is bad, that’s all there is to it. Not much more you can say about it except that. When viewing the death of innocent people, the question is asked once again, is it really worth it?
Moore defines courage as “resolute doubt,” having the ability, or the the "strength of spirit," to keep going even when defeated. To be strong, one must accept their own mortality. One must accept the reality of death and yet keep fighting to live. Although we are all imprisoned in a world of mortality, we must fight every day to give meaning to our lives. We must live as if we were never going to die!
“The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.” – G.K Chesterton
Many people show perseverance, including me. I showed perseverance when I failed a quiz and I knew to get my grade up I had to work harder and study more. I knew if my parents found out that I failed a quiz they would yell at me and would be disappointed on me for getting a bad grade on a quiz because I didn’t study. This factor contributes me to work harder, I learned that I need to work harder to succeed, like Salva, how he showed perseverance by looking for his family.
What is Determination? Determination “is a quality that makes you continue to do or achieve something that is difficult”. When you have that goal and the mindset that I can, I will, and I must be the best that I can be makes you determined. Through all the obstacles that you may encounter will make your goal difficult to reach. As soon as you set in your mind, “that I am determined” to do what I have to do makes is what makes you a tough player. After setting your determination, next in line is being strong while you go through the process of achieving your
It takes little character to point a gun and pull a trigger, but it takes mountains of courage to accept a challenge in which you are already defeated. Nothing to do but reverse fate, overturn the thoughts and predictions which stand looking down with a grin upon its face. This feat may be impossible, but not totally forsaken, for courage prevails over cowardice. Courage, bravery, selflessness, all attributes necessary for winners to possess.
The idea that inner strength is just as beneficial as physical strength is not often thought about; nonetheless, it is an ever-present issue. In the short story “Battle Royal,” the narrator is an African American male who expects nothing more than to present a speech at a meeting of white people, but is unpleasantly surprised when he is at the meeting. In the short story “The Lesson,” the narrator is an obstinate young child who does not want to admit Miss Moore, a young lady trying to inform Sylvia and her friends of their situation, is actually correct. Battle Royal is an excellent example of a situation when inner strength is just as important as physical strength, if not more so.
"The core of a soldier is moral discipline. It is intertwined with the discipline of physical and mental achievement. Total discipline overcomes adversity, and physical stamina draws on an inner strength that says drive on." - Former Sergeant Major of the Army William G. Bainbridge
Persistence. Persistence in the face of opposition. It is easy to be passionate when life and business is good. You will have the perfect mindset and attitude. However, what happens when the perfection stops and the hardships set in. Will you drive forward, with the same passion and commitment? The winners do. The successful entrepreneurs do. Persistence is the ingrained mindset of success. It truly does separate those that succeed from those that fail. Your persistence is what separates those that dream to achieve and those that achieve. Never give
