Recommended: What is a hero
The dictionary definition of a hero is someone who is admired of their achievements or their noble qualities. To me, the definition of a hero is someone who helps people and is caring. In this world there are so many people mistaken for heroes. One example of a “hero” is O.J. Simpson. O.J was best known for being the running back of the Buffalo Bills and was nicknamed “The Juice”. Although he was a Heisman Trophy winner he was also a major suspect of a murder case involving his wife and her new boyfriend. Even though all the evidence was there he was found innocent and never went to jail. OJ Simpson was an amazing football player, but he should be judged by everything he does not just his achievements. One person I think is a hero in all realms is Walter Payton. A little after Simpson retired Walter came and played football for the Chicago Bears. Very quickly into his career he was given the nickname “Sweetness” which describes his personality in one word. Walter inspired his team and community. Every Christmas him and his wife helped the underprivileged children around the Chicago area. Walter said “I want to be the guy who is always remembered for giving his all whenever he was on the field”. I think that this quote shows his respectfulness of the sport and his kindness for others.
There are so many real life heroes, the next hero I admire is Martin Luther King Jr. King was an American rights activist and was a leader in the African-American civil rights movement. King wanted to end racial segregation, but being African American himself he had to overcome many challenges. Many people were disgusted with King wanting both whites and blacks to be treated equally. He always had the strength to push on and keep fighting for wha...

...s how Ender has come to except that he is not the Ultimatum and that he can be defeated. I think Graff said this to prepare Ender in case there was disappointment. Ender is a fictional hero because he wanted to help save the human race and make his family proud.
Heroes come in many different shapes and forms, but all of them are equally important. I always remember that there are heroes everywhere you turn and that not all of them are celebrities. All of the heroes I talked about are major parts in American History and how America became the free country that it is today. Even though Ender was a fictional character I think he could fit in as a real person saving all of us. The dictionary definition of a hero is someone who is admired for their achievements or their noble qualities. My definition of a hero is someone who helps people around them and is caring.
In order to be a hero, one must be courageous. Some people that are heroes are Susan B. Anthony and Harriet Tubman.
People can be heros to Dr. King if they believe in themselves. According to Dr.King all heros need to be brave. “...with the noble sense of purpose that enables them to face jeering, and hostile mobs, and with agonizing loneliness that characterizes the life of the pioneer.”(30) In this quote Dr.King explains that a hero faces many obstacles on their journey. But heroes face their journey with courage and bravery. Rosa Parks was a woman that had enough of segregation. “I was forty-two. No,the only tired I was,was tired of giving in…. He asked was I going to stand up. I said No.”(6-7) This quote from Rosa Parks explained that she wasn’t afraid to say no. Dr. King calls Rosa Parks a hero for her courage in the fight against segregation. For Dr.King heroes face their obstacles with confidence and courage.
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
Generally when you think of a hero, who do you envision? Most likely, you picture a strong and imposeing figure, someone capable of performing in high pressure situations, demonstrating bravery and passion to help his/her fellow man. Those who typically fit that role in society are firefighters, policemen, and soldiers. Those people deserve all the credit and recognition they receive for their courageous acts. However, what about individuals or groups who aren’t necessarily on the “frontlines” physically protecting others and saving lives, but who work extremely hard to improve the lives of others in some way? These everyday people deserve credit as well. After all, to the people they help, these volunteers or activists are heroes. An example of such a group is the Greensboro Four, a few African American college students in the early 1960s who helped change the landscape of segregation in the Jim Crow South.
A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor. That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is different for everyone. Some one might think of a hero as someone who can lift a car and put it on their back, or gives a dying person their kidney. Yes all of those people are forms of hero’s. You can’t tell someone that they are not a hero just because they don’t change into a disguise in a telephone both or can throw lightning bolts from a cloud. Everyone is a hero in their own way.
Who is a hero? In contemporary times, usage of the term has become somewhat of a cliché. Over the years, the term “hero” has become representative of a wide variety of individuals, each possessing differing traits. Some of the answers put forth by my colleagues (during our in-class discussion on heroism) as to whom they consider heroes pointed to celebrities, athletes, teachers and family members. Although the occupations differed, each of their heroes bore qualities that my classmates perceived as extraordinary, whether morally or physically. Nonetheless, Webster’s defines “hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities.” Thus, it is worth considering that individuals become heroes relative to the situation with which they’re faced.
What is a hero? A hero can be classified as a number of things. A hero can be a person who in the opinions of others has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and as scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they had taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement." The business man, Oskar Schindler, demonstrated a powerful example
Being a hero means to be willing to risk your life for others. Such as, Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a fantastic football player and he loved playing it too. Despite that, Pat Tillman turned down a 3.6million dollar contract to the Arizona Cardinals to go fight the war against terrorism. He ended up dieing from friendly fire. All this goes to show how brave Pat Tillman was to risk his life and give up his football career to go fight in Afghanistan to help protect the American people. Likewise, the people that helped evacuate New York City after the
In my opinion, a hero is someone whose principal purpose, whether it be in one situation or over the span of their entire life, is to help others while simultaneously making the world a better place. When the word hero is brought up, the most prevailing image that comes to mind is superheroes like Batman and Superman. But I don’t think you have to have superpowers or even be well known in order to be a hero. There are people all over the world whose intention is to do selfless deeds and go out of their way for others without expectation of obtaining anything in return. These are the type of people I like to consider everyday heroes. They go through life just trying to be the best they can and trying to help as many people as they can. Whether
Some definitions of heroes are people, who have noble qualities, and put the lives of others before their own life. They are expected to be reasonable and calm, during scary times, like when a shooting is going on, looking out for
According to google.com a hero is someone who “is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievments, or noble equalities.” (google.com). For example, superman , superman is an all time american classic modern hero who is admired for his courage and for saving earth multiple times from super villains. Another example of a hero is Beowulf. Beowulf was created around 1000 AD and was known far and wide throughout the lands for his selflessness, bravery, and courage .
On June 12, 1994 a very horrific homicide sparked one of the most controversial criminal trials in United States history. Nicole Brown Simpson, ex wife of football phenomenon OJ Simpson, and Ronald Goldman were murdered. There is substantial evidence that points to Simpson being the murderer, but he somehow came out clear of charges. Essentially, OJ Simpson was wrongly acquitted for the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
I consider a hero someone that has done great things. There are different opinions in what a hero is but to me , being a hero is one who accomplishes hard goals, standing up for their own rights, doing things that are extraordinary. Muhammad Ali-Cassius Clay is someone that fills my standards of a hero. Muhammad Ali has accomplished hard goals by getting medals in the Olympics. Muhammad Ali had to stand up for his rights when he started to box. He has accomplished things in his life that would be very hard for me to accomplish. Muhammad Ali has done things that I think are very magnificent. The thing Muhammad Ali has done makes him a hero to me.
Overtime, people were very ambiguous about how good he was. But his was a very encouraging to him. A little bit of time later, Ender had became a very strong leader. He was always working on making his men better and soon reoriented because he wanted to win all of the battles. But with all of this hard work he put into all of this, Ender became very tired. But he begins to realize that he was being used after he heard this, “There is no war, and they’re just screwing around with us.”. Ender couldn't believe what he just heard. Lots of questions are going through him right now and he felt that he was anathema to graff. This also made Ender very
You also don’t have to kill anyone, conquer foreign land, or risk your life to be a hero. Anyone who influences anyone else by saving or helping save his or her lives is a hero. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the lives of millions of people by bringing justice to minorities. Mahatma Gandhi, one of the greatest heroes, led a nonviolent revolution to free his country.
