Strong, muscular, big, and popular; a lot of people think of those characteristics when the topic of heroism comes up. Everyone's definition of heroism is different, but a true hero doesn’t always fall under all the stereotypes about heroes, and they are not always perfect, just like any other human being. Sometimes, heroes even make some bad choices, but the heroic things they do later on balance out the bad things they did in the past.
A lot of people define a true hero as risky, courageous, or brave, and yes, that can be true, but not always. Some heroes do heroic things even if they aren't fearless. They could be scared, or just not brave at all. But, that is not what makes a hero a hero. They could take some really risky actions that impact people's lives in many good ways. And sometimes, heroes do things to impress someone or to show off. Even though their intentions were bad, their actions were still good. So, they could still be considered a hero. All heroes have different personalities and think differently, but in the end, they are still heroes.
A lot of heroes aren't perfect. One example is Martin Luther King Jr. Even though he did many great things during the Civil Rights Movement, and effected the whole world in many

Chris Kyle, an American sniper who killed many people, is considered a hero to some people. For others, not so much. As stated before, everyone's definition of heroism is different. Chris Kyle killing a lot of people in a combat zone is considered as a heroic thing to do for some people because the people killed were believed to be bad people. Others still think that killing isn't right and is just wrong in many different ways. Chris Kyle was a brave person and later assassinated by someone suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from being in the
A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor. That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is different for everyone. Some one might think of a hero as someone who can lift a car and put it on their back, or gives a dying person their kidney. Yes all of those people are forms of hero’s. You can’t tell someone that they are not a hero just because they don’t change into a disguise in a telephone both or can throw lightning bolts from a cloud. Everyone is a hero in their own way.
... is not simply defined by his/her strength or looks; it is also their inner strength and beauty that is truly important. A hero can have many qualities but when they show true understanding for something even without proper education, they are accepting of those around them, and breaking rules when the time is at its most important. While there are true heroes, there are also anti-heroes which have the opposite qualities that of the true hero. Furthermore, there are many kinds of heroes but a true hero is defined by inner qualities that of outer qualities.
After reading The Odyssey people may think Odysseus is a idea hero, Chris Kyle is the real hero. His elite marksmanship allowed him to save many of his brothers in arms. He made good decisions, while still following order given from command. He procured his skills throughout his childhood, his father bought him his first rifle, a bolt-action .30-06 Springfield, when he was 8 years old. Chris Kyle, the “American Sniper”, is a hero because his decisions were based solely on his comrades well-being, and with that he saved many lives.
Chris Kyle was a hero for serving his country honorably for 10yrs and for helping others. He pushed himself to be the best and even became what he set out for. He believed he had one job and it was to protect his fellow men. Chris willingly went into battle when no one else was. He even went in when the odds were against him which made him known as the Devil of Ramadi. Even though many people thought of him as a hero, he helped many people he still didn't think of himself as hero. He said anyone could've done what he did if they took his place and that he was just doing his
Is there such a thing as a true hero? Or are those that are considered "heroes" just regular people who made the right choice at the right time and became idolized for it? To be a true hero, the person has to be totally good. It is impossible for a human being to be totally good because weaknesses, character faults, and the tendency to make mistakes are all deeply rooted in human nature. Therefore, no human being can ever truly be a hero, though we may do heroic deeds.
In order for a person to be considered a hero they must have a certain quality. The quality that a hero should have is bravery. All heroes should be brave because if they go into a dangerous situation, they need to be able to stand strong under the fear. “ He thought you were only brave if you knew something was dangerous and scary and you carried on regardless(Mount)”.
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
The dictionary definition of a hero is someone who is admired of their achievements or their noble qualities. To me, the definition of a hero is someone who helps people and is caring. In this world there are so many people mistaken for heroes. One example of a “hero” is O.J. Simpson. O.J was best known for being the running back of the Buffalo Bills and was nicknamed “The Juice”. Although he was a Heisman Trophy winner he was also a major suspect of a murder case involving his wife and her new boyfriend. Even though all the evidence was there he was found innocent and never went to jail. OJ Simpson was an amazing football player, but he should be judged by everything he does not just his achievements. One person I think is a hero in all realms is Walter Payton. A little after Simpson retired Walter came and played football for the Chicago Bears. Very quickly into his career he was given the nickname “Sweetness” which describes his personality in one word. Walter inspired his team and community. Every Christmas him and his wife helped the underprivileged children around the Chicago area. Walter said “I want to be the guy who is always remembered for giving his all whenever he was on the field”. I think that this quote shows his respectfulness of the sport and his kindness for others.
So what defines one as a hero? Well, a definition of what a hero is “A person noted for special achievement in a particular field” (hero, n.d). Our concept of a hero alters drastically from person to
Now some may argue that he was a hero because he died for his cause, “grandly gives himself and all he has to a righteous cause” (Douglass, 9), but that is not necessarily a heroic action. Do we call the suicide bombers on 9/11 heroes? No, we don’t. Just because someone dies for what they believe does not mean that they are a hero. Not by a long shot. Dying for something does not immediately make it a good cause.
When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
A typical hero can be defined as someone who stands up for what is right and is courageous enough to sacrifice themselves for others. A person does not need superpowers to be a hero, but it is their possession of certain characteristics that makes them heroic. Heroes come in many forms and there are many different characteristics to a hero that make them stick out like a thorn. It is these very characteristics that contributes to the hero facing challenges alone, as it is only they who possess them, and the heroes having that ability to do so. In many heroic folktales the author selects a character to be the one who saves the day, and it is this character who is instilled with hero characteristics that single them out from the rest of the characters.
What do you think a hero supposed to be, strong, fast? A hero is supposed to be brave. He is supposed to put his/her life on the line before others. He is supposed to show a good example. The heroes are supposed to be fearless put his life before others, and be a role model.
What makes a hero? Is it the sharp, wide eyes; the perfect, slicked back hair; the toned, muscular body? Is it the cape, tights, or symbol etched in the material sprawled across their broad chest? What about the heart the hero has; the traits that make them a hero? The true characteristics of a hero are not their superpowers or excellent ability to fight, but their willingness to save others and help those who cannot defend themselves. Their honesty, total selflessness, and bravery, in no particular order, are some of the things that make someone a hero.
A hero by definition is a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character. Some people will say he is a hero because he embarked on a courageous mission to destroy Gods creation when no other out casted angel would. Others will say he isn’t one because how can a hero be a hero when their whole goal is to destroy something? Maybe the question is purely
