Happiness is a feeling, something intangible, that varies for everyone. One can be happy for the moment or a long period of time ("What Is Happiness?”). Some philosophers insist that happiness is based on long-term alone. They assert that the amount of good in someone’s life is correlated to how happy a life they lived; that happiness cannot be achieved until the end of a person’s life. Pleasurable daily experiences can add up to a happy life. If the positive moments of a person’s life outweigh the negatives, that person can be considered happy. However, happiness is subjective. Two individuals can experience the same event and have completely different views on their level of happiness. It is clear that happiness is felt in degrees. An individual may be slightly happy over a free slice of cheese pizza, but ecstatic over winning one-million dollars on a scratch-off. A person who is willing to be happy, often is. Happiness can be the little things in life. It can be discovering that the cafeteria is serving chicken nuggets; having a mouthful of dark chocolate-covered blueberries; lounging around on a Saturday morning with a cup of coffee in one hand and a TV remote in the other; that second of serious eye contact people make with each other right before they burst out laughing; making a one-hundred on a composition paper; losing your stomach in the drop of a roller-coaster; or seeing a rainbow after a storm. Any simple moment that brings a smile to someone’s face, can be

In addition to anyone being happy, genuine happiness is vulnerable. “If happiness is similarly available to people of any age, sex, or race, and to those of most income levels, who is happiest?” (Myers and Diener 14), the capacity of peoples’ joy is undiminished. Self-esteem, personal control, optimism, and extraversion are four inner traits that classify happy people. People who are happy admire themselves and feel personal control, empowered rather than helpless about their lifestyle. They are also optimistic and tend to be more healthy, successful, and happier than pessimistic people. Also, people that are happy are extraverted and they are happy when they are surrounded by a lot of people and even when they are alone. They are not happy because of their status of wealth.
Contrary to belief, genuine happiness is very rarely found at the bottom of a shopping basket or on the leather seats of a brand new car. Often we hear the cliché saying “Money can’t buy happiness” but this is in fact true. Whilst the elation and delight brought from finally owning a wanted item is extraordinary, you must remind yourself that your happiness should not become dependant upon your ownership of this item. Being happy is not something you can purchase from a shop or car dealership, it is the way you take on life. Unfortunately, happiness does not have its own aisle at shops and never will.

Happiness is a feeling that humans naturally desire. Without it, one feels incomplete. In this generation, happiness has taken on a definition by how we are presented to one another. It is measured by how much money we have, how famous we are, or the things we possess. When in reality, none of these things guarantee a happy life. Happiness is something that cannot be bought with money, but rather, it must be found, earned, sought after. Each and every one of us has our own list of things that we consider to make us happy. However, happiness shines brightest through the relationships we create, and the goals we make for ourselves to strive after. Along with these two essential sources, we then can mix and match those things in life that we enjoy to create our own unique formula for happiness.
...t is better to categorize happiness as a state of mind because happiness has no particular way to measure it, you are either happy or you are not. It is success that makes a person happy, their contentment with what they produced themselves. We are in control of our own fate and happiness; you can only be as successful as you allow yourself to be.

Happiness is a feeling that cannot be broken if strong enough, no matter how much sadness or hate is around you. Happiness can come from the smallest thing, for instance, music makes me happy and can easily change my mood, or when I am doing something I love my mood is easily changed. For others it could be whenever you do something well, or right and get recognition for it.
